EA's worst kept secret seems like it's almost ready to go. In case you forgot, we're talking about the long-rumoured Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit remaster based on Criterion's 2010 release.
In the latest development, the official Need for Speed account has now uploaded some new tweets and there's also a countdown that's showed up on the series' website - set to reveal all on 5th October 2020 (aka tomorrow).
If that's still not convincing enough, even more listings have popped up online. A Japanese retailer suggests the game will launch on 6th November, and there's even a local box art for the Nintendo Switch version.

Meh..........lost interest in this franchise years ago
Day 1 purchase, never got far in this on the PS3 due to GTA V.
They're holding the Underground remakes for some dire times
This is nice, but I was so hoping that Burnout 3: Takedown would be next. Maybe they think that Burnout is now "covered" due to the Paradise remaster, but it really isn't. I still consider Burnout 3 to be the absolute pinnacle of pure arcade racing, and the implementation of the Crash Junctions in that game was just absolute genius. But I am guessing that it won't happen now.
One of the better NFS games so I will certainly take it.
(Can't argue with the brilliance of Burnout 3 and that NFS Underground 2 is better though)
Something tangible for once, but is this an HP10-related image in particular, or just a vague NFS tease? The only factor speaking against a new game here is less than a year since Heat. And even among possible remasters, the pic looks more like it's from Carbon. 😆
Not that I'd mind Carbon either. I'm still not through with the original, and some mod I once installed in an attempt to fix display compatibility issues with V-sync (hey, for a while it worked - the image would still tremble a bit in menus, but not in gameplay) recently got an update that sank the whole thing's framerate, so now I may have to reinstall it anyway. But as par for the course with fan-panned works, it proved to be a fine game in reality, playing like Underground 2 with bits of MW05 and team mechanics (and I've beaten and enjoyed even the PSP version before). My only gripe is inability to free-roam upon events as casually - the radar somehow no longer distinguishes or removes the already finished ones (unless there's a HUD filter I've overlooked in the settings), so you're left repeatedly consulting the map and GPS-routing the new stuff.
Burnout Paradise, Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted were a great run from Criterion on the last generation. The other games in the Need for Speed series in the last and current gen have been average at best.
Since the first rumors many moons ago, I was waiting for this. I am so ready.
Is this before or after the mass effect trilogy will be announced?
I'm a bit on the fence with this one not gonna lie
I only want it if it's 60fps with split screen vs mode. My kids and i would love that!
Meh idc if it comes to switch im a huge jdm car fan and i cant wait for a new nfs and i’ll probably get it on ps4/ps5
Might pick this one up, more arcade racing games on Switch is a bonus
Remaster of a remake set for release, you say?
@Taarna why don’t you relax, sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what you really want from EA, little buddy...
@Slowdive Saw that too, and that makes sure I'll pick it up on another system instead. So sick of companies cheaping out like this still.

No I wouldn’t.
Nice, maybe day one if it's not as expensive as Burnout Paradise
Maybe Most Wanted U could be next as it uses the same engine (Chameleon)
The games not even that old, games like underground and underground 2 are in much more need of remastering
Hopefully after this they port Need For Speed Most Wanted U for Switch too.
@Shamrock and need for speed 1
Might get this one
@heiko I'm convinced at this point that EA just forgot those games exists.
Burnout Revenge is the Criterion game of choice for me. Paradise doesn’t even come close to the crash happy spectacle that I can’t get enough of.
It's EA. They'll release it at full new release price or almost. Like they did for Burnout Paradise. Because it's the Switch, you know, and people gladly pay a premium for Switch versions. #sickofthistrend.
gimme! gimme now!
Will probably get this, but have a lot to do on Burnout still.
This was need for speed before it started to get bad. If done right i will be buying again no questions asked.
An Xbox 360 launch title. Switch’s worst ever year gets even worse.
Definitely picking this up. Definitely not for €60. I'll wait until it's on sale for 20.
I like NFS so i'll probebly buy
Depends on the Price Tag ....and if the game is 100% on cart. the box art from japan ....makes me bit worried, looks like there is download requiered.
if so - i will buy it on xbox one x instead, might be cheaper anyways ...
Insta buy from me , regardless of the price. As mentioned above, criterion have done a great job with their NFS entries and this game scratches just the right nostalgic itch for me.
I'd still really like remasters of Underground and Underground 2. Half the fun of those games was chavving the cars up to the max with neon paint, loads of under-car fluorescent lights and huge spoilers. It was always a competition to see who could make the most tasteless car.
And... it's now on the eShop.
Release date is 13th November 2020.
@scoobdoo This is 2010 Hot Pursuit.
