Last month, we found out Netflix's new anime, Dragon's Dogma, based on Capcom's action RPG of the same name would premiere on 17th September.
Now, in the latest update, Netflix has released its first official trailer and another brief outline of the story:
After losing his home to a dragon, Ethan sets out to hunt it down once and for all. A pawn appears by his side and serves to protect his life. But the dangers that lie in wait for Ethan are beyond their imaginations, for when you fight a monster... you just may become one too.
As previously noted, this anime is created by Sublimation, in partnership with Anima and David Production. To see some direct screens from this upcoming show, check out our previous post.
So, what do you think? Will you be watching this when it debuts on Netflix next month? Tell us down below.

Huh, that's kinda cool, this is almost certainly another Castlevania Anime, but it can still be great.
Ye like dragons, ye like dogma, ye’ll love Dragon’s Dogma!
So Netflix's job is to make adaptations of awesome games that the publisher no longer cares about? Well, at least its something for the fans of these series.
@Chowdaire
Maybe Netflix can tell which franchises need a little love and exposure for the chance at a revival! If only they would make a Megaman Legends show next...
Not a fan of the art style of the characters or the monsters. Netflix really cheaped out on the animation budget for this one.
Not a fan of the art style in this one, it just feels... wrong. I understand the budget is low, but the characters look lifeless, have weird movements and the monsters aren't that convincing.
Might give it a chance, though.
Is the second episode 50 minutes of Ethan walking to the next location while occasionally being attacked by packs of wolves?
(Touch harsh maybe, I'm about 20 hours into the game and enjoying it so far, even the escort side quests.)
I really don't like that generation of 3D CGI trying to imitate traditional anime. It still looks way better than ingress though
The character in the thumbnail looks like Vincent from Catherine lol
I really think this odd CGI style Netflix demands its anime series utilize is off putting I'd even say in this case its well ugly especially how robotic some of the animation is e.g. the scene of them in the forest. If there isn't a really good story here I'll pass.
@Ulysses I wouldn't mind a Megaman Legends series if they went with a halfway decent style.
@Ulysses OMG. I would murder infants for a Mega Man Legends revival... INFANTS!
Not enough "Strike the tail!"
If only they had used hand drawn animation this could be as good as Castlevania. That’s too bad. Might still give it a try anyway. I agree, I don’t like some of the monster designs.
The trailer got me hyped. Can't wait to watch it next month.
I'm not sure of the mixture of 2D and 3D animation, it kind of grates on me, make up you mind which one you want to do.
But still I'll probably watch it anyway.
Im hyped. Loved the game
I am definitely watching this. I really love the game and hope the anime does well. That way Capcom will get off their lazy butt and make a second game.
@Bunkerneath yeah, I thought so too. 3D and 2D can mix really well. However, this looks really bad. I won't be watching this.
I don't know about this. The dragon doesn't look very good to me. I hope others enjoy this, though!
(Spoiler) I wonder if they gonna include the part where the player becomes god but kills himself
I've never played the games, but that trailer was pretty exciting.
@Specters Same goes for Castlevania. I would rather they make a live action, but yeah I know this is asking too much. so how about make it 3D like Saint Seiya...
Well, the animation looks better than the Castlevania one. I could not bear that one.
Huh, look at that.
Netflix still pouring a lot of money into 3D-animated anime productions.
Beastars came out pretty okay visually, so to me, they've just about proven the baseline viability of the approach. In that it's probably a lot cheaper, and doesn't completely ruin the end product anymore.
The Dragon sounds wrong. His voice in the game was iconic, unmistakable and unique. This just sounds gruff. I am sad
Their kind hates fire and ice both!
Does it have wolves hunting in packs?
And someone mentioning this at least once every episode?
Otherwise it's not true to the core material..
it looks meh to be honest
Sorry, I'm just going to pretend this was a Monster Hunter anime instead.
No, NOT THAT ONE!
