Re: Soapbox: My Nintendo's Updated Rewards Scheme Is Anything But Rewarding

I don't understand how can think this system is complicated or convoluted. You buy games, the coins add up in your account, then you spend them towards another game. It could not be any simpler. I was little worried they might use some sort code system Ike the old Wii U program, but the built the redemption right into the eShop.

Most of you just want to complain...

I picked up an early code and spent most of last night playing this. It really is a very good game. It is fairly short, and doesn't overstay it's welcome. Other than that, its very polished. Some of the later boss fights are pretty tough, but they're fair. The HD rumble implementation is very cool, probably the best I've seen on the system. If you're into Metroid style games at all, I'd say this is pretty easy to recommend. Well worth the price.

@jimi I don't understand where this became a digital vs physical debate. I stated that using Gold coins toward a game I'm gonna buy anyway is more valuable than using them for discounts on games I already own. Your response is to tell me I'm "naive" and dont understand because im buying overpriced digital games like a sucker..... For your information, I always buy physical when available. Doesn't change the fact that some games aren't available physically. So again, which is a more valuable use of my current 500 gold coins? Discounts on digital versions of games I already own the physical version of (especially since you and I both prefer the physical), or $5 towards a $10 indie I was gonna buy anyway? and there's so much good stuff available right now, it's easy to wait for sales... So its easy to imagine getting that $10 indie for a buck or 2, or even for gold coins alone (I'll avoid the use of the word free, to avoid triggering you further...)

I'm really not seeing the problem. The end of every month, I spend all my coins that are about to expire, and put the codes on twitter or Facebook for any friends who might use 'em. I've purchased everything on there (outside of the app stuff) and still have over 550 Gold Coins. Other than a couple of 3DS themes, I've never used any of it myself because because it's all discounts on games I own or don't want. Changing it so i can use them towards games I'm gonna buy anyway is fantastic, regardless of the exchange rate. Coins I'm using are always worth more than coins I don't use.

@NImH Not really... He's given both of those reasons himself in interviews over the last couple years. My point was, who cares? I trust the guy who makes well polished games to put it out when he feels its ready more than I'll ever trust kids whining on the the internet that it should be done by now.

@NImH who cares when it when shown? Just because he's shown it doesn't mean he owes it to you. Maybe it ended up being bigger than he originally planned and he did some smaller in projects in the meantime to pay the bills and fund further development. Maybe he just needed a break from it. What difference does it make? Games get delayed all the time. You don't rush art. I'd rather wait another 5 years for Treasurenauts and get a game with the polish typical of Atooi /RK releases, than have him put it out half baked just because some people can't get over that he announced it early.
