Update (Sun 19th Apr, 2020 08:30 BST): The listing for Burnout Paradise Remastered on the US Switch eShop has now been changed to TBD. EA's Polish website still has it down for a June 2020 release. The game will also require 3.9 GB of free space, according to the eShop.
Original story (Fri 17th Apr, 2020 03:05 BST): Last week, it was discovered Burnout Paradise Remastered for the Nintendo Switch could potentially be arriving this June – with pre-orders supposedly opening on the 23rd of April.
Now, the 'Coming Soon' section of the Switch eShop page in North America has listed a specific release date. If it's correct, the open-world racing game originally developed by Criterion should be out by 19th June. Keep in mind, EA hasn't officially shared this information yet, so there are no guarantees.
When the game was revealed during Nintendo's recent Mini Direct presentation, the most EA promised was a 2020 release.
Whenever it does arrive on Switch, it'll be packed with eight pieces of DLC, more than 130 vehicles to write-off, additional areas to explore and "hundreds" of online challenges. It's also targeting a smooth 60fps and includes "pinch-and-pull map control" for ease of navigation. The asking price is $49.99.
If the game does end up releasing in June, will you be buying it? Let us know with a comment below.

"asking price is $49.99"
...aaaaaaaand you lost a Day 1 buy right then and there, EA. Good for you. 👍
This would be a welcomed addition to the library. EA has a bunch of nice classics that would be cool to add.
$64.99 Canadian at launch is too steep. I'll be waiting for Dangerous Driving 2 instead. I'd be willing to spend $35 on Paradise, that's about it.
Want to hear a joke, sure, 49.99, hahahahah, that's a pretty good joke.
I bought this game for like $30 back in 2008. It’s a wonderful game - it’s one of my favorite racing games ever. But I bought it for $30 literally 12 years ago.
It shouldn’t be $50.
(Also, this very same Remastered version is frequently on sale for $8 on PS4. If you want it, get it there!)
For fifty bucks, I think I'll pass for now. I already got it on PS3, Xbox One, and PC.
...
Good God, I got way too many ports of this! I might even have the Xbox 360 version!
Now I understand what it feels like to be the one guy cheering while everyone else roars about the price.
@Alpha-2002 EXACTLY! This is the only reason I'm not picking this up right away. Waiting for a pretty big price drop to something like $20 - $30 which was the launch price of the original remastered edition
I would be all over this for, like, $20, but $50 is a joke.
Wow. Way to raise the price to almost double. Yeah, eff off EA.
If it's a good port, runs great, and had a physical release then I don't care if it's $50, I'm hunger for a good arcade racer like this for a long time.
I’ll drop the koopa coins on this for a portable version of it. I’ve wanted it for too long now.
It’s the worst Burnout by a mile (or kilometre, if you prefer). It does look pretty, but it lost the fun of the previous entries. A racing game just doesn’t work as a free-roaming game, in my opinion. Save your cash, buy a PS2 and Burnout 2, and you’ll have a blast!
Crazy price, still a day 1 purchase for me as I am a huge Burnout fan. I still have my PS2 hooked up to my main TV mainly for the burnout games(and the need for speeds)
While this very same game sold on PSN for $4.99, way to go EA!
@retro_player_77 But... I don't think it's getting one. If it was, we would've heard about it by now.
Ah well - here's hoping Crytek are a lot kinder than their former minder when it come down to price.
@Bondi_Surfer i fully disagree. Free roaming racing games are amazing! I've been waiting for one to release on the switch and got so excited by this announced. And then i heard about the price... ill wait for a sale.
@Cissero If you like free-roam racing, then there’s probably none better than this. But it ain’t my bag - it requires too much time (which is in short supply in my day-to-day life) for me to learn the map, and hence enjoy. But I hope you love it!
49.99 and no physical version, right?
GG EA.
@Bondi_Surfer thanks for the kind reply i'm curious to try it out! Loved NFS underground 2 back in the day, and hope this matches that experience a bit.
For non free roaming racing games Grid autosport is a true gem. Only con is that you simply cant drive with assists off without a steering wheel or something, so at some point the game got too easy for me.
Maybe ill have to play around with custom settings haha
I love this game but that price is waaaay too high if accurate.
I don"t have a problem with switch tax but if you released this game for 40 on the ps4 and xbox one 2 years ago. And now you are asking 50 for the same game something is wrong with your company. 40 would have been normal in my opinion but 50 is just too much.
Absofruitly will buy it
Price is a complete joke. I understand switch tax etc and fully accept it but this game is cheap as chips on the other consoles. Its not switch tax, its taking full advantage of switch owners and portable play. It wasnt even this much when it realed on ps4 and xbone.
EDIT- Just seen @troy258 comment pretty much exactly the same thing
Is it like need for speed most wanted? I kinda enjoyed that but think I preferred burnout 2.
@Bondi_Surfer that’s what I was wondering. I didn’t realise this was open
The game coming to Switch is fantastic and it’s good that it seems to be releasing so soon when it just said 2020 in the Direct Mini, but the price tag is disgusting, especially when the remaster is permanently reduced to a price of £20 on PS4/Xbox One which is perfect. I think £30 or £35 would’ve been right for this game, but you know EA there’s always a catch with their Switch support, whether it’s disgusting, overpriced last-gen reskins of FIFA with no effort placed, or complaining about Switch owners every other Wednesday, I feel like there’s no reasoning with these guys. Let’s hope Crysis Remastered is great with Saber Interactive helping out.
EA realises better than most posters here how well games on sale sell on Switch. Some people will pick it up full price, and most people (like me) will pick it up when it drops 50%-75%. Let's face it, 50% off is about the normal price for this. So basically, the higher the price is while still on sale, the more they earn. That's how you get to a base price of $50.
Nice, another platinum trophy coming up... Oh wait, wrong platform, Nintendo doesn't do achievements because they'd need to invest in a server, and they wouldn't be able to make any money from that. Xbox has had achievements since 2005, Steam since 2007, PlayStation since 2008, Apple since 2011, ...
Before anyone asks, achievement hunting is silly, but many (most?) Nintendo games already include some type of internal achievements, and being able to share and compare them with other players is always nice.
And June 21 falls on Sunday this year, so I might just be equipped for a day one purchase (no date typo, it makes sense in context). If not, it'll be one of the early July plans for sure.
And seriously, NL, it's no secret that eShop listings are subject to their own changes, but them being "no guarantees" just because EA hasn't duplicated the announcement elsewhere in the west? You guys seem to put more faith in your quasimythical "reliable sources" at times.😅
@Alpha-2002 it's 64.99 here in canada. they also lost a customer. because it's 19.99 physical on both ps4 and xbox.
they're asking 64.99 in canada! what a rip-off!with taxes that's literally 75$! for a game that's 20 bucks physical on ps4.
yeah ea, no thanks.
@cptspaulding to my knowledge when the ps4 version launched it was 54.99 so they're a 10$ increase just because it's a nintendo platform.
Burnout legends on the PSP was the last one I played. How does this compare to that?
Maybe on sale, that price seems high. Have it on 360 and the remastered is about £5-£10 regularly.
£20-£25 and I'd probably be swayed.
@Alpha-2002 This game was on sale on Xbox last week for $5.
Saw this yesterday as the game was added to my wish list. I love BURNOUT. June 19th is my birthday. I should be happy. But EA price gouging me for $50? I will either wait for DANGEROUS DRIVING 2 or a sale.
@Bondi_Surfer
Heck, BURNOUT 1!!!!
"The asking price is $49.99."
Not a chance in hell am I paying that.
Then the game will bomb on Switch and the EA execs will be like: "Well, we tried and they don't want our stuff."
And we'll never see them again.
The price is a deal killer. I was expecting $29.99. It would be different if it was a small publisher that I wanted to support so they could do more on Switch. But EA hasn't even sent Madden over to Switch yet. And they update the roster on FIFA and try to charge full price. EA is crude. When this drops to $19, I will give it a go.
Will it be coming out on physical retail release or it'll be digital only?
I get that porting a game takes time, money, and resources, and that getting it to run smoothly on Switch is challenging, but $50 still seems too high for an old game.
Looking forward to picking this up. While the price might not seem fair to everyone I am more than happy to pay it, after all, what is an extra £20 to play a game I want to play on the console I want to play it?? There was the same over reaction with the Residemt Evil games and I still see them selling well so it seems the majority outside of this site would agree.
$50 is a joke. I love this game, but there is no way I'll get this.
I want to get this game because I love some goofy arcade racing action but no way will I pay 50 bucks, this game should be 30 at the very most, I won't succumb to the Switch "tax".
@citizenerased exactly what you said.
Just isn't fun to have to wait 6 months or so to pick this up when the price is fair. I have the money and am happy to spend it in games, but I refuse to do it for this because the last thing I want is to reward EA for their shenanigans.
EA is a liar and cannot be trusted.
They are funnelling the money made from this into Anthem no doubt. This should honestly release at £30 then be in the Autumn sale around October time. £50 just seems really "we'll go ahead and shoot ourselves in the foot" mentality.
So Amazon.co.uk currently have it listed for £45, the listing below is the download code for the XBoxOne version ... £4.99! SwitchTax really is a killer.
$65 CAD for a 2 year old port that should've been released alongside the other versions in 2018 is really f-ing insulting. EA can't blame gamers when it doesn't sell, even though they will.
If the game ever gets down to 6.23 CAD, then I might consider purchasing it again. Even then, that's pretty iffy. It's a great game, but I still think NSF: Most Wanted is better.
Nintendo Everything is fake.
Then again, everything on the internet is fake, including Wikipedia
@EVIL-C Given EA's track record whoever they blame means nothing, they know what they did and putting the blame on gamers is more of an accomplishment then anything. I could care less about supporting EA and if they abandon the switch the better the system will be. Paying full price for a 12 year old game with a few graphical options is an insult, it should be 29.99, however EA only cares about $.
Their are way better companies to support out there. If you have patients and want to support the original developers, look for dangerous driving 2 - by ThreeFieldsEntertainment..
ive already preordered when i first saw the option in Amazon lel. I just hope that all of the DLC is in it (unlike a certain game that is having that issue rn...cough cough) but im definitely looking forward to playing my childhood game again
Lmao $50....the PS3 original is $10 and the remastered PS4 one is $20
Wait... 130 vehicles?!
I’m 100% buying. This might scratch my San Francisco Rush itch after all!
EDIT: ooohhh... oh no... yeah that price is steep. Eek. I’m not saying I’m not going to buy it; I’m going to buy it, yes... but that is quite steep. It’s going to be a drunk purchase now, not Day 1, for me.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Simply boring.
Who actually didn't see this coming?
Did anyone actually think EA were going to deliver?
Wait until it's released. Bet money it'll be a mess.
AND it'll serve as an excuse for EA not to support Nintendo. It's basically like FIFA 18 and 19 they put on here.
Just there so they can tell their investors "look we tried, they don't want it".
I hope this will be the last game EA ever make on a Nintendo system because this won't sell a biscuit. Hopefully they drop support completely and we can be done with their dribble on the Switch.
INSERT ANGRY PRICE RELATED COMMENT GRHHHHH, THEY'RE FORCING ME TO BUY IT, I WON'T BUY IT!!!!
I will buy it day 1 ....of the Sales
I don't understand the logic of people saying "This is discounted on PS4!! LOLZ". Sure, that's because it was released 2 YEARS AGO on that platform. Games that are 2 years old are often discounted. They'll have long-since recovered their development costs, any sales now are a bonus. This is new to Switch, meaning it has just been significantly rewritten for this platform. If you want companies to take time and spend money creating great ports for Switch, don't complain that they're priced as new games.
@marnelljm Yes, you're right, they should definitely price-match this new release to the PS3 original.
@Razer I want EA games. I was Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age and NHL on the go.
TOO EXPENSIVE!
Ahhhh!! That sucks I was looking forward to this too!!
I will NOT buy this a carrot to receive more games from EA. $30 TOPS for me, and that is physical version.
@Bondi_Surfer I agree the open world definitely makes this the worst of the Burnouts. Lots of people seem to love it and it’s the most recent so I guess that why it’s the one that always gets ported instead of the older games.
I remember when it first came out you couldn’t even restart a race. If you lost you’d have to drive all the way across the map to the start point to try again. Even when they fixed that, I remember driving all the way across the map to a race only to find when I got there that the race mandated a different car. It wouldn’t let you swap the car automatically, you’d have to drive all the way back to the garage and then back to the race again. Give me a menu screen any day!
@thiswaynow Don't be a smart @ss. $50 for a 11 year old game is just nonsense. $30 would have been the sweet spot.
49,99 for a 10+ year game....
And by the size of it (3.9gb) seems more like the ps3 original version and not the remastered one...
That by the way i bought it for 5 euro from origin sales just the other day...
EA is bungling the price on this game. I guess they figure if people really want EA games on Switch, they'll pay asinine prices.
@BulkSlash Need for Speed Most Wanted on Wii U was open world too. I never could get right into that. You spend far too much time messing about, instead of racing. My memories of that is what's putting me off Burnout Paridise, especially since it's made by the same folk.
I wouldn’t support this release at full price, it’s a good if not great game, but you can get this on sale on any other platform for less than 10 dollars.
I just got this for £4.99 on the Xbox One Spring Sale.....
@thiswaynow the game was 10$ less on ps4 and xb1 when it lauched. who cares if it was rewritten, it's certainly not worth the price increase, not for a game that's so old as this.
Of course its been changed to TBD. EA have just realised they have given switch users too much content and need the extra time to remove some and water it down for us.
Well, as long as people will continue to pay a stupidly high premium to play old games on Switch, aberrations like this will continue to happen. I mean, $65 (CDN) for a game I bought for $5 on my Xbox One... over a year ago.... Also, regular price, when not on sale, on every other system is like $25. WTF EA?
I was overjoyed when I heard this was coming to the Switch. But at this price, it's not just ridiculously overpriced, it is a downright insult.
So, so, so sick of this crazy trend to overcharge throught the roof for Switch games for absolutely no reason. I mean, charging a bit more for a new port of a game that was released on almost every system under the sun already is ok. But this is not "charging a bit more". This charging $10 for a single roll of toilet paper.
But then... this is the Switch... and this is EA. Silly of me to have expected a decent price.
@KingBowser are you drunk? I hope so.
Second thought: I didn't get the irony. But if, it's well hidden especially in these times of morons following Trump and Boris-he-is-our-now-johnson. Maybe you could explain?
EA is the worst... they have no shame seriously. I will give them my money for Mass Effect Trilogy and Dead space trilogy on the switch if it is physical and one cartridge per collection without big downloads. I think it is safe to assume EA will never see my money again 😂 (last game I bought from them was ME3). Stop being a statistical number people, boycott !
@Wilforce I will buy it too - sure the price is high but I have waited way too long for that game.
@Dman10 I want them too. But personally I would prefer if the company who has them are forced to go bust and sell off their IP to people who know what they're doing.
EA is a cancer on the video game industry as a whole.
Their "surprise mechanics" (loot boxes)
The graveyard of good developers they have left in their wake.
Their pandering to the SJW movement.
Their treatment of employees.
They're a company that should be dragged down and stepped on by the people who made them (customers).
