Re: Has the New System Update Fixed the Screenshot Switch Glitch?

daveh30

I've had this issue since buying Minecraft. Doesn't happen often, but when it does it'll either do just 1 or 2, or snap off 20+ in quick succession. I had been looking online to see if anyone else was having this issue, and hadn't seen anything mentioned on it prior to this article. Hopefully the update clears it up.

Re: Nintendo Switch OS Version 2.3.0 Is Now Live

daveh30

That last couple of days, mine has started snapping off random screenshots... Sometimes just one, sometimes it'll snap off 20 or more in rapid succession. Hopefully this will stop with the update. Doesn't seem to be a left Joy con issue, as it will do it with the Joy con detached and turned off as well. Anyone else been getting that?

Re: Poll: Nintendo is Keen on 'Social Competitive Gaming' on Switch - Are You Game?

daveh30

I play 99% single player. Every time I start to feel like maybe I might enjoying playing a game online, I'm quickly reminded that gamers, on the whole, are terrible people, and online gaming is a cesspool of racism, sexism, and foul mouthed tweens. If its got any more social interaction than the handful of preset phrases in Mario Kart, count me out. I sincerely hope Nintendo never figures out voice chat.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th May (North America)

daveh30

On the fence for Minecraft. I own it almost every other device I own (PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Android, and I think my toaster has a port...) and I've played the hell out of it over the years. Haven't played it much since MS took it over, not a fan if the new Realms, or whatever they call it, but I feel like the hybrid nature would be enough to draw me back in. Finally get the home / on the go experience that the PS4/ Vita combo couldn't deliver...

Re: EDGE Magazine Reveals How A Single Joy-Con Works in Arms

daveh30

@Yorumi you're talking out of your ass, is what you're doing. You're nit-picking and looking for stupid things to complain about. But I suppose if you were looking pictures of the Switch and expecting to play local multiplayer twin-stick games with 1 joy con each, we're obviously not dealing with the brightest bulb in the package.

Best of luck figuring out how to charge that pro controller, though. On the included cable... Which, coincidentally, also charges the system just fine...

Re: EDGE Magazine Reveals How A Single Joy-Con Works in Arms

daveh30

@Yorumi "I'd argue that it's not really a fully functional handheld out of the box. I suppose with an extreme technicality it is but out of the box, no additional things, how do you charge the system when it's not in the dock? The only solution that technically works is to unplug the dock every time you take it out and carry around the AC plug. I guess technically it works but come on."

That argument is absolutely asinine. By that logic, the original 3DS was not a "fully functioning handheld", as it too shipped with a charging dock. And on top of that, the 3DS has a proprietary plug. Down right evil of Nintendo to slap a run of the mill, everyday, generic usb-c plug on the Switch so that you can charge it off almost anything...

Re: Nintendo is Still Targeting Switch Sales to Match the Wii

daveh30

I think 100M is realistic, if there is no 3DS successor. If it was up to me, i'd say give the 3DS up until next year, then replace it with a Switch Mini along the lines of the mock ups we saw recently. Have that out for Christmas 2018. If you're gonna combine handheld and home consoles into a hybrid, it doesn't make much sense to try to maintain a seperate dedicated handheld along side it, especially while Nintendo themselves are still doing the majority of the heavy lifting when it comes to the software support. Adding a cheaper Switch Mini to the Switch family would help keep them the cheapest option, and the goto system for parents shopping for kids. I don't think the Switch as-is can replace the 3DS/2DS in that regard, but if they can get a Switch Mini on shelves for the right price, it certainly could.

Already picked up Puyo Puyo Tetris, and definitely buying MK tomorrow. Interested in Tumbleseed as well, waiting to see a bit more of that.

Also, should somebody check on RCMADIAX, make sure he's alright? Strange for him to miss a week...

Re: The Switch Mini Isn't Real Yet, But These Mock-Ups Sure Are Convincing

daveh30

@Wouwter that would kinda be the point, in the same way the 2DS was a cheap toy. Which would you buy for your 7 year old? The $300 Switch, or the Sub- $200 "cheap toy" version? Not everything is intended to be an upgrade. The whole point of this would be to provide a cheaper, more robust version that parents will buy for their kids, not for Mr. Pro Gramer to upgrade to.

Re: A New Patch Is Live for Lego City Undercover

daveh30

@BensonUii well, when I was playing it all day, the install size was showing 0MB under the data management tab, with a 32 MB save file. So the full game is definitely on the game card and can be played without internet connection. Just downloaded the update now, and its now showing 479MB.

Edit:. Sorry, missed the word digitally in your comment. NM me, it's early here...

Re: Snake Pass Update Improves Rumble on Nintendo Switch

daveh30

I wondered if that had come out today. Last night I was playing it in bed with the sound muted, and the sound of the buzzing and vibrating woke my wife. Playing after work today it seems way toned back. Doesn't seem to be anyway to check the current version on the Switch though.

Re: Don't Worry, The Rumble in Snake Pass Will Be Fixed Soon

daveh30

The rumble has actually been the one aspect of the Switch that I've found disappointing. Since the N64 days, I don't know if I can name 5 games where the rumble has stood out as being particularly good or bad, and that's how it should be. It should just be there and work and not draw attention to itself. BotW is like that, but every other game I've played on the system has had loud, annoying rumble that really only seems to make the joycon feel hollow and cheap. Fast RMX and now Snake Pass have been the worst offenders. I really hope these games are not representative of what HD rumble is supposed to be like. As much as I have no interest in the game itself, I'm tempted to buy 1 2 Switch just to see what the HD rumble can actually do. When they talked about HD rumble being used in Fast RMX to give a feeling of driving over different textured road surfaces, I imagined it being an improvement on 1080 Snowboarding on the N64. They didn't even come close to what they achieved in 1080, not by a long shot.

Re: Lego City Undercover Box Reveals a Mandatory 13GB Install

daveh30

@JaxonH The Wii U version actually doesn't even support off tv play. They used it for dual-screen full time, same as Zombi U. No off tv, no pro controller support, dual screen only.

Honestly, the biggest reason to rerelease this as a full price game is that it's a great game that almost no one got to play. Wii U had such a small install base... People will actually get a chance to play it now that it's coming out on PS4 / Xbox1 . Switch

Re: Lego City Undercover Box Reveals a Mandatory 13GB Install

daveh30

@kobashi100 if this ends up being true, and not just some printing error, Nintendo is just as to blame for allowing it. Nintendo would be well within their rights to tell them to a) put the full game on an adequately sized card, b)go digital only or c) take your game and shove it. All of which are better options. Nintendo can't allow this to become common practice.

Re: Lego City Undercover Box Reveals a Mandatory 13GB Install

daveh30

Love this game on Wii U and was on the fence about picking it up again on Switch. This is a deal breaker. I'm not one who gets their panties in a knot over storage space, but this is just flat out anti-consumer practices, and I won't support it with a purchase. Its cheap, and it's lazy. Nintendo should not be allowing it.
3rd parties pull crap like this, then wonder why their game won't sell. Either put the whole game on the cart, or go digital only.

Re: Developer Survey Reveals Worrying Lack Of Interest In Nintendo Switch

daveh30

I don't think 'lack of interest' is an accurate way of interpreting these numbers. We know of devs who are interested in developing for Switch, but haven't been given access to dev kits yet (the Axiom Verge guys, for example), and others like Jools Watsham (from Atooi), who at the time of this survey was fairly open on Twitter that he was trying to get a dev kit, but did not yet have one. He has since confirmed Treasurenauts to be in development for the Switch.

If the results are the same next year, THAT could be called lack of interest. Right now, it's more lack of access...
