A dual pack of Taiko no Tatsujin games has been announced in the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase and is headed to Switch in "Winter 2020".
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack will include localised and upgraded ports of two previously Japan-only 3DS titles: Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikū Daibōken (or 'Rhythmic Adventure 1') and Taiko no Tatsujin: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure (now renamed as the less imaginative 'Rhythmic Adventure 2').
These freshly-localised games set Don-chan on a time-travelling RPG adventure where he takes on enemies in rhythmic battles using the series' trademark taiko drum. Check out the trailer above to get a better feel for this RPG pair, or scroll down to digest some of the finer details from the PR blurb, as well as some screens from Nintendo's website:
■Enjoy a relaxing adventure through the world where you control Don freely in Story Mode!
Take care of foes you encounter in Taiko Battles!
Drum on the Taiko well to attack! Mess it up and you'll be attacked!
Compose a team of your favorite characters to take on even stronger enemies!■In "Rhythmic Adventure 1" you'll serendipitously meet Tocky who has the important job of protecting all of history.
He tells you his friend Ticky has been abducted by someone named Professor Timedyne.
This wily professor is trying to use Ticky to dismantle history!
Travel to all sorts of ages throughout history and do away with the bad guys!■In "Rhythmic Adventure 2" the treasures that protect the very being of the world, the Ooparts, have been stolen by the shady organization The Hexagria Magical Society!
In order to retrieve them, Don and Katsu embark on a grand adventure!
Will Don and his friends be able to retrieve the Ooparts successfully and save the world?!■And of course, you can play the Taiko Game Mode!
The library consists of over 130 songs, including 6 newly added titles such as “Pretender” by Official Hige Dandism and “Gurenge” from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba!
We enjoyed our time with Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun! when it released on Switch back in 2018, with our only major gripe being that you really needed the drum controller to get the best out of it. If you've invested in that satisfying peripheral, it'll no doubt please you to have another opportunity to break it out this Winter.
Let us know below if this announcement has got your heart beating like a particular percussion instrument.

I wish they'd release the actual drum over here in the States. My only options are unacceptably expensive imports or knockoff products that are still expensive.
BEYOND excited for this, Taiko 3DS 2 and 3 were extremely fun (and it looks like you can customize your Don again!)
This does look pretty good I have to admit. Really want the drum though, I’m crap with a controller.
This was the highlight of the Partner Showcase for me. I never played a ton of Taiko but I'm very interested in this. And it gives me a reason to break out the drum again.
@PBandSmelly yep, you can even switch your drum noise to a combination of objection/hold it
only time will tell if they're kept (although Touhou and Kirby aren't exactly farfetched considering the previous game on switch)
So, they said that it has a rhythm game mode which sounds great. Does anyone know if these will be different to those on the switch game or if they’re simply going to port that content to this one as a bonus?
This was a nice surprise.
Definitely no need for the drum controller to enjoy these games. The smile they put on your face is the same regardless!
They were 3DS games?! Ugh, I'd have much rather played them on there than the Switch...
I enjoy playing Drum n' Fun from time to time (even though I can usually only keep up on the lower 2 difficulties playing with the controller), so I'm definitely interested.
Highlight of the Direct for me.
This game piqued my interest and now I see ya'll taking about there being a drum? If there's a drum, shut up and take my money.
If this game has Sono chi no sadame like the original game did as dlc I will buy it
After wiiu ports it is time for 3ds ports... sigh
We've really enjoyed the current Switch Game, it was an unexpected hit for my family, and after playing it so much we bought a drum as well, which is SO MUCH more fun.
I'm excited for these new updated releases, it was easily the best thing in the direct mini today. Excite!
I'm only intersted in it if it comes with the drum for a decent price.
@Ralizah Personally, I don't mind swinging the JoyCons for the regular Taiko no Tatsujin, even though it isn't very precise. But to be honest, I don't really care how well I do in that game, I just like playing along to the music. But for an RPG were you need to win to progress? That could be a problem.
I am down for this. Looks weird and fun.
I'm all about it, but I'll need a physical copy. Otherwise I'll just wait for the digital version to go on deep discount.
My 2 youngest kids and I loved "Drum n'Fun" so this is very welcome
This honestly looks really cool and unique
Looks way better than Drum 'n' Fun with so much more content.
I really hated the abundance of DLC for Drum 'n' Fun. I would much rather that they periodically (annually?) released new installments with a bunch of new songs instead (while perhaps still making the songs available for DLC in the previous game).
It was nice , but unsure if I will buy this considering we already got so many rhythm games.
I never played the normal games of this series, but...rhythm RPGs. I'll keep an eye on this, wanna see more gameplay and stuff first, though.
Very Nice news! I have drum n fun and the drums. I Will absolutely get this adventure pack!
@Ralizah I am still not back but I felt I should drop this here:

Go!go!go!
Edit: to comment on the game, I wish they had included all 3 of the 3ds games (selfish reason as the first one is the only one I am missing) but I’ll double dip for switch.
@Ryu_Niiyama Thanks! I went ahead and preordered it.
Not usually keen on paying for new specialty controllers, but these taiko drums just look like so much fun to use!
I know you're not back, but it's good to know you're still around in some capacity. Hope things are going as well as they can for you.
@Ralizah @Ryu_Niiyama Instead of pre-ordering it from slow-poke Bandai Namco, Play-Asia had it in stock already:

@Retro_Player_77 Shipping seems a little steep for my liking, but I appreciate having an alternative source to consider!
