The 4 player party rhythm games are worth full price by themselves (no drum needed, think Rhythm Heaven, but 4 player - both vs and coop)

So great! I've been playing it a lot of late. I've called it the last great game of the 3ds.

I stopped playing it because I was hoping for a switch port. With no port I drive back in. Great game!

I don't know.
I loved the original R-Type, and bought the collection for Switch.
...but I'm NOT loving the blood and enemies - one of them looks like it's being beaten up by bullets for no good reason. I feel sorry for the creature.

I actually busted out Star Fox Zero yesterday and played it for the first time and had an absolute blast (notably I essentially ignored the pad view - which I know is probably holding me back from being a top scoring machine).

It's b/c I played SF0 yesterday I checked out this review...and I think I'll just go back to Star Fox, it was fun. I loved the gyro-copter (whatever it is called) with the hacking robot and going into walker mode, but blasting through the fleet engagement was easily the best part.

Recently got back into playing on my 3DS b/c I realized I'd never played Stretchmo.

I love that series!

Missing a few gems like:
Pushmo World
WiiU Party
Kirby & the Rainbow Curse

I went back and looked at my time spent on WiiU games - it was almost entirely on multiplayer games, and TONS of times on those games (We still pull out Game & Wario b/c of the great multiplayer stuff!)

With that separate screen on the controller, the WiiU provided game play experienced not available anywhere else - it was an underappreciated FAMILY fun console.

Also - Need 4 Speed: Most Wanted U was excellent!

Wait!? The generic Punisher meets Solid Snake wannabe looks like somebody else's generic Punisher meets Solid Snake wannabe?

They should BOTH be ashamed for having such boring generic characters. Can we all get together and sue both companies for that?

Xeodrifter is such a fun, perfectly long (short) Metroid inspired game. It's best on 3DS, but worth playing everywhere (I bought and played through it on both Switch and 3DS).

Mutant Mudds I want to love, but I find the difficulty SO frustrating. My least favorite thing in gaming is to die b/c you didn't know when you jumped that there was something waiting to kill you that you couldn't see.

Own it and played through it. We found it WAY too difficult as the sloppy controls are part of the experience.

With all the accessibility options on it is boring and pointless.
With them all off it is frustration with a capital F! With some on it is fun for a dedicated coop group. Not a stand out, but worth playing!

Unless you've been completing missions during November/December, this isn't an option for you anyway.
You have to complete 14 missions to get the pins, and there aren't enough still available (they have closing dates) if you are just starting now.

I did get the first set, and they are cool, and I'd love this set, but the difficulty in getting these sets is not cool.

Will the left controller drift?
If not I'd buy it to replace my 5 sets of joycons that do...

Nintendo has been consistent for multiple generations.
1- Mario Kart (done - sadly)
Zelda (from the previous generation - done)
1- Zelda (from the current generation - that often simultaneously launches with the next gen - TP & BoTW)
Metroid - maybe if they feel like it
F-Zero (don't make me laugh)
1- 3D Mario (done)
1- New peripheral project (Ring Fit - done)
1- Animal Crossing (done)

Mostly Nintendo slows down w/time every system release - Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart were in the first year of the 3DS, and they stood for a long tiem.

This time around we had Zelda + Mario + MK in the first year - it leads to a LOT of WAITING b/c there won't be another MK on the Switch. It's unlikely there is another 3D Mario (just remakes).

We have to wait for the next gen...

There will be a Switch specific Zelda (unless it also is launched simultaneously on Switch 2 --- just wait, it'll happen!)

The thing is, Nintendo makes "EVERYGREEN" games, and they can't have MK9 hurting sales of MK8...so...be prepared to wait...

I know a lot is shut down - but I also know that I see people out walking more than ever, that bicycle sales are crazy high - seriously go try to buy one, and that National Parks were busier than ever this year.
I get COVID is impacting things - I also wonder if AR might have had some positive impact from COVID as well? I mean, there is no question that people are out and about - Pokemon Go had a better year in 2020 than 2019.

Prediction: WiiU will be remembered fondly, and will become an expensive collector's item, along with all it's non-ported Nintendo made games, of which there are more than a few.

I'm curious, are you fighting the controls the whole time, b/c if so, it may be brilliant, but not at all for me. I hate games where I'm fighting the controls.

These were inventive, something in always appreciative of!

The 30fps is a real killer here, and EA knows it, at least they talked about how important 60fps was for Burnout Paradise, so I can't imagine it isn't anymore.

I wish we could get the WiiUs Most Wanted to come over, I think it is better than these, though I'll probably pick up Hot Pursuit once it drops low enough in price (which it will...you just have to wait, and after waiting 10 years for the game, what's 10 more months?)

@SigourneyBeaver - I totally agree - HOW does the industry and how do the players not care or stand up or ???

I came in interested in the game, looked at the image and was immediately disappointed.

Trine 4 was so, so good!
The ability to attach ropes to objects opened up a ton of fun play.
Much improved combat made the combat parts enjoyable.
It's easily the best in the series, and was a fantastic game by my measures. I'll absolutely get the DLC.

@LinktotheFuture - While it is on a list, it wasn't on any of the lists shown here. It's worth noting that Switch is still getting sales - so it may drop off.
I think BotW is easily the best game ever made and it is hard to play games after playing it b/c they are all so inferior - I love the game - just pointing out that Zelda is an interesting beast when it comes to widespread sales.

AMAZED by Galaxy - I remember being awed by it, and it transfers SO well to HD! That game made the whole thing worth it!

STRUGGLING w/30fps of Sunshine and 64 - both games make me motion sick - particularly Sunshine w/it's 'heat' effect.

DISAPPOINTED there's no Galaxy 2 - for my money the best of all the Marios.

Funny enough - Zelda: Wind Waker is the only Zelda on any of those lists!

Reviews are not going well for this game anywhere (71 on Metacritic).
It's interesting b/c it was seen as a darling on mobile - and it only leaves me to believe what one review said: when there is no real competition it is great, but when you have to go up against console quality games like Breath of Wild, it no longer is that great.

I wanted to love the first b/c let's face it, these guys get visuals! However it had animations there were just off and the combat was dreadful. I was hopeful this one would fix things, but it is clear that designing for mobile made them simplify the controls to a point where they hurt the experience when compared to having all the buttons on console. The only question is why they didn't change things, like add a trigger for lock-on, as you'd expect on a console.

That is where mobile games fail when coming to console - not making use of the console controls.
I know mobile games can look great - I want them to play great.

I'm disappointed this game doesn't play great based on all the reviews I've read. That consistency says there is a problem that should be resolved.

Hopefully part 3 will focus more on console controls!

Nintendo may not be smart, but compared to Pachter they're brilliant beyond reason.

I appreciated that the dev has focused on bringing this to switch and hope the improved controls over mobile will lead to better review scores.
I'm cautiously optimistic.

@doctorhino I think there only way to get it would be on a used system that already had it, sadly.

@Friendly Neither of those games were published in the US by Level 5, this wouldn't affect games like Ni No Kuni and Professor Layton.

Honestly, this is really non-news, or potentially good news as I'd much rather see Level 5 continue doing Professor Layton instead of trying to do a spin-off (Katrielle) - which was done specifically so they could release their own games in the US w/o a publisher (NOA owns the Professor Layton publishing rights in the US).
Snack World and Fantasy Life (NOA owns US publishing) are in the same boat.

So, potential good news is that we could see a proper Professor Layton game b/c of this news.

Switch needs the Super Mega Baseball version of EVERY sport.
(except NBA - 2K totally covers Switch with their best effort, regardless of what you think of it, it's consistent across platforms)

I try to create the world I want to live in, and 'constant cursing' isn't a part of that world, so I'll skip it.
(there are plenty of other games out there, so no issues for me, and for those who want 'constant cursing' as a part of their world the review's call-out will be beneficial as well! Everyone wins!)

I liked the first game on WiiU for a bit, and visually it looked crazy better in action than in screenshots.

...but I burned out on it pretty quickly. It played like a puzzle platformer, but it was HEAVY on execution, which is great for many, but that style of play often exceeds my frustration meter.

Not seeing it either.
Looking forward to the game.
I'm a fan of three first three games, but not the more modern ones, so this is looking right up my alley.

I'm glad EA doesn't make this game.
If they did it would remove the extra modes and the microtransactions.
Everyone here would be mad, but for a different reason.

For me, I LOVE the 2K series.
The gameplay is easily the best basketball out there, ever.
Even if it falls short of real basketball (often and stupidly). It's just an impossible bar.

For me I don't play MyPlayer or MyTeam.
I play franchise - it is an amazing mode of incredible depth.
I have put dozens of hours into it in each of the 2K games I've bought.

Is it an 8?
Well for me it is a 9 or 10 - rarely do I play games as much as this game. I have TONS of sport games, most of them break down pretty quickly. They don't scale with your abilities, they end up being shallow and easily broken by mechanics that aren't well thought out for LONG TERM play.

NBA2K is the antithesis.
There is tons of long-term play, you can almost always get better, and then go online for more play.

If you want the RPG mode or the myteam mode, you may have a different experience.
That said, I wonder if they should sell them as 3 different games?
Each one I think is worth the price of entry for the right player.

For me, I agree with the review, but would score it higher.
If you like NBA - this is an awesome game, literally the best, hands down, and not just the best NBA game, it's one of the best 2 sport games around (the show is the only one that is better).

Drifting in the joy-cons is a JOKE.

I've bought every Nintendo console and still have most of them. I play with the WiiMotes nearly weekly - I've NEVER had a problem w/Nintendo hardware!

...until now...

I have bought 5 sets of joy-cons.
They all drift.

You can make them drift less by sitting VERY CLOSE to the system.

It's clearly a design problem, and honestly Nintendo should be ashamed and sending out replacements like candy.

Mostly I just play w/my pro controller b/c the joy-cons are a joyke.

I've been super interested in this though I didn't really like the last Hyrule Warriors.

This time around having it on console (instead of 3DS) and having the BotW art-style and a REAL story make it tempting...

Add Co-Op = it'll be hard not to buy this game

That is one awesome multiplayer game (for up to 8). It's silly songs and brilliant painting mode make it a common choice for my crew.

I'll pick up Boomerang Fu at some point too, just b/c it plays 6! I prefer 8 player games, but they are few and far in-between, so 6-player games always get a look too.

Is that Local 8-player multiplayer?

I buy nearly every game that supports 8-player local multiplayer (same console!).

This looks crazy - I can't decide if it is brilliant or will create a new level of frustration previously unknown to man - but I can't wait to try it!

Loving this game, it was one of my favorites of last year, and I didn't even get to dungeon mode until this year.

Dungeon Mode is like Zelda in the Crypt world (instead of Crypt in the Zelda world). There's seriously 2 games in this game, and that was before they added the Octavio's Ode (which is like another story mode).

I'm a big fan of this game, picked up the season pass and have played a ton...and will for sure play a ton more - WELL worth the money.

We've really enjoyed the current Switch Game, it was an unexpected hit for my family, and after playing it so much we bought a drum as well, which is SO MUCH more fun.

I'm excited for these new updated releases, it was easily the best thing in the direct mini today. Excite!

Monster Boy I thought was very uneven. Extreme difficulty spikes made me finally give up on it near the end.
Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap, is worth getting, though notably it feels old. If you didn't play it back in the day you'll find lots of the game design to be obtuse.

I think Origami King is getting under-appreciated here, for whatever it is worth.

I'm curious what % of people who rated it have played it.

...and Sticker Star was horrible. I tried SO hard to like that game. After playing it I'd decided no more Paper Mario for me. I only got the Switch game b/c I needed to use my voucher and had everything else. That was a lucky stroke b/c it is a good game, not a great game, but maybe the best Nintendo release in 2020?

Disappointed...

...by the fact that MK8 has been sitting unplayed on my Switch b/c I'd already played the heck out of it on the WiiU.

We've never gone longer in-between updates to the MK series, which is my favorite (and no, the frustrating to control phone game doesn't count).

MK8 could use some love and DLC...right about 3 years ago!

I also didn't like the first one, the combat and controls were not compelling.

I'm hoping for a demo of this on switch.
It looks great, but do did the first one.
Visuals aren't enough for me, I look for an amazing experience, and it's hard for companies to match up with Nintendo when it comes to amazing experiences.
