A new English trailer has been released for Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition on Switch, and it's all looking rather lovely.
Featuring new outfits based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a good look at some of the 29 playable characters, and more fighting action than you can shake a Master Sword at, this trailer will likely get new players all hyped up for the game's release this spring - and maybe even those of you who will be playing for a second or third time, too!
As shown in the video this Switch edition is set to include all previously released content, as well as some new goodies to enjoy on top of that, cementing its 'definitive' status.
Will you be trying this one out for the first time on Switch, or are you all tired out from the Wii U and 3DS versions?

Ha, I was hyped as soon as they announced it. Won't get it for a while though.
The European trailer is better and longer.
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition – Overview Trailer (Nintendo Switch)

Cut down enemy hordes as Legend of Zelda™ characters – in full 1080p TV mode – or in two-player on one system! Link and Zelda can battle in costumes from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game, while Tetra and King Daphnes appear in scenes based on the Legend of Zelda™: The Wind Waker game. Find and care for fairies who will aid you in battle!
Here's the European boxart.
It's the same as the Japanese cover which is nice. I think you'd get more bang for your buck with all the DLC included than in Fire Emblem Warriors though it depends what you're in to and whether you've played Hyrule Warriors before.
So excited for this one! Im not one to usually care one way or another, but that box art looks terrific as well!
Hope we get a firm date soon
Looks good and we might be able to spend our Nintendo gold coins to get a discount (if I read correctly)?
woo hoo. always wanted to play this. day 1!
I already have it on the Wii U and 3DS as well as all of the DLC for both, so I don't know if I'll be getting it for the Switch too. I'd be more tempted if they added some Breath of the Wild characters and content, like Kass, Sidon, Revali, Daruk, Urbosa, or Mipha.
I'll trade-in my 3DS and Wii U versions and get this one 👍
They crazy asking $60 for this. Maybe someday if cheap used or when it goes on sale.
I have the Wii U version. Good game, but not the kind i'd feel the need to buy again. Recommend it for those who haven't played it before, though
Dynasty Zelda Warrior ??
@Agramonte dude this is both games 60 + 40 and all the dlc for both 40. Of you had picked it all up on release you would have spent 140 bucks. This price is totally justified.
I can’t say I’m confident I’ll be triple-dipping on this one. FEW is still keeping me plenty busy and is a mechanically better game.
@Agramonte As others are telling you. $60 for all DLC included and 3DS bonus things too. That’s a steal of a price. $60 is totally fair.
@thesilverbrick I say both games have their goodsides and downsides. Neither is better than the other.
This is now one I officially regret buying the Wii U version of.
Never played this before the Switch announcement. I’ve tried the 3DS demo, but downloading and listening to the soundtrack has got me especially hyped.
I lost interest in the Wii U version and traded it in soon after getting it. Been meaning to give it another chance though, so probably getting this at some point.
Less than 30$ and I’m in.
@Axlroselm you guys really don’t know how much content is here do you?
So glad I skipped the 3ds version. Still working through the wiiu version so this edition will keep me busy for a long, long time. So much content in this game it's sorta nuts.
Time for Impa to wreck some fools.
Meanwhile, I'm reminded that people were telling me Nintendo was never gonna do this, and that they'll never do the same with Fire Emblem Warriors...bologna. I'll be picking up this version, since I like complete packages, and I'll gladly wait for FEW to do the same before I delve into it. I think people forget that while it's Nintendo Published, Tecmo Koei still had a hand in their creation...and boy, do they love to milk their games...
Make it $5 and I will buy two.
Not really, I'm down for this at the given price, I just might not buy it immediately. I played it on 3DS, but I'd really like to see the Switch graphics instead. I think the price is fair, just not in a crazy rush to get it.
Have wii u version with dlc, but never got 3ds version so I'm looking forward to this. Day 1.
@KingdomHeartsFan they actually fixed this with a switch Warriors button during battle.
oh yes I am buying it.
@SuperTeeter64 @AlternateButtons @faint There no 2 games. The 3DS was not an original game - it was a port of the WiiU with all the DLC - and the 2 new chapters and map. And if you got the 3DS port it gave you a code to download the characters and weapons to the WiiU.
Getting a port, of a port of a port is not 2 games. Bayonetta is 2 games for $60. And not like these games were that great to start off.
Day One I can't wait to get my hands on this and I never got to play the 3DS version so I'm hyped.
Only ever had the 3ds one and not for long. Definitely grabbing this.
Now if they start releasing all of the DLC for the 3DS version of this game for free then I might consider picking this game up. Until then I ain't paying for them to flip 3DS players the middle finger.
@KingdomHeartsFan more like 1st gen Pokemon. When you switch during battle everyone you use during the fight gets equal experience
@Agramonte the 3ds one had different adventure maps, fairy systems, different challenges, different extras ect ect ect. I played both a ton. They are very different games.
@faint @faint No we don’t.
Hyrule Warriors has the most content and Fire Emblem Warriors has the better gameplay. Quantity vs Quality?
...They are both very good games though, so you can't go wrong with either of them.
@Ryu_Niiyama good choice skipping 3ds. It was good, but the lack of co-op is making me get very tired of it. Wish I could slug my way through adventure mode maps with a buddy.
@Totaldude911 I couldn't deal with the performance drop between the two systems and since I had the season pass on wiiu I had more than enough content to not care about additional adventure maps/story mode. A buddy gave me the codes for the characters...which was all I wanted.
I've said before but i will only get it if it has cross saves with the 3ds
@alasdair91 that’s what I do and already did in situations like this. Also why I prefer physical still.
This was a great game, and I see the value here (base game, all DLC from both versions, ADD added content). I already have the Wii U version though, so it's not for me. If I'm going to invest in a musou game, I'll get Fire Emblem Warriors instead. But I'm glad to see this game (and Lana!) having another life, and anyone who purchases this will be pleased.
I supposed the Extra Definitive Edition will be out on Nintendo's next home console, with all new DLC from this version included.
Joking aside, I'd say this is another game from the Wii U library that is very welcome on the Switch.
...and here I felt smart for staying my hand and buyind the Almost Definitive Edition on the 3DS (albeit with poorer graphics)...
This game looks very very repetitive? Is it?
@Minattz Any game can be very repetitive. But seriously. Yeah it can honestly be. You’re always attacking 100s and 100s of enemies. Fighting leaders/bosses. There’s not much to it. It’s a simple yet fun style game.
Really excited for this.
Gonna tripple dip for sure.
@KingdomHeartsFan sorry for the confusion. I ment they fixed it in the rerelease.
Never played the Wii U or the 3DS version. I will definitely get this ASAP!
For some reason I really like hyrule warriors on Wii u, so I ended up getting fire emblem warriors on switch and I am not into it at all. Anyone else have that problem?
I might check it for the first time.
Skipped the 3DS version, so I'm hyped to jump back into this on Switch. Sooooo much content for one game, gonna be great.
take dynasty warriors and zelda enemy's and good characters. And you got the best dynasty warriors game ever or at least that's what they said about the wii u version. Which i never owned so i may well pick this up on switch!.
Is it just me or was this game incredibly difficult? I'm not talking about the main game, I'm refering to the DLC. I felt like it was too brutal so I gave up. All my characters were level 100-110 and I still couldn't get through it. I couldn't get past more than 3 majoras mask missions. I felt like Fire Emblem Warriors was better balanced on the difficulty.
@Tendogamerxxx they raised the level cap with every DLC map so by the end it was like 255, the map difficulties are based on that. So for example that last map expected you to be a much higher level, gotta grind those characters up.
What do you think the odds are that this will get another wave of DLC? Not that I’d complain, heck it would sell me to buy it again if I could play as characters from BotW or even some excluded fan favorites like Groose.
I got the 3DS version, pretty fun if you liked any Warriors game from Koei but i wouldn't recommend the double dip if you already played before. Unless you're really bored and have nothing else to play.
Have they confirmed 2 player co-op?
If yes then I'll buy it. I owned it on Wii U and enjoyed it. Conquered the Story mode but I never had a chance to get into the other stuff and never bought the DLC so I'm sure my son and I will have plenty of fun with it.
@Agramonte
Actually, they were two separate versions. And you are actually getting each of them because 3DS you had to buy to play on the go, and Wii U you had to buy to play it on the TV. I literally spent $100 just to have this game on the TV and on the go (not even counting season pass).
I could easily sell both of those versions to cover the cost of this but, I'm not hurting for money that bad. I don't need to sell my games. But I definitely want this one because for one single price I am getting everything I got in that $100+ in a single cartridge that performs on the TV or on the go and, even better than that, it gives me the full console version on the go not some 240p dialed back handheld version with cell shades and thick pencil outlines.
And that's the thing with Switch. It's really hard for a game not to be worth it. They'd have to start selling games for $100 each before the value of what you're getting would no longer be worth what you're paying. That's why a lot of people prefer to buy all their games for Switch.
@Fred13 Yup! It was confirmed in the reveal trailer. Me and my gal are excited to play it together!
Never thought i would triple dip one game, but loved both Wii U and 3DS versions, so just take my money
@JaxonH No it is not - The 3DS is the WiiU version with all the DLC and an extra chapters. I have the 3DS version and had zero reason to play it on WiiU. You playing the same core game over.
Nop - People will buy the best game available to them and play it where ever that is. Why nobody cares that MH:W is not portable anymore. All that matters are the games.
@Agramonte
Yes it's the same core game. But an entirely separate purchase. An entirely separate purchase which I and many others willingly made to achieve access to said game on handheld and tv
Never played this on Wii U. If this runs well I'm tempted, might be a good fit for the Switch and being portable will give me chance to play it.
@Ryu_Niiyama You basically got the full experience. All the new adventure maps were basically more of the same
