Sorry, Star Wars fans, but it seems LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has officially been delayed until next Spring.
The first sign of the setback was earlier this week via the official LEGO website - which said the game would be "coming in 2021" and now the Gamescom Opening Night Live gameplay reveal trailer has locked it in.
The good news is the game looks absolutely amazing. Players will be able to able to relive the greatest Star Wars moments as they play through all nine Star Wars saga films. Here's a full description from the LEGO YouTube channel:
The galaxy is yours with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga! Play through all nine Star Wars™ saga films in a brand-new LEGO video game unlike any other. Experience fun-filled adventures, whimsical humor, and the freedom to fully immerse yourself in the LEGO Star Wars universe like never before.
How do you feel about the delay and what do you think of the gameplay reveal? Tell us down below.

Well it's about time! Took you guys all day
This looks amazing! Granted, the video is most likely next-gen footage, but the gameplay looks superb! The pod racing looks like a spiritual successor to Pod Racer. And the space battles look like a spiritual successor to Rogue Squadron! So much love for the franchise is palpable in the work.
The only thing that annoys me is the voice acting, everything else looked perfect. Harry Potter was the pinnacle of mute slapstick comedy for the series.
Oh right, the delay. I don't mind waiting until spring if that means the Switch version will receive more polish and optimization! Fingers crossed.
@nessisonett
I actually think the voice acting works! Perhaps it's after the Lego Movies have existed that voice acting feels fine. They've already made many, many Lego franchise games without VA, and the dialogue in the trailer worked for me personally, so I'm excited! Especially when they show scenes like when Chewbacca punches C3PO. Way overdue.
Didn't hear about Xbox Series X and Xbox One sharing releases, is this going to be a standard thing for cross generation XBOX games?
This deal is getting worse all the time!
Noooooooooooo!
Sigh......That means we have to wait even longer for the next DC or Marve LEGO game!!!!!!!
However, I do have to admit that I love how they keep improving. I hope that they keep on going.
@Xiovanni @nessisonett you can turn off the voice acting entirely
@Benhop07 Yeah but the miming was the best part of the originals. Seeing Darth Vader and Dumbledore trying to explain plot without words was hilarious.
@Tandy255 beat me to it.
@HobbitGamer I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further.
Croppola....happens again...and what our Steelcase???
The lack of voice samples from the movies themselves takes it from a nailed on 10/10 to a 'I'll have to wait and see'.
I’m oddly enough a bit more excited for this game than I was at first. They seemed to have more of the “grunt” scenes than they have had in the past several games, and the voice acting feels like it fits oddly better too. Not to mention the added pod racer, x-wing, and speeder bits look really fun too! Still am going to wait for an inevitable price drop and reviews before I buy though.
Looks fantastic to me. Haven’t been this excited for a Lego game in a LONG time.
Could be the best modern Lego game ever, based on that trailer. It really looks good.
Looking good. Can’t wait to see some vehicle free roam xxxx
I was like oh voice acting were the hell is my grunts.
I think the circumstances surrounding the world also has something behind this delay, as literally everything has been pushed back. 2021 better not suck either! Plus 2021 better have some juicy BOTW 2 info
So this looks pretty, but... multiplayer? No word on that?
I have already played the lego star wars the complete saga but am looking fwd to all the extra stuff here. I think the CS may have been one of my first lego video games based on a film series and/or licenses. I ended up purchasing and playing the vast majority if these type of lego video games that followed. The kids and I loved them.
I think the Star Wars CS still always remained one of my favourites I think.
No PC version? In the end they show Ps4/5, Xone/XsX and Switch, but nothing about PC...
I liked the original games. Not a fan of the new trilogy. Might pick up the 360 version for nostalgic reasons
@Toy_Link thats what they are saying. not sure how long it will last okay for the xbox x. but the original and slim i cant see it lasting long
That is a really good trailer!
Forget about that cause holy cow this looks amazing o.O
It's like a LEGO version of the new Star Wars Battlefront series, it'll be interesting to see how it looks in handheld mode.
@RCGamer
It's still listed on Steam, I'm guessing they're just showing the physical versions.
With all the rumors running rampant about Disney doing a sorta erasing of the last 3 movies it made me wonder if there's any connection to the delay of this game. It looks to me they put a lot of effort into the trailer so that doesn't seem to be the case. They're just rumors of course and but I can only hope they turn out to be true.
Guess this goes from a Christmas present to myself to a birthday present to myself.
Sad, but I am very excited for this. Looks great, and the voices are pretty spot on. I like the VA as all the other LEGO Star Wars went without, so this just adds another layer of “newness” to it.
Only thing I’m praying for is REBELS DLC... or at least character packs of Jaris, Ezra, Chopper... the whole gang!!! And they’ve been a lego product in the past so they have the designs done!!!!! Pleeeeeeaaassssseeee?!?!?!?!
@RustedHero There is absolutely no chance that is true.
I haven't played a Lego game since The Complete Saga, though I tried some demos of some other ones like LOTR and The Hobbit. I'm actually looking forward to this, I just wish they would do classic grunts, as it always gave the game more character and charm. I'm also hoping they use the same Lego piece for Kylo Ren's lightsaber that was used in Lego Episode VII. I liked how it had cross guard vents instead of just having a cross shaped lightsaber blade which unfortunately looks to be the case in this game. I wonder why they wouldn't just reuse the same model for his lightsaber?
Oh, and does this game include Rogue One? Because that scene of Vader in the hallway sure looked like it.
I started playing DC super villains recently and was surprised how open world these games have become. It was about as open as Lego City undercover and a great time. Really looking forward to more of these newer ones now.
It actually looks worth the wait which is good. I was starting to get skeptical after how long they waited to show any gameplay.
Insert Darth Vader "NOOOOOOOOO!" here.
@DaruniaJones88
If it's already done, why wouldn't they release it in-time for the all important holiday season and for both console launches? Seems like they'd just be losing money from delaying it and gaining nothing in return if it was finished.
@DaruniaJones88
WB is releasing a Bukugan game this Christmas so they clearly don't have any problems with manufacturing or getting it to the stores.
And I sincerely doubt the economy would fix itself in just 3-4 month, especially to such a degree that the video game industry sells more in Spring than the holiday season during two large console launches (I don't know the exact percentage for WB Games, but Nintendo makes 60% of its revenue during the holiday season).
It seems more reasonable to me that they're still working on the game (as with most delays) instead of just keeping it on the shelf and being one of the first few games on the PS5 and Series X, possibly be the only mass market family friendly game on Series X, and not have to compete with any wide appeal Nintendo first party games on Switch because there's a chance that the economy could heal by then.
Do kids still like lego? My cousin's 9 year old only plays Fortnite. :/
Didn’t think it was possible, but that trailer even makes the sequels look good.
Just needs some Clone Wars in there now.
Better that than a half-broken game with half a million updates and DLC to “fix” it over the next 6 months
