Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 6th - 12th July, revealing that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been knocked off top spot.
The game has been dominating the chart for the majority of its time on sale, but this week's new entry eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 managed to debut in number one and two on Switch and PS4 respectively. If you're unaware, the game is a popular, cutesy take on the sport released by Konami.
Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris was the only other newcomer in the top ten this week, with the rest being made up of Nintendo's usual heavy-hitters.
Here are the top 10 (first numbers are this week's estimated sales, followed by total sales):
1) [NSW] eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 (Konami) {2020.07.09} - 94.876 / NEW
2) [PS4] eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 (Konami) {2020.07.09} - 91.547 / NEW
3) [PS4] Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris (Bandai Namco Games) {2020.07.09} - 73.331 / NEW
4) [NSW] Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo) {2020.03.20} - 56.160 / 5.114.386
5) [NSW] Ring Fit Adventure (Nintendo) {2019.10.18} - 44.261 / 1.137.060

I want this game to be localized so badly!!
Konami still makes games?
@Gofixmeaplate so do i ...the mlb power pros 2008 ds only contained a bit... but love the style. Smc
B3 is great to brw
Power Pro is much more than a cutesy game. It's actually legit baseball. I really wish they would do an english language port. There's a significant Japanese language barrier on this one.
Go on Konami. Alot of people lost respect for you but you can still make good games. I am currently playing Metal Gear Survive (£5 disc at moment) and for everyone bashing the game, if you persevere it is actually not bad. I prefer it to some of the non sense MGS games, and it has just enough of MGS3 in it to earn it's survive moniker.
This headline couldn't speak more to the heart of Japan if it tried. I wish Baseball was as popular in the US as it is in Japan, rather than football...
Of course they won't translate something simple like a baseball game. I wouldn't be surprised if konami still holds a grudge over Americans supporting Kojima so much.
@doctorhino Doubtful. It's money. Konami is fueled by money. They were probably laughing at everyone who was expecting a game like Metal Gear, then Death Stranding came out. Haha.
Wish this baseball was localized
Really wish this was localised, having to play them with a translation guide is awkward for such a simple game. Hate the eBaseball name though, it was bad enough with eFootball.
Nothing is more humiliating than losing to Konami
I don’t even really like baseball, but I love this series.
Best-selling games of all time in Japan (retail sales only):
1) [NGB] Pokémon Red/Green/Blue: 10.23 million
2) [NGB] Pokémon Gold/Silver: 7.17 million
3) [NES] Super Mario Bros: 6.81 million
4) [NDS] New Super Mario Bros: 6.43 million
5) [NDS] Pokémon Diamond/Pearl: 5.83 million
6) [NDS] Pokémon Black/White: 5.54 million
7) [GBA] Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire: 5.34 million
8) [NDS] Animal Crossing Wild World: 5.24 million
9) [NSW] Animal Crossing New Horizons: 5.11 million
Animal Crossing New Horizons just outsold Animal Crossing New Leaf and Brain Training 2 at retail. It should outsell Wild World within the next 3 weeks.
@westman98
Amazing numbers!!
Man, The Last of Us 2 dropped like a stone. After 3 weeks its not even in the top 10.
I'm honestly kind of surprised Animal Crossing isn't on top this time.
@DockEllisD That is where my head went too, usually the PS version outsells the Nintendo platform version, and by a lot. This is a meaningful moment in understanding the types of users who have bought a Switch in Japan. It suggests that it is gaining the broader market quite well - which is a great thing for Switch owners b/c it means more games will consider and come to the platform.
Wow, great for Powerful Pro 2020 - it really needs to come West. I'll take even the old one 😕
Finally, some change to the monotony. If Ghost makes it in, we might even get something not cartoon graphics. Little steps Japan, little steps.
Oh so THATS the guy from Konami Crazy Racers! I always wondered who half the roster was as a kid
I don't understand Konami logic.
They still willing to release their eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 on Switch and PS4 but still don't want to release Dance Dance Revolution A20+ from Arcade to Switch / PS4. 😕
We need DDR on consoles again than that boring Just Dance games every year by Ubisoft.
Bring PowerPros to the west! Loved both games on the Wii, and would love it on the Switch!
New 3DS still outselling any Xbox console.
I assume it's still possible to buy a new New 3DS in Japan? Not just a 2DS/XL?
Hopefully Konami is aware that the west want's that baseball game. I would totally dig it.
Yep, me too. I'd love for Konami to bring this West, translate it. I've played last year's Powerful Pro a fair amount, but wish it had an English option... I think the Wii game was the last one localized. It's been too long! Oh, and the graphics are awesome (60fps and everything).
Power Pros > The Show.
And it's not particularly close.
Wow for once the Switch version of a new release actually sold better than the PS4 version. Usually it's the other way around.
Really surprised at Ring Fit Adventure's staying power. As much as I love it, I would never have thought it would move over a million copies in Japan.
Really hoping that new SAO game comes to Switch too. I enjoyed the two SAO titles on Switch currently.
How playable is this without localization? I know it's baseball, of course, but beyond that, how text-heavy is the game?
