Chicken Wiggle was supposed to release last year, but now that he has the Kickstarter money it may not even make it this year, because he's busy working on other games instead.
Planet Alpha - has a demo, and it's barely worth playing.
Football Heroes Turbo - is a great game I haven't seen anyone talk about. Great combo of old-school Tecmo Bowl with modern design (player cards + leveling) and a touch of Blitz (punching, oh so much punching!)
Not a 'hidden' gem, but I've been LOVING BoxBoy + BoxGirl. As a co-op platform puzzle game I am so, so happy with it!
I have the R-Type on Switch that includes 1 & 2. I haven't played 2 yet, I think, though I love RType 1 more than any other shmup, I'm just no longer interested in the genre. The 'newer graphics' included w/RType 1 also were really disappointing - not the graphics themselves, but that the game played differently with movement and enemy location feeling very different. It was the polar opposite of the updated Monster Boy the Dragon's Trap.
@BulbasaurusRex good list of games that I know well! MVP is legendary, but I felt the games were too long, though I loved how throwing worked on defense to provide risk and reward.
I love Baseball Stars, but I gotta say this year's RBI is better than Baseball Stars 2 (which I own on Wii along with Power Pros).
Honestly, I think if you're looking for a fun to play baseball game, this year's RBI hits the spot well. The gameplay is solid and a lot of fun.
Last year's review was unfair, this year I think the score is off, but otherwise it's a decent review.
I don't have the time to get into the show, but am an avif baseball fan who has bought several dozen baseball games over the years.
Baseball Stars NES and the High Heat series on PC (NOT console) remain my favorites, but honestly, this year's RBI comes in high on the list.
It plays well, is super fun, visually good, and well, I'm honestly loving it. It's everything I wanted Baseball Advance (GBA) to be.
I strongly recommend it, except one issue - I get stutters and frame rate drops each game in the later innings.
There are bugs that are frustrating, like the time a foul ball to the dugout was ruled a hit, which made me lose a game, but mostly I just can't wait to play another game... Except for those stutters... I'm hoping for a patch for those.
If you like baseball, and are not playing the show, I highly recommend RBI! You'll find this year's version is a really fun baseball game to play at home and on the go.
ARMS - is the game I've played online the most - every party crash I pull it back out. It remains the game I feel is least appreciated on the Switch - due to it's brutal early learning curve. I'm glad they are continuing to do Party Crashes - they have plenty of people playing them.
MK8 - I played a good bit online, and can humbly say I'm insanely good at the game, but the cheaters make things frustrating online. Watching someone fire a blue shell at the start line, right as the race begins, before we've even gotten to the power-ups is frustrating and happens more often than it should.
Rocket League - such a disaster online. I really liked it local, played 30 hours with friends and family, then went online and stopped playing the game altogether. I've never seen worse match-making in my life.
Not interested. If that style of game appealed to me I'd own an Xbox. I can't stop rolling my eyes at the dialogue and power-tripping game play. Enjoy!
It's not as good as the other games and suffers from having 11 stories instead of a big story. They pull them together at the end, when the game finally hits its stride.
The puzzles are too simple and the mobile phone roots of the title hurt it. Also, the main characters are nowhere near as interesting as the Professor!
Overall, good to have if you love the series, but by far the weakest Layton game.
Pre-ordered on Best Buy! I have most every link including both from Wind Waker, the Ocarina one & Skyward Sword. My favorite is the Majora's Mask one (and it had the best in-game armor unlock in Breath of The Wild).
The Nintendo life review of RBI was one of the most uninformed reviews I've ever read.
As someone who loved the NES Baseball Stars, and played the heck out of the original RBI Baseball, this new game is just what I want, and I've put a lot of hours into it.
It isn't MVP Baseball, MLB the show, or anything that performs like a Sim. It isn't deep in strategy and team management (however it is more Sim than those NES titles mentioned above by miles).
Having played dozens of baseball games over the years, I'd say the RBI of today plays most like RBI baseball of the NES era out of any game I've played.
I think the negativity towards this series is largely unfair (at least it is unfair starting last year, pre last year RBI was pretty crappy!)
For me I'm stoked we get the game in March.
I'll buy it digital on day one because I want it always available on my system.
I'm looking forward to it with gusto!
I bought Super Mega Baseball last year waiting for the much delayed RBI. Super Mega had skill and charm, it's very good, but the mix of arcade and simulation in RBI wrapped up in games you can play in under a half hour is EXACTLY what I'm looking for.
RBI has its issues, but it is A MUCH better game than some say.
At the end of the day, if you want a proper complex Sim, this isn't the game for you. The Show is like NBA 2k, if that is what you want you'll be disappointed with RBI.
If you want an arcade game that captures light Sim features, RBI is a great game.
The first game has kept me from buying the second. Pressing steal on defense usually leads to no visual change on the screen. It only shows a steal animation if you time it right, otherwise you can spam the steal button and see your player not respond on screen.
NBA jam is fluid on defense, playgrounds is all offense.
Playgrounds looks good, but having played many hours of each, playgrounds is a poor imitation of Jam, and don't get me started on how bad the commentary is in playgrounds. I turn off the sound because it is so bad.
If you like arcade style sport games I recommend checking out Football heroes turbo. It's not pretty like playgrounds, but it plays amazingly well (she's got it where it counts).
There is NO game I play more than Mario Kart. On EVERY platform for decades.
...and I have ZERO expectation this will be good. Mario Kart minus the controller is no fun. Tilt is ok, tilting the screen and taking away physical buttons is NOT ok. Mario Run on mobile proved just why mobile is not worthy of such great IP as Mario, the mobile experience does not measure up at all.
I wish Nintendo would make Advance Wars for Mobile, and/or other games where being forced to use touch controls don't ruin the game.
I highly recommend you include Football Heroes Turbo in one of them. I get the sense it totally flew under the radar, perhaps b/c visually it isn't as flashy as the terrible playing NBA Playgrounds.
Football Heroes Turbo - if you like arcade style football like Tecmo Bowl, but want it with a deep modern meta - is WONDERFUL!
New Star soccer on PC is easily my favourite Soccer/football game, yes I think it's better than FIFA.
I really wish that was what had come to Switch.
I may get this anyway, but it seems like a missed opportunity bringing the mobile version to Switch instead of the PC version.
Granted this doesn't look as good as FIFA, but game play wise, it offers a row experience that affects got other players respond to you while playing. If you don't hangout with your teammates they won't pass you the ball during matches. If you spend to much time with your girlfriend, your training and then your stats suffer.
It's a remarkable game that also played excellent, if a bit on the arcade-y side.
Other M is the only Metroid I played to 100%. Other M is the only Metroid I've beaten more than one time (3). Other M had many flaws, but it also had unique gameplay. The switch from isometric to first person was wonderful. I enjoyed MP3, I'll buy an HD Trilogy, but I'd rather have something new and interesting then yet another, more of the same, over and over, why not yet again, first person sci fi space shooter.
I really want this. I really want this to run well on Switch. I really want to play it. I really can't play it if it chugs, as I get motion sickness easily. I really want this to be awesome on Switch!
I really enjoyed Civ 6 on Switch, and I bought RBI Baseball on day 1 (and will again next year - though I usually buy digital).
I wish AAA 3rd parties sold better on Switch, I'd hate to lose their support. I love having so many great Indie games. I'm glad we have their support. Turbo Football is my latest game I'm so glad is on Switch.
I was excited, then realized we were looking at PS4 graphics.
It's amazing that Switch doesn't have a decent racing game outside of Mario Kart. When I want a good racing game I'm still going back to Need For Speed: Most Wanted U on the WiiU.
I keep hoping, but we're consistently getting ho-hum titles on Switch that require you to squint to see a good game. (Fast RMX is probably the best looking of the bunch, but the level (track) design is just awful.)
I picked up Hollow Knight on sale, but didn't even start it as I spent hours and hours in Civilization, which I got on sale. I also played Smash, Mario Party, Overcooked 2 DLC, and just started into the copy of RiMe I got on the cheap (and am happy I got).
I'm definitely at the place where I have more games to play than time to play then, so, I'm having to pass on other games I want to check out that are on sale right now!
I'm definitely interested. I'd love to put it on my wishlist. I'd love my wishlist to email me when games are on sale. I also just a bunch of games over the holidays, and most of them aren't being played b/c I can't pull myself away from Civilization on the Switch, and when I do, Smash is waiting!
Outside of MK there aren't good racers on Switch, which is disappointing. I look at this and think I should fire up Most Wanted U on my WiiU. I'll probably be happier that way. Still, I hope devs keep putting games on the system, I'd love an honest to goodness good racer on Switch. Since NFS: MWU there hasn't been one, and I'm not confident there was one at all before it. Burnout Paradise where are you?
Very interested, but very afraid it will have a low/choppy frame rate and give me motion sickness. Will wait for comments from people who have actually played the game.
This is right up my alley, but I fear it'll trip my motion sickness. Fe was my most recent big miss for that. It is super frustrating to buy a game, play it ten minutes, and then realize you are horribly sick. I wish I could try it first, or get a refund if it made me ill.
I HATE Twitter video. It doesn't matter if I'm on a desktop, laptop, phone or tablet, home, work or a friend's house, there is a 90% chance I click to play, it then loads the actual page to play, I click again, and nothing.
I can't imagine it is me considering how many devices and networks I've tried it on. Maybe it is chrome? UGH! Hate Twitter video...even when it does work it's like 3x the clicks to start it. WHY!?

I feel sorry for the devs.
I will not be purchasing this game. I've got better things to do with my time.
Re: Granzella Asks Fans If They Want R-Type Final 2 On Switch

Re: Pocket Card Jockey Dev Team Discuss The Chance Of A Sequel
I STILL take and play this on every plane flight I am on.
I find it so frustrating at times, but so rewarding at others.
I'd love to have something to pull out when I start taking my Switch on plane trips (I still prefer the 3DS for trips...)
Re: Sega Ages Virtua Racing Speeds Onto The Japanese eShop Next Week
Cannot wait!
I'm curious to see if 8-player split screen is playable.
Re: After More Than Two Years Of Waiting, Anti-Grav Racer Redout Finally Gets A Switch Release Date
"I’m definitely not a fan of the controls / gameplay in Fast RMX, but it is a technical / graphical masterpiece"
That is well said!
The track design is also awful.
A great designer would have been such a great thing for Shinen.
Fast RMX has top of the line visuals, but below average game play, sadly.
Re: Civilization VI Now Supports Cross-Platform Cloud Saves On Steam And Nintendo Switch
I love this game on Switch!
I hope to see the DLCs I'in the future.

My son loves this game on 3ds.
We might get this.
Re: Feature: The Best Racing Games On Nintendo Switch
Saw the first few on the list and came to the comments to see if there is actually a good racer on the system beyond Mario Kart.
Not yet.
The WiiU, with Most Wanted, has better racing games than the Switch.
Looking forward to that changing!
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th February (North America)
RBI Baseball, pre-ordered.
Can't wait!
Last year was so much fun and such a huge improvement over previous years.
Re: Trials Rising On Switch Doesn't Rise Up To The Challenge Of Its Rivals
Noooooooo!
I've been waiting forever for this!
Why does it look worse than Trials on the x360?
... Back to civilization 6 I go. I want sure how to find playtime for Trials anyway.
Moto Heroz on WiiWare was great btw. From the Trials Dev.
Re: Isometric Puzzler Golf Peaks Tees Off On Switch Soon

Not that being mobile is bad.
It looks interesting, so maybe, or maybe I just buy the cheaper mobile version?
Re: Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom Appears To Be Getting A Switch Demo
Looking forward to playing the game eventually.
I've just got too many good games already waiting.
I loved the other Monster Boy on Switch.

It is much better than many games that have gotten reviews and is worthy of people's time.

Death Squared
Pode

Death Squared does seem like an omission here.

Just bought RiMe today.
Love it!
Isn't there another digital game with foxes?
Something with a tree in the title?
Re: Feature: Game Of The Year 2018 - Staff Awards
I've played Civilization 6 more than anything in the list. I'm glad we're getting good third party games on switch.
Especially because I had a day one WiiU with 50+ games, so much of the Switch library feels like "been there, done that."
Re: Nindie Round Up: GensokyoDefenders, Starman, OkunoKA, Conduct Together! and Viviette
I like the look of conduct together and starman, so as usual, I'm an outlier.

Honestly I love the idea of this game, the floaty movements of the characters may not work for me, but I so hope they will.
Re: Gear.Club Unlimited 2 Speeds Onto Switch Tomorrow, New Features To Be Added After Launch

Still, I hope devs keep putting games on the system, I'd love an honest to goodness good racer on Switch. Since NFS: MWU there hasn't been one, and I'm not confident there was one at all before it.
Burnout Paradise where are you?

I wish I could try it first, or get a refund if it made me ill.
Re: Review: R-Type Dimensions EX - Two Arcade Classics For The Price Of One
I remember when this was huge in the arcade, I was barely a teen then. I got to where I could get to level five on a quarter on a good day.
But I played a lot before I got that good.
Pre-ordered for the discount.
I am ready.
