But can we play as zelda in it?
Gods & Monsters is definitely a better name, but okay
So there's 4 months until the end of the year and you expect me to believe that in 4 months they'll go from no promotional material (trailer, gameplay footage, screenshots, etc) to a full functioning release.
Yeah ok.
Wouldn't God's & Monsters be next gen?
I prefer the original, but it's alright. I just want to see more about the game!
@RazumikhinPG say that to Nintendo XD
@the_beaver this is not a Nintendo exclusive game.
@RazumikhinPG We've already had a trailer. That's more than you can say for most Nintendo games right now.
@sanderev the "trailer" was a actually a teaser and didn't show any gameplay. And Nintendo isn't releasing any new games within 4 months. Pikmin 3 Deluxe is releasing soon, but that's a port.
Not sure what you're talking about.
@RazumikhinPG I know... But I'm just saying Nintendo do the same, and they better do that this year, if they don't wnat us to kill them! XD. That's what I meant.
@RazumikhinPG well there are leaked gameplay videos online for this game.
Been waiting for more on yhis, wanna see gameplay as it looks up my street.
New name sucks, the original is far better in my opinion.
Just hope it’s a good game
@Vepra leaked, super old and very incomplete. For all we know the game doesn't even look like that anymore.
There is something so naff spelling words incorrectly for the sake of a name. Fenyx / Phoenix lol. Mind you...that's pretty much what the whole game is doing with BotW! Hahaha.
@RazumikhinPG yup, but we atleast get an idea of how far the developement has gone. I belive its unlikely to have it released this year but it could also be possible that it will be ubisofts holiday release.
@GrailUK could possibly be a different language? For example in the Czech Language Phoenix is spelled Fénix
My initial impression is that the original title was better. But I'm open to being convinced with future trailers & gameplay footage.
I already figured that they would come up with a worse name than the original, so I'm not really surprised. Too bad, because Gods and Monsters was SO much better. And it also perfectly illustrated what the game is about.
@GrailUK Ah, so glad I wasn't the only one who was bothered by that, but I didn't want to let out the inner grammar nazi just yet, so thanks for biting that bullet... 😉
@Vepra Now you are just making excuses for them.
Reminded me of the cancelled Kid Icarus game.
@Vepra good point. It could be a regional language thing. That happens, can and result in alternate titles.
Not so bad, but i liked the first better.
Sounds like terrible YA series of books. Hopefully it's just regional.
@RazumikhinPG What about new Paper Mario game? It was released just a month after the announcement and it can be considered a big Nintendo game, with Mario in the title.
I believe there are plenty other examples of Nintendo dropping new big game without much promotional materials beforehand, so sure - Ubisoft could probably manage that as well
Seems odd to change a title, if it is to be released late 2020, just months prior to its release; esp. if that title is not already on copyright; but...hey at this point...it is 2020, LOL
@mateq Origami King was announced on May 14 and released July 17. That's 2 months. Sure, it was unexpected, not sure why Nintendo kept quiet about it for so long.
But we're talking about an old IP, not a new one like Gods and Monsters. We really know nothing about the game, even tho it has been hyped as hell by the internet just because of really small fragments of (what could be called) concept art.
A new entry on a Mario spin-off doesn't really need a ton of marketing, because people sort of already know what to expect.
I suppose Ubisoft wants to ride on that self-generated hype, but that's not normally how things are done. Let's remember how long we've had to wait for recent releases like Last of Us 2, FF7 Remake, Death Stranding or Cyberpunk 2077 (this one not even released yet) and we definitely had a ton of game play released quite a long time prior.
@RazumikhinPG the switch went from rumor to in my hands in barely 2 months. That kind of stuff is how Nintendo has approached this gen.
@Donutman the Nintendo Switch was first announced in March 17, 2015 and officially unveiled in October 20, 2016 and released in March 3, 2017. That's 4 months and a few weeks between the first trailer came out and the console was released.
Not sure what you're going on about.
@GrailUK Fun fact about the BotW Shrines - the names are all anagrams of the specific developer who designed them. Who do think did the Magnesis Trial Shrine? 😉
On topic, I prefer the new name to Gods & Monsters. Gods & Monsters sounds so generic, like a mobile game title. The new name gives some wiggle room for the inevitable Ubisoft sequels.
Why was the name changed again? I must have missed something.
the rise of hercules. or the rising of icarus. Kid icarus the game. Kid icarus and the monsters of mythology. idk, im not a fan of the name change.
@RazumikhinPG On case with Nintendo Switch release - isn't that exactly the same situation as with this game right now?
Announced a year ago at E3, first trailer and promotional material would appear now and 4 months before the year end to release the game. Sounds like your description of how Switch was released.
But hey, it doesn't really matter. I guess my point is that there is a chance the game will be released this year, hence my arguments. But in general I agree with you that most probably it will be postponed to Q1 2021. Not that I really care about this game in the first place, just bored at work
I'm still interested in this game, though we haven't heard much about it lately. Can't say I'm fond of the new name though. Especially that funky spelling of "Fenyx". XD I feel like they're trying too hard.
I’m REALLY looking forward to this game (optimistically hopefull). Need another open world action-adventure game to scratch my itch on Switch until BotW2 releases.
On the name change, it’s whatever. Wasn’t like Gods & Monsters wasn’t pretty generic sounding itself. I’d assume Fenyx is the name of the main character, hence the spelling stylization.
@mateq except that actually there isn't yet any (updated) trailer or promotional material that show us what the game looks like and there's less than 4 months to go for the holiday season. Games tend to release late November early December, to be available for gift buyers. Normally. So that's less than 4 months.
Not sure any games are released between Christmas and New Year, but who knows.
@GrailUK Not trying to make an excuse, just trying to make sense of it
Very likely that is a regional name because of laws some countries can't use God in the title. So usually when that happens they use something from the story. If anything this is giving us some of the plot in the name.
@Jokerwolf Interesting. I hope you are right because "Immortals: Fenyx Rising" is terrible imho.
Oh god please. This would make my day If comes out soon on Switch.
They can call it whatever they want. Just give us a real launch date on Switch.
The other one was better.
@Vepra I'm only being tongue in cheek
Was there a trademark violation that made them change the name, because the new name is significantly worse than gods and monsters.
“Fenyx”?! So lame.
I have no hope for this game. Too many delays and no details shared is not a good sign.
This game is NOT coming out in 2020. Some people really need to start tempering their expectations.
That sounds like the name for a mobile game...
Hope it will be a good game. They will probably reveil it at the next ubisoft forward
Several games that had previews that piqued my interest this year have received disappointing reviews, so I just hope that this game turns out well.
Still interested in this game. As far as the upcoming "BotW clones", I'm more interested in this than Genshin Impact, which seems to be plagued with microtransaction nonsense.
Even if this game turns out to be just "ok" at least Ubisoft games, even those on Switch go down in price pretty quickly.
A lame that belongs of some trash that ubisoft would have made in the early 2000s, not some trash that ubisoft made in 2020.
Looking forward to the sequels, Immortals: Fahraw’s Pieramyd, and Immortals: Awlimpoos Sinking.
This talk of ‘BOTW clones’ is bizarre. Any open world game that doesn’t have a realistic art style is now a ‘BOTW clone’. Just accept the game for what it is, it’s not as if BOTW is the most original game in the world either, just different for a Zelda game.
@nessisonett right? You might as well call every shooter a Doom or Wolfenstein clone, or Mario and rabbids: kingdom battle an xcom clone. Stamina wheels for climbing and/or swimming is a revolutionary game mechanic cause botw did it so well. Of course developers should use it or something like it, especially if it is exploring oriented.
On topic, I'm cool with this, I'll check it out at the event. As I said in another article, if this and far cry 6 are shown, I'll be happy. and my prayers have been answered, that's a first.
Taiwan pegged it again, just like with the Bioshock listing.
It seems we did it again, congrats my beloved country who can't spell (Fenyx, Vampyr, you name "yt"). Also that name would still be bad even if spelled correctly.
@nessisonett I personally see this game as a Gods & Monsters rip-off I suppose the comparison to BOTW is because people are dying to get their hands on the sequel, I know I am. But comparing every single game to an existing one makes no sense indeed. That being said, I wouldn't mind an assassin's creed clone without the VR/real world thing, even if it looks like BOTW
God awful name. Horrible change.
Also, Ubisoft loves to milk their franchises to death... so if this isn’t multiplayer I’ll wait a year till #2 comes out and then I’ll get this for $20.
I loved Assassin's Creed Odyssey so I'm quite excited to see what they did with this one.
...awful name by the way. The first one was way better.
I sure hope this is 2020 holiday release for the switch
@jimtendog Yeah. The name is clunky. It would have been better to call it just “Immortals” or just “Fenix Rising”. Or even “Immortals Rising”
That's a awful name.
Nice, just 8 days to go!
This name change is terrible, I get they probably couldn’t have used gods in some places (makes me wonder what god of war is called in those places though)...... Anything would have been better, I’d already seen the name change but assumed it was for a different game.
Gods and Monsters is much better.
I know it's a very small thing, too small dots in fact, but I was ok w/
Immortals: Fenyx Rising
but not
Immortals Fenyx Rising
The first 1 I pronounced in my head: IMMORTALS!, Fenxy Rising
but now it's just: immortals fenyx rising and I have no idea where to put the emphasis.
Over on PS it's going to be H:ZD vs HZD all over again. 😂
@rjejr
I suppose the official title art will give us a hint, once its revealed. ^^
@Pod You would think, but the new Horizon Forbidden West game has a Roman Numeral 2, II, right smack dab in the middle of it, but the game is only going by Horizon Forbidden West, no 2.🤷
Not great, but not terrible. Except for the original name was actually good.
@rjejr
Maybe that's just part of the "logo stylization" ^_^;;
Just like how the game isn't officially HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST in all caps. ^^
Yah know what? Just 'Immortals'. I hate stupidly placed subtitles, and this one outweighs the title on the logo, not even putting a colon. Guess the name is as good as Triforce Link Rescuing, Pokemon Trainer Winning, and Demons Doomslayer Killing.
