Has anyone noticed that's a King R Kool Mii costume? I'm guessing they're not going to pull a link and NOT include him as a new fighter this generation!!

I've not played this for a few months but I'll certainly be checking out the tournament mode.Just finished Yoshi's WW this morning and started Dues Ex the other day so together with Smash,Splatoon and MK8 I've got plenty to keep me busy until SMM arrives.

I think the DLC is a bit pricey in Smash. I still haven't gotten the last batch with Ryu and stuff.

What the- I don't get upset easily, but this really ruffles my feathers. I was really hoping he would be added, and voted for him, but now that vote obviously went to waste. I guess I'll have to vote for someone else now...

@Garushi The tourney mode is from, which is a WiiU exclusive feature. Thats what they are referring to.

Does anyone know if Nintendo will finally allow you to upload replay clips that were not compatible with the last few updates? I was very upset about that...

I love everything here...except I am disappointed that K Rool may only be a costume now. I wonder what we will get from the ballot if that's the case. I just hope it's not a particular anime looking guy that I've heard alot vote for. Not my thing personally.

@mystman12 I can almost guarantee you that the only reason this costume is being added is because of the ballot. No way in a million years would they have even considered him otherwise. But yeah, I'm disappointed as well. I voted for him too.

Honestly; having played Smash Bros Wii U a few times now, I still don't get how anyone could play that game seriously competitively. I just don't see the fine control there at all. Still, that's not to undermine how well put together it is as a whole. There's a lot to appreciate and respect, so much cool content, but it's still just a bit of a clumsy and imprecise button basher to me.

The entitlement of Nintendo fans is still very real.

Can't ever be happy about anything they ever add to Smash or anything ever given. Whenever that gap between their whiny, selfish "gimmie gimmie gimmmie" expectations and the reality of those expectations not matching up with their narrow-minded, entitled feeling of being owed everything, instead of ever appreciating it, that gap can't ever gotten over by building any kind of bridge to get over the river they cry without some kind of whiny justification of "IT WASN'T WHAT IIII WANT.", like every 8-year old throwing a tantrum on Christmas morning with all these other presents around them.

It continues to be gross and sickening. Every single bit of content that happens to not fullfill the selfish pandering of each and every person has to be viewed as "a slap in the face" or held up as some kind of disgusting crybaby bullcrap about how "Nintendo doesn't love me", and "They're trying to hurt us.", without any sense of self-examination or concept of the irony of how this sounds.

Gamers always tend to not ever be able to build a bridge to get over the river of their own tears, and just jumps in on purpose to drown in it, seeing themselves as some kind of martyr of first-world problems, but with Nintendo fans, it seems to be always about 3 times worse, every time.

Everything has to be a slap in the face to you. Everything has to be some kind of paranoid plot against you and your hopes and dreams. Everything has to be seen by you as some kind of personal attack against you by Sakurai or some other name that you hold up as an effigy to burn or publicly insult just becuase what you want specifically isn't handed to you on a golden platter, no matter whatever else you're given. It's never enough. Nintendo fans are not just some of the biggest spoiled brats in all of eternity, but the most self-rightous about it, too.

OH NO SAKURAI EXPLAINS A LEGITIMATE REASON WHY RIDLEY WAS NOT IN SMASH. NINTENDO ARE BAD AND SAKURAI IS TRYING TO HURT ME, THEY ARE SLAPPING ME IN THE FACE I MUST CRY NOW WHILE I ENJOY EVERYTHING ELSE I WAS GIVEN AND IGNORE ALL OF IT.

I am kinda glad the King didnt make it. To me he just doesnt look like smash, hes so, I dont know, like he looks more play stationy to me. I know who he is an where he comes from, but yeah, just doesnt look like something in smash. Of course neither does Ryu or that matter, but I didnt make the game, I just feed of it and give away all my money for all the DLC lol

I'm cool with continuing to add more Mii costumes, but I really wish 1) they'd add more regular clothing options not specific to this or that character, and 2) they'd add some more Mii attacks. There are too few options to really make the created fighters interesting for this long. I need more possibilities in order to keep buying the costumes and playing with new Mii Fighters.

But whatever. We all know I'll still purchase everything shown here and I'm pumped about more new stages.

A Chrom costume? Oh Sakurai you master troll! I am really mixed on the costume. Part of me wants to get it because I adore Fire Emblem: Awakening. On the other hand, I do not know. K. Rool as a Mii Fighter costume worries me a little, but it is not a guarantee that he won't get in.

I just think it's cool K. Rool is in as a costume. Sure, it's no new fighter, but let's face it, guys: K. Rool isn't exactly thr greatest video game character.

@icedude545 I think that makes sense but that we're too early on in the ballot for it to work out in King K. Rool fans' favour. There's still 2-3 months left so this strategy could infact lead to King K. Rool being much further away from the top voted which may or may not be what Sakurai is hoping for.

@PikaNick Splatoon's DLC is content that was already finished and was drip-fed to us after release. The game would be bare-bones without it. Smash's content is being developed after the fact and added to an already very complete game. The developers of the DLC need to be paid. Where does that money come from?

@Genesaur You're right. Link, Samus, Meta Knight, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, Zelda and Shiek didn't make it into Smash because there are Mii costumes of them in Smash. Oh, wait.

What if.... The ballot is ACTUALLY for future character popularization reference like they said when the ballot was announced and will be utilized for future Smash Bros games in the series and we only get Costumes for the higher ranking characters?!?!

You know, Nintendo, when people asked for King K. Rool as a character this isn't really what we had in mind.

@night less entitlement and more you being sensible to negative criticism. People begged for K Rool as a fighter, gets K Rool as a costume. Then we are all wondering why there is hatred. He might still win the Ballot to become a fighter but you aren't doing any effort into seeing where these people come from.

The "leaked" images of this Dr. Mario stage are looking fairly legitimate and would not put it past them do do another presentation with secret content like Ryu and Roy should have been. Not expecting anything overly mind blowing like the first ballot character, but I think there is more to this update than we think. Time will tell if the stage is in fact real but it looks pretty real.

I'm very worried that K. Rool being a costume means no K. Rool DLC fighter in the future. However, there is a Link costume and Link is a fighter, so it isn't necessarily a deal breaker. This also applies to the Inklings too. They have Mii Costumes, but it is possible that they could later be implemented as full fledged characters as well.

Boy am I glad K. Rool is only a Mii Costume. I really did NOT want to see him as a playable character. There's hope for Bass yet!

I like everything but K Rool costume... I have no idea what to think of that. There's Link and Mega Man costumes. Hopefully this hints that K Rool will be a fighter instead of just a costume. K Rool was a big part of my childhood

@Konda it was never coming to 3ds. You need to watch the 50 things from October. They said tourneys are Wii u only. The 3ds cost $20 less meaning less features.

So 3 costumes and 2 stages will cost like $15 right? I wish the DLC wouldn't be so expensive.... Oh well, I'll still get it.

After all the leaks spoiling all the thunder last announcement, I hope the K Rool costume is a C RUEL cunning ploy to make us not expect him as a character...

@night If I could like your post, I most certainly would. I honestly couldn't agree more. The level of entitlement among Nintendo fans is beyond sickening and I too wish it would end. But unfortunately, it won't. We can only control ourselves and that's about it. So I will remain positive when something is given to me because life is too short to complain about something so trivial as video games. I may not like what the content being given to me by Nintendo all the time, but I don't have to. There will always be those who will enjoy something that I don't and vice versa. It doesn't mean I'm going to have a hissy fit about it or whine and complain over the internet as that does absolutely NOTHING! To the people who are assuming King K Rool won´t come as a character bcuz a mii outfit is coming are just stupid. I rather see it like that Sakurai have been looking at the voting results, and while producing the character, in the mean time you get to enjoy something while waiting. In normal case you want to please your customers for long term profit and customer satisfaction. Now consider that!

@Spike6958 I don't think so, an identical roster has always been top priority for Sakurai, so much that he cut functional ice climbers from the Wii U game because they wouldn't work on 3DS. He won't go back on that now.

This doesn't mean anything for the future of K Rool except that Nintendo is aware that he is popular (which is good for K Rool supporters). I personally would rather see other characters in, but this in no way deconfirmed him. Could be a tease as well.

To all of the people saying King K. Rool can come back because some other fighters have Mii costumes, let me remind you pretty much all of those characters are characters we knew was going to make it to Smash 4. Not trying to rain all over your parade or be a douch, I'm just saying.

I'm quite excited about K. Rool being a Mii costume. If it means what I take it to mean (that K. Rool won't be a full blown fighter), it blows the fighter ballot wide open. I always thought we were likely to get either K. Rool or Inkling but with both of them seemingly ruled out I now have no idea who we'll end up with.

Keep in mind the entire Smash community was voting, not just you. You obviously wanted K Rool as a playable character but that doesn't mean he won the majority votes, or even came close for that matter.

He was probably next in line on the list after the three highest votes, or however many they're making characters for. Meaning he lost the vote but they're still tossing fans a bone by making a costume. Which I think is a very generous gesture. They could've just not done anything. And to be perfectly honest that's kind of what I was expecting- one character wins the vote and that's it.

Sakurai sees the Mii Fighter costumes differently than most people. He sees them as representing their character just as much as a new fighter would. That's the thing. He sees those Virtua Fighter costumes as being just like having those characters as fighters. When we said we wanted K. Rool in SM4SH, we meant as a brand new fighter, not a Mii Fighter skin.

That's what Sakurai doesn't get.

Man i only have the basic Wii but i a HDD 1TB but if the update is too big it may force me to put on hdd and then i wont be able to use gamecube controller adapter without taking out weird connection.... I dont play games like so with wireless connections but i really dont wanna go back to cc pro controller i really dont. I hope its not over a gig update.

Well first of all I didn't know voting was still open, but nonetheless I'm pretty sure most people who wanted to vote have done so by now, and it may be like the mail in ballots of a presidential election, for example. Sure there's still more votes coming in but unless it's neck and neck, it's going to be negligible. Certainly not enough to turn the tide.

Or who knows, Im just speculating here. But it seems like the most plausible explanation. Unless they just wanted to give fans something now to tide them over.

King K.Rool could still happen. Maybe they'll use his pirate get up from DKC2 or boxer look from DK64 instead of his default look, hence the outfit...

But then again, you have to realize that some of these people have been waiting and hoping for YEARS for these characters to get in Smash. How would you feel if, say, you're the biggest... Kirby fan in the world, and you really wanted Waddle Dee or someone to be in the game. You'd be really disappointed that he wasn't in, and you'd be even more disappointed that he got in as a Mii costume, for example. I think the people who are complaining about characters for Smash are really going over kill on their complaining, though.

It seems Sakurai takes it as a challenge every time I say he has made a mess and delivered the worst possible experience in Smash WiiU, and he keeps on smashing my expectations (for bad) with every new update and DLC.

K Rool as costume? Im really glad I gave up gaming for the foreseeable future.

@Benny3999 While I agree about Link, I don't agree about Megaman. The Megaman you see in the NES games (the playable character) is a different character to the Megaman you see in the X and the same is true for Battle Network (the 2 Mii costumes).

Great support for the game so far, I just wish there was some kind of adventure mode too

Lol. It's just my opinion. I mostly don't like K Rool's figure proportions. He has stubby little legs compared to his torso. King Dedede has huge feet with no legs and Bowser has a huge turtle shell. It works better for those characters.

Also what happened to offline tournament mode? Wasn't that supposed to be there?

Yeah you're right. I don't have an expansive knowledge of Megaman since I've never played the games so I just kind of relate all of the Megaman costumes to the NES Megaman in my mind. I just hope that the King still has a chance.

I wish Mewtwo wasn't one to be purchased. :/
