Update: As a reminder, Abylight Studio's Black Friday sale on Switch ends today! This is your last chance to pick up the games below at their discounted prices.
Original Article: The Black Friday savings are coming in thick and fast now, as Abylight Studios announces another eShop sale.
The company has reduced all of its published games on Switch by 50%; the deals found below are valid across Europe, the US and Japan, and will remain active right up until 2nd December.
Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition ($9,99)
Drifting in a mysterious world to find a cure for a deadly illness... and no, it isn't the plot of 2020! It's the insanely challenging and uniquely atmospheric indie masterpiece by Heart Machine, plus extra content of the Special Edition by Abylight. Enter the dark and detailed world of lost technologies, dangers and echoes of a violent past in this action adventure RPG inspired by the best of the 16-bit classics.
Cursed Castilla EX ($6,99)
Have you met Mouras, Ojáncanos, Nuberus and Malismos? You will in Cursed Castilla! Classic arcade gameplay meets European folklore to which the creatures mentioned belong. In this neo-retro masterpiece by Locomalito and Gryzor87, a demon used tears of a young witch to open a gateway to hell. You play as Don Ramiro, the King's devoted knight, on his adventure to fight and banish the evil invading the lands of Tolomera.
Super Hydorah ($9,99)
In the mood to escape to space? Say no more, and get Super Hydorah, this shoot 'em up from Locomalito and Gryzor87! You'll become the most skilled and dangerous pilot in the universe, tasked with freeing the star of Omios from the invasion of biomechanical critters. Liberate planets, destroy enemy bases and discover the mysterious force behind the invasion. Now, select a route, equip your ship, and let's go!
Qbics Paint ($2,49)
Unleash your inner artist with Qbics Paint, the cute and chill game where you sculpt and paint 3D figurines with your fingers on the Nintendo Switch touchscreen. Pick the Maker mode to create your own Qbics, or have fun with the ones you've unlocked. Need inspiration? There's plenty in Image Mode with a wide range of stock images. In these crazy times when relaxing is key to sanity, Qbics Paint would be an awesome game to enjoy together with the entire family.
We also reported on a similar Black Friday sale this morning from Kemco, which has reduced the prices of a number of its RPGs, and there are plenty of savings to be found on Nintendo products, too.

Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition is a must. To this date, this is the best and most content packed version of the game, alongside the identical iOS version, that came after some time of exclusivity on the Switch.
yessssssssssss, all of these are awesome.
Guess it's time to apply the Kickstarter money they refunded me when the Wii U version of Hyperlight was canceled!
Hyper Light Drifter would be my favourite indie on Switch if it wasn't for Hollow Knight. Anyone who likes 2D Zeldas or action-packed games with a bit of challenge should check it out. That soundtrack is especially amazing.
Didn't enjoy HLD, unfortunately, and the other game don't really appeal to me.
Extremely tangential: why the commas in the prices? Haha...
Is a physical release of Hyper Light Drifter still a thing? I mailed Abylight couple months ago to ask if I should buy the game on sale or wait for a physical edition and they told me to wait, said they would be announcing something soon. Since then, no word...
Maybe I should try HLD
I'd be all over HLD if I hadn't picked up the ios version for 99p which I can play with my SN30pro controller. Super slick.
I bought HLD at launch but I still haven't seen the title screen yet. I'll get to it eventually.
Cursed Castilla I absolutely loved. It's tough but always fair and with checkpoints plentiful, never frustrating. It is, dare I say a much better game than the one it takes inspiration from.
Super Hydorah I came close to buying last week but hung off, hoping it would go on sale. That was a good decision from me. I'll be downloading it this weekend.
I've heard great praise for Hyper Light Drifter but every time I think about buying it, I watch gameplay footage and it just doesn't look interesting at all. What am I missing?
@RowdySunstrider I played HLD to death on Steam lol. Is there enough new stuff to warrant another purchase?
If it weren't for this website recommending Hyper Light Drifter in one of their regular articles (the under £10 recommendations article) back in May, I'd be still yet to play it.
Seriously, HLD should not be passed up. Engaging and challenging gameplay, many secrets to discover, vibrant areas to explore, all topped off with an incredible soundtrack. Indies don't get any better than this.
Hyper Light Drifter is solid.
Had Cursed Castilla on the 3DS but have no desire to revisit it despite being decent.
May download Super Hydoroah....
Only 50%? Was hoping for a deeper discount.
Anyone who likes 2D Zeldas or action-packed games with a bit of challenge should check it out. That soundtrack is especially amazing.
@citizenerased I've played a bit of it, and I'd like to ask a question. I fail to see the Zelda comparison - that franchise features abundant items, secret passages and entrances, and the like. I have seen none of these in the part that I played so far (I went north from the hub). Yes, I've seen very small secret rooms, but they reminded me more of the small side rooms in Final Fantasy IV or VI, haha.
The music, atmosphere, and action are all absolutely correct, though. I just hope the (wordless) story can match the build-up!
@KimBread The Switch version also includes a new area (Tower Climb challenge), an extra boss, as well as an additional outfit and 2 more guns.
@KimBread I would say so =) It's nicely woven in and it's sweet to have more of HLD, so go for it, especially when it's on sale.
I'm glad Nintendo Life reposts these sales as they are about to end. Reminds me to pick up HLD since I had completely forgotten it was on a discount.
I've got Super Hydorah, haven't played yet but looks fun.
I’ll have to check em out. Am I the only one that sees Evangelion unit 02 in that first picture?
@COVIDberry
If you compare it with the first Zelda, as opposed to A Link to the Past or Link's Awakening, I think it's easier to see the resemblance.
From the abandoned world to the open-ended progression, the focus on combat (which the first Zelda goes heavy on), and the often obscure but tantalizing narrative world-building, there's a lot of shared DNA there. It's not an exact copy, but there's certainly an air about it.
HLD is one of my favorite indie games in recent memory. I’m still exploring every bit and cranny of this masterpiece all these years later and enjoying every second of it.
@Beaucine I really appreciate your reply. I played it for a few minutes this week and in doing so, my thought continued to be... this leaves me wanting more. Not because what is there displeases me, but because it I know how a concept (and execution!) like this could evolve, given sequels. I think you've nailed it for me. Thanks!
