Update: The first of the three events is now live! If you think you've got what it takes, jump into Super Mario Maker 2 and try your luck.

Original Article (Thu 5th Nov, 2020 15:30 GMT): Nintendo is offering top players the chance to walk away with these lovely collectable medals, and all you have to do is play some games from the comfort of your own home.

Over the coming months, in-game events in Super Mario Maker 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 will give players the chance to win. 100 medals will be available in Super Mario Maker and Smash, while 200 medals will go to the top 100 players on each team in the upcoming Splatoon 2 Splatfest.

The Super Mario maker challenge is first up, taking place within the game itself from 18th November. Here are the details:

The first Game Challenge event is Super Mario Maker 2’s special 35th anniversary-themed Ninji Speedrun course, titled “35th Anniversary Auto-Mario”, taking place between November 18th, 03:00 (UK time) and November 25th, 03:00 (UK time). The top 100 players who manage to set a best time on this special course will win one of 100 medals with a Super Mario Maker 2 engraving.

The next events will pop up in December and January, with medals being given away during the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: European Online Challenge and the Super Star Showdown and Splatoon 2: Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Splatfest.

They do look pretty cool, don't they?
