Re: Five Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot Favourites

Banjo & Kazooie — "Words are cheap." Sure, but I doubt Microsoft would be demanding big licensing fees for the character. It's Smash, so Nintendo's not going to do Banjo an injustice AND most companies don't charge people to advertise for them. Of course he wants the duo in. That decision rides on Nintendo, though, not Microsoft.

Waluigi — He already has an assist trophy. Yes, he should have been a fighter with a moveset representing the spinoffs he occupies (sports, party and karting paraphernalia), but it would be too confusing to be mid fight with Waluigi, grab an assist trophy and suddenly there's another Waluigi running around.

@Sakura Levels are built as you play instead of painstakingly (or creatively) designed beforehand. It's not a shortcut, since it's very complicated to make a good system. When you hear the term "procedural design," think Minecraft. The world always has the same elements, but the landscape is different every time you restart it. That means a level designer hasn't created an area you can explore with truly unique elements and gimmicks, but it also tends to mean more replay value since you're not seeing the same things and facing the exact same challenges every time.

Re: FAST Racing NEO's F-Zero-Like Hero Mode is For The "Hardcore Science-Fiction Racing Fans"

bro2dragons

With the quality of this and Shin'en's past work, with the developer's Nintendo exclusivity, and with how much Nintendo is promoting this thing, I can't understand why Nintendo hasn't just given them the license to make this an F-Zero game. They wouldn't lose any money on it or have to waste time making an F-Zero "no one wants" because they can't think of anything "new for the series."

Everybody wins.

Re: Five Must-Play Wii U Games - Part Two

The name's Yoshi, Alex. With a long O. He says it himself all the time in his games. It's like mispronouncing Pikachu as Pickachu, Bulbasaur as Boolbasaur, or Alex from NintendoLife as Awlex from NinteendoLife. Any of those pronunciations would be stupid because the names are clearly pronounced for us OVER AND OVER by the subject itself.

Re: Review: Star Sky (Wii U eShop)

When you saythe game is "perfect" for some people, I think you'll have a hard time justifying a below average score.

Still, thanks for this. The review convinced me to give this a solid go and I can't wait to see what it's all about.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Is Getting A Massive Update On July 31st

bro2dragons

I'm cool with continuing to add more Mii costumes, but I really wish 1) they'd add more regular clothing options not specific to this or that character, and 2) they'd add some more Mii attacks. There are too few options to really make the created fighters interesting for this long. I need more possibilities in order to keep buying the costumes and playing with new Mii Fighters.

But whatever. We all know I'll still purchase everything shown here and I'm pumped about more new stages.

Re: Don't Worry, Samus Will Be In Metroid Prime: Federation Force

I got all excited for a second thinking we were actually getting more news about this, but as others have said, this is old information. I'm pretty sure it's even been posted here before.

That said I'm still stoked for this game. E3 put this game at my number three most anticipated Nintendo game with only Star Fox Zero and Fire Emblem Fates above it and bumping Xenoblade Chronicles X and The Legend of Zelda down to fifth and sixth. Good days ahead of us, folks.

Re: Negative Reception For Devil's Third Is Due To Poor Player Skill, Claims Tomonobu Itagaki

bro2dragons

I'm not saying Itagaki is right here, either, but this article certainly doesn't read like it's written by a journalist, something the writer wants very much for us to know he is, and something which he asserts makes him a great gamer.

I don't care how much gaming you've done in your life. Time does not equal skill. I spent nearly 1,000 hours playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl, several hundred in Project M and have put almost 500 in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (hindered only by obligations to my work and wife) already, in addition to who knows how many hours building that foundation in Melee and the original. And you know what? I'm still a decidedly AVERAGE Super Smash Bros. player. More than that, I've spent thousands upon thousands of hours gaming in nearly every genre known to man. In fact, I believe the only genre I've never played is a MOBA because I've never owned a computer good enough to. But despite this deep and wide experience with games over a continuous 20 years, all in all, I'm still a pretty poor gamer. I seriously struggle with Mega Man games, I've never beaten Super Mario Bros. 3, and I find Dark Souls predominantly unenjoyable. Time does not equal skill.

Your hurt feelings have no place in a news article, and neither does your embarrassingly flimsy defense. "Journalists." Heh. You were once. Get it together, NintendoLife.

And mocking his English in the tagline? That's not even poor form for journalists, that's shameful for people.

Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Explains Why the Pro Controller Trumps the GamePad in Devil's Third

bro2dragons

If you're supposed to play for a long time, why would you use a Pro Controller over the Gamepad? That makes no sense. With as light as the Gamepad is, there's no way it could ever get heavy, and playing on a Pro Controller for more than about two hours will cause pretty uncomfortable hand cramps from holding your arms in such an unnatural position.

What a strange thing to say.

Re: Poll: Does Nintendo's Drive Towards Multiplayer Gaming Appeal to You?

bro2dragons

I only wish they'd keep the multiplayer-focused games on Wii U, instead of 3DS. Handhelds are so ill-suited for real multiplayer gameplay, so while I'm interested in Triforce Heroes and SUPER EXCITED for Metroid Prime: Federation Force, the latter, especially should really be on the home console, instead, where I can actually play the game with a team of my friends.
