It's that time of year again, and E3 hype is still climbing, so let's add fuel to that particular fire by speculating about what Nintendo might be showing off in this year's Spolight presentation, or whatever they plan to call it this time.
Some games are absolutely guaranteed to appear, such as Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch, as it'll be very difficult to show us the Super Smash Bros. Invitational event without also showing the game. Others are more speculative, but nevertheless who doesn't want to see Animal Crossing make its way to Nintendo Switch? Foolish people, that's who.

So make sure you check out the video above. It's likely that some of the predictions will come true, but like every similarly speculative piece of media, take all that's said with a pinch of salt.

A month ahead.. really?
new games.
Please let Pikmin 4 and Animal Crossing Switch be present at this E3 Nintendo! I've been waiting patiently for 5 years and I'm becoming really desperate for a few rounds of Pikmin and Animal Crossing on my Switch
Also Ice Climbers returning in Smash 5 would be a very nice bonus
I would love a port/sequel to Kid Icarus Uprising. That game may be my favorite 3DS title to date, and it never really seemed to catch on the way other evergreen 3DS titles had.
Just hope they do a better job with this year’s presentation and not make it minute, plus have more first time reveals. A slight chance that Smash 5 may delay itself to 2019, how long has it even been in development for? Smash Bros. games previously have not released the same year as their first screenings, plus Sakurai like with previous games would need be time to discuss details and features of the game. I already explained in this amino in regards to what each franchise in the past 4 years has been up to since the release of Smash 4: https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://aminoapps.com/p/vzhqx6
Earthbound Collecton.
Secret of Mana Trilogy localised.
Super Monkey Ball 1 + 2.
Metroid.
I'm not going to make predictions because predictions leads to hoping for these things and hoping for these things leads to disappointment when they're not actually shown and... wheeze
..yeah, all I'm gonna 'predict' is Smash Bros being there because they already confirmed that. XD
If they can announce that a New Official Mario Kart game with 16 or 20 NEW Nitro and Retro Tracks is in development at E3 this year then I’ll finally consider getting my hands on a Switch myself. If it’s not then I won’t have a Switch for a while longer based on me not getting my hands on it until a new game of what there’s been a New Game of an Each and Every Nintendo System is announced to be coming. Man it would be swell if this letter for Nintendo sent to the LA Convention Centre is received in Knick of time: http://aminoapps.com/p/dt50pgw
It would also be swell if Hideki Konno brought these things up about the Mario Kart Franchise sometime: http://aminoapps.com/p/bospx5
Sooner we’re assured that these Switch Ports of Wii U games will not stop eventual new games of the franchises as well the better. Once I make a bingo board about Nintendo’s E3 Presentation I’ll even list a particular spot as a prize point, which is New Mario Kart game for Switch Announcement = Switch for Me, plus able to set foot into Game Stores myself again.
@CuriousUserX90 They confirmed that Smash is going to be the focus this E3 (much like 2016 was BotW and 2017 was Odyssey). While it is possible, I don't think they would hype it for the event only to delay it there. Besides, if this Smash is an enhanced port like MK8D, I would imagine that would cut development time. And if it isn't a port, well, Smash 4 came 4 years ago. I would say that's enough time.
Been scraping together the rumor mill and all it's crazy, and doing deduction I have a solid prediction list here.
Metroid Prime 4 shown, on show floor, 2019 release window.
Pokemon teased, 2019 release window.
EAD game shown and announced, Pikmin 4.
Mario Party shown to some calibur, releases this year.
Yoshi touched on, August/September release window.
Smash shown traditionally, initial roster revealed, holidays 2018, will have personal direct closer to release.
Super Mario Maker gets a beefy port (1.5) with nearly double the assets and character traits for 4 different characters.
Xenoblade X gets a port in tandem to the online structure releasing by the end of fall.
Mario gets a new sports game releasing by the end of the Holidays 2018, suggests soccer.
Fire Emblem finally shown, January 2019.
Some teases from third parties featuring Capcom, Yacht Club and SEGA.
Zelda HD Collection, Metroid Prime 4, a new Mario Strikers Charged Football and hopefully the new Mortal Kombat will be coming to the Switch.
@Yosher I don't think there's any problem hoping for things. As long as you are mature enough to keep your expectations and sense of entitlement in check when that hope is unfounded
With that being said, Animal Crossing Switch would be enough for me. Pokemon Switch (any kind of info) would send me over the edge. But I wouldn't at all be surprised if nothing from about them come out of E3
@UmbreonsPapa I didn't say I wasn't hoping for things. I always hope for certain things. I'm always hoping they'll finally release a new F-Zero, a new Mario Strikers, or add this and that to game X or game Y.
I was merely talking about predictions. Because I know myself. I make predictions based on what Nintendo has been doing in the past, and then the more I start to think about it, the more I start to think that there's no way they won't be doing these things I predicted (which I know is dumb, but it's how my stupid mind works), and end up being disappointed in the end. That's all!
@Anti-Matter why would you want ports of PS4 games when you say the PS4 has no games you like and that it’s evil. I bet half your library is games which are also on PS4
@Yosher Cool. That makes sense. And I wasn't intending for my post to seem combative or argumentative if it came off that way. Just wanted to make that clear
@UmbreonsPapa I know. Just as I was clearing myself up to you as well. It's all good!
@Paraka i think it's likely will see it. after the Walmart Canada leak. and RAGE 2 being revealed today.
if not, then they were lucky to guest Rage 2.
In my mind, they've already won (even though I am so excited to see more info on Last of us 2), simply because of Smash Bros. and Metroid Prime 4 alone! I would love to see a new Punch out (please, please, please), and a new Animal Crossing would be awesome! I'm mainly excited to see what third parties bring to the table! PS4 and XBONE may be getting Red Dead 2, but I would love to see Red Dead 1 come to Switch! I mean, L.A. Noire did better on Switch than XBONE, so more support from Rockstar wouldn't surprise me.
No matter what, it should be a good E3!
People are really predicting Mario Kart 9?! Why would they release that this soon when MK8D charts in the top 10 pretty much every month? Would be foolish imo.
Anyways heres mine:
Smash, it's a port but with a lot of added stuff
-Pokémon teaser 2019 release, Sun and Moon out on switch this winter
-Pikmin 4
-Animal Crossing
-no Metroid
-Bayonetta 3 trailer
-nindies
I just hope E3 as a whole will find some higher energy people as translator and commentary.
Every year, they make me more sleepy instead of excited.
As for prediction/ speculation for Nintendo, ermm.... my guess
Half of the E3 will talk about Smash (yet again) and NSO
the rest would be share among
Pokemon
Animal Crossing
More about Luigi Mansion
( very little about 3ds game )
Indies
and what not.
Switch needs more Wii U ports!
Mario Galaxy 1&2 double pack please....
@AlternateButtons well sure 8 released years ago but 8 Deluxe released last year and is the one that's still selling gangbusters so why muddy the waters with announcing 9. It would be like Rockstar announcing gta6 a year after porting gta5 to the ps4/Xbone, why hinder and slow down your current sales if you don't have to. Sure Splatoon got a sequel quickly but how many months was it selling in the top 10 consistently? Poor example. I'm sure they're working on it but to announce it so soon after deluxe would be unwise I think. We shall see though, maybe I'm wrong 😋
@GrailUK I just want a good super monkey Ball game again.
@NinjaWaddleDee One day. Like I said, if Monkey Ball ever graces the Switch, I'll change my avatar lol.
Edit* No I won't lol.
Hoping for Mario Party 11 most of all.
Other hopes: Bayonetta 3, Animal Crossing, Story of Seasons, Spyro Trilogy and Pokemon Switch.
Dreams: Star Fox, F-Zero, or Punch-out!!.
Super Smash is a given.
The only two things I can say for certain are there are Yoshi for Switch and Smash Bros for Switch. Those two just make sense. As for other stuff, I expect Pokémon to be lightly teased, a huge roster reveal for Smash (Nintendo just dumping several characters at once instead of one by one like with Smash 4/5), and several surprises. Maybe 1 or 2 new amiibo.
I also think Nintendo will go the God of War (PS4) path and just call the new game "Super Smash Bros."
I’m just ready for the 3DS game series to finally make the jump to Switch, mainly Pokémon and Fire Emblem.
@Anti-Matter You always say ps4 sucks and you still want ps4 ports? Its a none sense, Hope you know that.
@redd214
Agreed. Nintendo have a Mario Kart game in the Switch selling lots. They're not going to devote resources to superceding that when the likes of Smash, Animal Crossing, 2D Mario/Zelda, and Metroid (among many others) are still to make an appearance.
All I ask for is...
Really hoping EA (spit) gives us NHL 19 on Switch....
A long drawn out section by Shiggy on the awful tripe he's been working on, switch fit, switch music, and switch sports?
Hmm, I predict... More delays, more full priced ports, more details about nso that make it suck ever more, explanations as to why local save backup is impossible for reasons totally not related to Nintendo wanting to keep save game safety hostage behind a paywall so that more people buy their online subscription, honest, continuing lack of system, multimedia and online features that have been standard for years, continuing drought of third party aaa games, continuing ridiculously cumbersome and clunky state of voice chat and maybe up to 3-4 interesting new games, including a port of Smash Bros.
Cya
Raziel-chan
Zelda Ports...
...and SUPER SMASH BURGERS at the Nintendo Booth...
The presenter is a sweet guy but the video is so outdated and boring. Nintendo Life, do something with your videos.
Pokémon, Smash, Pokémon, Smash, Pokémon. Did I mention Pokémon?
> Super Smash Bros (which will be a new entry)
> Yoshi
> Fire Emblem
> Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee
> The Retro Studios StarFox racing game
> Animal Crossing
> Pikmin 4
> NSMBU + NSLU port
> COD Black Ops 4 Battle Royale
> Spyro Trilogy
> A Bethesda game or two
> FIFA 19 + Madden 19 (maybe)
> NBA 2K19 + WWE 2K19 (hopefully it works)
> Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion
> Mario Odyssey DLC
Dreams: Wave Race, 1080, F-Zero, Cruis'n, Pilotwings and Mario Party.
What I believe will be the reality: Smash, Bayonetta 3, Metroid 4, Retro game, online details, Mario Odyssey DLC, Fire Emblem, Yoshi and Pokemon.
As usual, I'm making no predictions. That way, I won't be as easily disappointed.
Fire emblem and Animal Crossing pleasen
Being knee-deep in Persona 5 at the moment, I have to wonder if this one will follow suit on previous series entries in terms of getting an enhanced portable version. If so the Switch is pretty much the only option out there, besides the virtually dead Vita of course (P4 Golden is still ... well golden really ^^).
The game is amazing, easily one of the most enjoyable games I've played, and a significant improvement in many areas on the already fantastic P3 and P4 (P2 is damn good as well, but at this point, everything after P3 basically feels like their own spin-off-off-a-spin-off ^^).
Anyways, point being, Persona 5 is so good, I might re-buy and re-play it right away, even though I'm just now about to finish my PS4 run. Having it on the Switch would be perfect, and any added content/feature would just be icing on the cake.
Still, I feel like if that is going to happen, it's probably not going to happen this year, but rather (maybe even a couple of) years down the line. At least if P4G is anything to go by. Still, the situation is hardly compare to the early 2010s, with the Switch being insanely popular right now, and Persona as well, riding a wave of popularity, with a great reception to P5, a P5 anime forthcoming, plenty of great merchandise being released and even Dancing All Night getting a new lease on life.
Therefore it might not be out of the question to see an announcement this E3, and a release late 2018 or early 2019.
On that note, I'm also curious to see whether SMT#FE will make the jump to the Switch. I think that it could very well ride the aforementioned Persona high, seeing as it is in many regards really similar (and I think it definitely informed P5 in many areas like dungeon design for example) and it also IS a REALL GOOD game. In fact, if it was an enhanced port, and if cloud-saving meant we could bring our WiiU savegames over (which is probably not going to happen sadly), I definitely pick that game up again in a heartbeat.
Other than that, I'm most excited about FIre Emblem. I really hope they can go pack to that Path of Radiance glory, with all the new features from Awakening onward added in, without giving into that very shonen-anime-esque tone, that stands quite at odds with the games often serious narrative about the devastating wars, oppression, uprising and loss.
I also hope that we'll see something about SMT (V). I'm not sure where I stand on this, I really enjoyed Nocturne, DDS1/2 and SMTIV, but honestly, Persona 5 took the franchise to a whole new level. I also adored, as stated, SMT#FE despite it's kind weird and somewhat offputting idol-focused setting. THe gameplay was solid, the dungeons a definite improvement, as well as the combatsystem, and I actually liked the characters and the story despite everything else.
If SMT (V) can take cues from P5 and SMT#FE (Tokyo Mirage Session to be clear), it would probably jump right to the top of my most wanted list. If it's "just" like an HD SMT 4.5 ... I'm still looking forward to playing it, and I definitely will, but I really hope they continue to be bold and modernize the series. If I have any issues with P5 (besides like lacking audio controls for instance), it's that the combat is not an improvement on SMT#FE, and hence can feel rather stale, and, well, that the whole stealth part, as far as gameplay goes, was really half-a**ed to be quite frank. I get how this came to pass, but those two areas could really use some work, at least if they are gunning for a perfect sequel/SMT (V).
Everyting else they can pretty much keep doing the way they are doing it!
Oh yeah, obviously I hope we get some cool surprise reveals, and Octopath Traveler deserves some serious spotlight as well, seeing as it's coming out soon, and as it looks more than just worthwhile!
As far as predictions, not wishes go, I kinda agree: Metroid will at best be once more teased, but I doubt even that much, and Pokemon might get teasted but certainly not shown. Travis will be shown for sure though, and I think we'll get some 3rd-party announcements as well, like the already mentioned Fortnight.
It’s definitely about time for a new Animal Crossing.
From Ubisoft, like to see Steep and, more importantly, Starlink.
Nintendo: more Labo, Metroid 4 and Bayo 3. And that rumored StarFox racing game. Not too keen on Mario Aces. And how about some Shakedown Hawaii?!?!?
And Splat-nite!!
Yeah, I can believe more Splatoon 2 stuff. It's a huge seller.
No Pokemon?! Nonsense Alex! Nonsense! You have to believe!
Ever Oasis on Switch would be an awesome surprise, but it's probably too soon.
Omg, I swear to god if Animal Crossing doesn't get announced this year...
Here is my E3 2018:
Fortnite Switch/Releases day of presentation
Super Mario Maker Port/November release
New Super Mario Bros Switch/October release
NBA 2K19 Switch/September release
Smash Switch/September release
Megaman 11/November release
COD BO4/October release
Yoshi Switch/August release
New LEGO Star Wars/Q4 2018
Paladins Switch/July release
Tomb Raider 2013/Q4 release
Metroid Prime Trilogy/Q3 release
The things that are likely are Fortnite as shown this morning, Paladins as the code shows Joy-Con support, 2K19 was leaked in the big Walmart Canada leak, Marcus Sellars talked about Metroid Prime Trilogy, Somebody saw Switch cases for COD BO4 so that could happen, Yoshi has a 2018 date and Mario Maker is the most wanted port on the Switch (Other than Fortnite). Tell me what you think E3 2018 will be.
Resident Evil. All of them. Yes 7 would run. Metal Gear Collection. Yes MGSV would run.
Yes I am hoping for ports, I am allowed to want other systems' games on my handheld since I am unable to play on a conventional home console.

My wish list
1. Animal Crossing Switch confirmed with an estimated release window
2. Fire Emblem Switch Trailer and estimated release window.
3. Pokemon Switch see above.
4. More details about Switch online and announcement of video apps like YouTube, Netflix and Twitch.TV
5. Metriod Prime 4 also see above
Honorable mention: Smash news we know is coming.
Wow I thought I missed E3 being moved up to May... but apparently the news is slow so we are essentially doing the equivalent to a stupid NFL mock draft. No thanks.
I predict Nintendo are going to announce a Diddy Kong Racing / F-Zero style crossover starring the cast of Starfox. It will be made by Retro and will be called Starfox Grand Prix.
A dream game that surely has no chance of existing? But wait ,it actually is happening . It exists ,is well into production and will perhaps be revealed at E3.
hmm... my list seems crazy but...
1. Animal Crossing Switch
2.Animal Crossing Switch
3. Animal Crossing Switch
4. Animal Crossing Switch
5. Animal Crossing Switch
one more.....
6. Mother Trilogy
GBA VC on 3DS— hey, a dude can dream
It’s probably wishful thinking, but I’d love to see:
1) Animal Crossing Switch (New Leaf was released 5 years ago, and we have never had a gap longer than 4-5 years between games since the first one was released)
2) Fire Emblem (since it was slated for a 2018 release a few weeks back)
3) a Zelda HD collection with Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skywards Sword (probably never going to happen, but I can dream)
4) Pokemon Switch (probably a given, as they need Pokemon if they intend to ship so many consoles this year)
@Devlind Super Mario Odyssey wasn't the only Nintendo game shown at E3 2017. It was in fact the last trailer during the Nintendo Presentation. Besides, we already figured out that this Smash Bros. game is a New Game thanks to the updated appearance of Link and a different looking logo and main theme heard in the teaser.
@westman98
I agree with most of your predictions...would love a Pokemon red/blue remake in 3d...would also love a 2d Zelda....think I'm showing my age lol
Rhythm Heaven
Nintendog
Kid Icarus
Advance War
Art Academy
I pretty much agree with Alex in the video for the predictions tho he missed out pikmin 4
Want I want aswell is
Zelda 2d early 2019 release
A new Mario 2d ( new style) 2019
A couple of Wii u ports ( Mario maker and wonderful 101 )
Pikmin 1 -3 collection
Something starfox like the rumor of a dkr style game
And advance wars think this game could be huge
@Aozz101x Woah there, look at this absolute madman!
@CuriousUserX90 But it was the focus (and that was my point). The updated Link look and logo isn't a confirmation for me since they are only aesthetic. Until we see gameplay we will know for sure if it's a port or a new game.
I am just going to wait and see.
Hi my name Robert Bullock i like to said hello everybody how are you?
I would like to see at e3 of 2018 is
1. A new Paper Mario like the one on the first and second that would be nice.
2. Mario kart 9 on the switch that would be nice.
3. Mario party 11 on the switch that also be nice..
4. Luigi mansions 3 i know it won't be happening but that would be great.
5. Super mario galaxy 3 or 1 and 2
6. A new sonic game maybe a 2d or 3d
7. N64 games on the switch or dreamcast on the switch i wish.
8. GameCube games like mario kart double dash on the gamecube for switch that would be nice.
9. Metriod Prime 4
My last but least no.
10. Pokemon game for the switch
That all i got tell me what you all think about my thoughts?
Slightly out there prediction: Super Mario 64 remaster as dlc for Mario Odyssey
