@the_beaver
BotW owes a lot to the AC series for sure, climbing freely is a game changer. But whereas BotW blends ideas from Skyrim, Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption and adds a bunch of ideas of its own (god I love that chemistry engine), Immortals feels like Ubisoft told its AC studio "let's get as close to BotW as we can, gameplay-wise". Check out this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSuMZyCWqLQ
It does an admirable job, it's a good game, but it's clearly derivative from one source. Definitely looking forward to what the team does next, they only had 2 years for Immortals, after all.
@meeto_1 There's lots of control options, thankfully.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi The demo takes place in a completely different region from the main game and doesn't take place at the start of the game, so no the save data can't be transferred.
@the_beaver I like the game and it's worth playing, but it's about 80% a copy of Breath of the Wild. And BotW does everything a little better.
@duffmmann New 3DS and DSi are great examples... of handhelds that did barely anything with their extra power. I'd count them as arguments against a Switch Pro.
Nintendo has sold 70+ million regular Switches and it's selling insanely well, why fracture the market now? Just hold on for 2 years and bring a successor.
3 out of my 4 joy con are now drifting, it's pathetic. I can't believe they haven't updated their controllers yet. Switch is pretty much the perfect console in every other way to me.
"The list does seem to stretch the meaning of "indie" quite far, given that Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a Microsoft-published game, and Streets of Rage 4 is licensed out by Sega"
Indie usually refers to the developer rather than the publisher, though.
Hyper Light Drifter would be my favourite indie on Switch if it wasn't for Hollow Knight. Anyone who likes 2D Zeldas or action-packed games with a bit of challenge should check it out. That soundtrack is especially amazing.
Thanks for putting this on my radar, NL! I likely dismissed it because I'm not a fan of the art-style, but everything else sounds like my kind of thing.
Listening to the new tracks on YouTube, it seems they're almost exclusively metal or dubstep. I was definitely sold on this DLC before, but those really aren't my genres. I'll wait for a discount, personally.
Hoping DLC #3 contains some new environments and enemies!
@Yanina I can't speak for others but I didn't pick up Link's Awakening because it doesn't have enough content. Nintendo gets away with pricing their titles whatever they want because they're not available elsewhere. Not saying that's fair, but it's pretty clear EA is only releasing $60 Switch games so they can take full advantage of the sale-trick on the Eshop. You're welcome to buy it full-priced at launch, of course.
Overcooked 2 is easily one of the best multiplayer games on Switch.
I just wish the level selection was easier, what's with having to spend minutes loading overworlds and having to manually find that one level you liked so much? Just give us a list and the ability to favourite levels.
I don't want curation / quality control, because it'll delay every game on Switch by weeks/months and it'll result in people whining about their weeaboo titles being blocked.
Watch gameplay videos, read reviews and don't blindly buy eshop titles, it's not that hard.
@andyc777 In Color Splash I had no idea why I would even battle enemies anymore. They just dropped more cards to do more battles, etc etc. I started avoiding battles altogether. I got to the bit with the timed haunted mansion, where I failed to do all the tasks I needed to do in 30 minutes so the game reset my entire progress. I then closed the game, I couldn't believe they actually put that in a game: a required timed quest that the game doesn't tell you about.
I didn't even mind Color Splash's card-based combat, but I was wondering why on earth if all it does for you is give you more cards to fight more. So I skipped every opportunity to combat.
EA realises better than most posters here how well games on sale sell on Switch. Some people will pick it up full price, and most people (like me) will pick it up when it drops 50%-75%. Let's face it, 50% off is about the normal price for this. So basically, the higher the price is while still on sale, the more they earn. That's how you get to a base price of $50.
@Grandiajet @Kintypoo121 The second game is much, much more forgiving. The first one has you trying the same stage 12 times in a row to get an extra star, this one lets you progress with just 1 or 2 stars. There's also way less annoying level elements (slippery surfaces, lava).
Hyper Light Drifter is amazing, great soundtrack and combat system. Great cyberpunk atmosphere and storytelling through absolutely 0 text. Highly recommended for its original price, a no brainer for $10. Unless you dislike difficult games.
@EdScissorshands Turns out Good Job is developed by Paladin Studios, a Dutch indie team. So it's like The Stretchers: published by Nintendo, developed by indies.
Are you guys not going to post a news article for Good Job, a brand-new Nintendo-published co-op game about the boss' son, physically wrecking a company while doing menial tasks and failing upwards in your career? Easily the most exciting game of the bunch.
This'll be the best arcade racer on the Switch, then? Hope they make a new one at some point. Wish they'd add splitscreen multiplayer, something absent from tons of games from the PS360 era.
Alternative take on this game: It's impressive, but 30 hours in, I'm not having fun with it.
It has fantastic lore, it's beautiful and the quest lines are amazingly written. But none of the actual gameplay feels satisfying to me, including the combat and the Witcher senses. The overworld is a bore to explore without markers. As someone grown up with Nintendo's gameplay-first mantra, the game's not working for me.
I am glad it's selling well, though. Bring everything to Switch. Plus new games.
Derpy Link is funny. Lots of people are so serious about their Link. Do you remember what he ends up looking like in the remake? Derpy Link is perfect for this game.
