Nintendo has revealed that two fan-favourite Wii titles will be coming to the Wii U eShop next month.
Vanillaware's Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Atlus' Trauma Team (known as Hospital: 6 Doctors in Japan) are the titles in question, and will launch on August 19th for 2,700 Yen each.
"Muramasa: The Demon Blade and games of its ilk are increasingly rare beasts," is what our very own Jon Wahlgren said in his 2009 review of the game. "With its striking hand-painted art direction, fun combat and exploration, it's the type of game that brings solace to those who lament the death of 2D on consoles." From the same studio that gave us Princess Crown, Odin Sphere and Dragon's Crown, this is a title that is well worth a second look.
Sadly, we never reviewed Trauma Team when it launched back in 2010, but it received pretty positive reviews elsewhere on the web. It never got a release in Europe, sadly.
While it hasn't been confirmed, we'd hope that both of these games will see a worldwide release on the Wii U eShop. Are you keen to play them again, or perhaps you wish to experience them for the first time? Leave a comment below to tell us what you think.

Whoah! I wasn't expecting this! Muramasa was one of my favorite Wii titles by far.
I hope it makes it to North America!
I much enjoyed Trauma Team when it came out in North America. It really expanded on the Trauma Center franchise and I'm sad we haven't seen a sequel since.
Europe please! Muramasa is one of the games I just have to play before I'm done with Wii, and it's been increasingly difficult to get it for a fair price or at all.
Nice. I was playing my importy copy of Trauma Team just yesterday. I wish they'd make a new Trauma game for 3DS or Wii U.
I have both of these but I'm re buying muramasa hands down.
If they weren't released in Europe first time round, I don't see them coming here this time. But if they do, I may be persuaded to part cash.
I really liked Muramasa. I mean, I already have it on Wii, so with minimal space remaining on my Wuu, I see no sense in downloading it.
Still, hope lots of hack-n'-slash fans pick it up. It's a gorgeous experience, to be sure.
@FragRed
They were both released in Europe, so fingers crossed they make it on VC too
I missed out on both titles. I owned the other Trauma Center games but I never got a chance to play Trauma Team. I will buy it if it makes it to the NA eshop.
I'm still playing Muramasa on PS Vita every now and then. It's such a charming game. I really hope it comes to Europe some day
Muramasa is great hopefully it comes to wii u e shop here in the U.S..
Dang it, Japan... Why must you always be better than us?
Muramasa got a PS Vita remake I believe. But I'll buy it on Wii U if I can use the Gamepad.
And I'm still hoping for The Last Story.
@Mogster Are you sure about Trauma Team? I know the other two Trauma Wii games were released in PAL regions but I never saw Team around.
It's only a matter of time before Other M gets on there...............................
Why can't they release these games worldwide instead of one at a time?
Please come to America? Please? I want to play Muramasa. BADLY.
Please come to America? Please? I want to play Muramasa. BADLY.
I want both to come.
I hear that, like many good niche games on the Wii, they have high prices on the second-hand market.
On recommendation, Muramasa was the last Wii game I bought. Gorgeous to look at, with a hand drawn 'typically' Japanese style and lots of fun, well worth a dl if you've never played it.
I'D BUY MURAMASA IN A HEART BEAT!
though I would like a re-release with all the new Vita content.
I know it has been said already on here, but Muramasa is a great game. If it comes to North America, it should be a definite pick up for someone who doesn't have it. I still have it for the Wii. I will not let go of that title.
Honestly Trauma Team coming out in Europe would jump up to probably 3rd on my most anticipated Wii U games for the year. I'm not too hopeful though. They still need to pay for classification for a digital release I think?
@Mogster Trauma Team never came out in Europe
I've been thinking about playing this again. It is one of the best Wii games. Shame I already brought it for £10.
The Trauma games were great, Sevond Opinion and Trauma Team were my favourites, its a shame there haven't been any more games for 3DS and/or Wii U.
I want Zangeki no Reginleiv to be released
Aww man. I was happy to see Muramasa: The Demon Blade coming out but then I saw it said "Japan eshop." I read the title too fast. XD Hope we get a NA & Europe eshop release too.
Muramasa almost made me buy a used VITA (I had the japanese Wii version and I absolutely loved it, except for the shamefully awful translation), but after trying it out on a friends' handheld, I realized just how awful the controls worked on it.
I'm still faintly hoping that the updated content might actually reach the WiiU through a download-exclusive version, but this announcement kills almost all chances of that happening...
@Nintenjoe64 It is on the JPN eshop already.
I wish there was a trama team made for Wii U. Same with endless ocean, two unique games that would be perfect for the platform.
Hope they get released here, I loved those games.
Man, I really hope Trauma Team sells a ton on the eShop so Atlus might takes another look at that series, considering how badly it sold originally. As one person put it: "Six Doctors. Six Specialties. Eleven thousand copies."
Also if I'm not mistaken this marks the first Atlus title on the eShop.
Muramasa will be an instabuy if it's not just a Wii ROM dump. Would be great if we got a bump in resolution but I'm pretty sure this is just like the other Wii games we got on Wii U up 'til now.
Also, would need to have an actual jump button for Muramasa too.
I love Muramasa, it would be great if this digital Wii version also got the DLCs from the Vita version. I don't need the jump button nor the updated translation, just the extra characters and stories.
Are Wii Virtual Console titles (like Muramasa) playable off-TV on the GamePad or do you have to use a Wii Remote?
Trauma Team is amazing; probably the best adventure game on the Wii. Absolute must buy.
Europe please?
Yes you still have to pay to have the game rated, but Trauma Team and other games like Excitebots which never made it to Europe would certain sell much more then the usual Wii game line up.
Wow! I'm actually playing Trauma Team right now, and I really like it! It's a lot of fun, I recommend it. I might check out Muramasa later.
We still don't have Kirby's Return to Dreamland or Donkey Kong Country Returns in North America... do we? What has Nintendo been doing with these Wii releases on the Wii U eShop? Seems it should be easy to release these games across regions, especially when they're already running in other regions. Also, for that matter, anyone know if they're launching new Wii games on the eShop with the $9.99 promo? I'd love to get (and would immediately snag) Kirby's Return, and $9.99 would get me on board right away.
@AcesHigh73 You have to use a Wiimote or Wii Classic Controller, but you can still use the gamepad as a screen, just not any of its buttons....
@NintendoFan64 You can get the Wii version for $15 and free shipping from ebay. If you want it so BADLY, why not just go there?
Muramasa is such a pretty game that it's worth playing JUST to look at the art in motion. But it's also a pretty good game.
@Pahvi .....I might be confusing the 2. @_@
Wonder if it would be a Port of the Wii version or Muramasa: Rebirth
And of course America won't get this including Kirby's Return to Dreamland Donkey Kong Country Returns, Metroid Zero Mission, the version of Metroid for the Famicom with an actual save system, Final Fantasy VI, the other Fire Emblem games, ect! Seriously what the hell is NoA doing?
@GiSWiG Really, now? I thought it was supposed to be hard to find. Anyways, I think "badly" was a bit too much. More like "something I would like to check out because it looked interesting".
Muramasa is one of the most KILLER 2D console games I've ever seen! It would be nice if it received an HD remake because the artwork is fantastic! And now, Child of Light!
I still own trauma team , might pick up muramasa didnt get to finish playthrough.
Muramasa got next to no retail presence in the UK - GAME wouldn't stock it for whatever reason and Rising Star probably didn't make what they were hoping for as publishers. I'd really like to see that come overseas in the eShop, but then we're still waiting for Super Mario Galaxy too!
Muramasa and Trauma Team are both great games. I spent so many hours completing the Trauma games and I wish they would bring a new one to the Wii U as it'd be the perfect platform for it.
I've considered getting Demon Blade before. I might just have to get it especially if it's discounted.
OMG!!!! Muramasa is brilliant
If the price is right (and it hits Europe) then I'll get Muramasa. One of the titles I could never get back in the day.
Was Muramasa playable with a classic controller? I never had the privilege to play this on the Wii
@Genesaur I have a 2TB external drive & no regrets. Every game that has gone on sale; I own. I'm going all digital, which is luxurious.
Hurra for the return of Muramasa !
