Teyon has announced that its first Wii U title will launch next Thursday - September 3rd - on the European eShop.
Zombie Defense is described as "a modern hybrid of a classic RTS and Tower Defence." As you can see from the announcement trailer below, it all looks very polished and suitably gory.

So the chuckleheads that made that horrible Rambo game and produce a wide variety of shovelware are making a game with zombies. Are Wii U owners really so starved for content that something like this is noteworthy?
Looks like a game I used to play on my ipod touch 2g. Ahh them were the days. Looks good ... for Teyon. We need some tower defense games on 3DS too...
@Moon You could always play DS tower defense games like Ninja Town, Starship Patrol, Plants vs. Zombies and Lock's Quest thanks to backwards compatibility.
@Mahe Ninja Town and Lock's Quest are absolutely brilliant games. Two hidden DS gems, in my opinion.
Zombie Defense? Am I the only one suprised that such "unique" title is still aviable after so many years of zombies' games and other media?
@shinynewbicycles Not forgetting the SUPERB Starship Patrol! on Dsi Ware!
The zombies in this game look and move like I do in the mornings after a 2am session of Splatoon. Why do I do it?? Obsession!
As for this game I'm definitely interested. Haven't played a good tower defense game in quite some time but is this good I'll wait and see.
Has Teyon made a good game before?
Can't wait, love the look of this!!!
@bro2dragons No, not really. People here are setting themselves up for disappointment.
Wii U would be amazing platform for Tower Defence games.
Just put one player on the GamePad and players on the TV would be the creeps/heroes depending the viewpoint.
@bro2dragons Bird mania and Candle route are decent. The remastered Steel empire is their best but it's 30 bucks.
Looks pretty fun, tbh.
Solid concept and it looks like it has all the right 'pieces', however from that trailer looks like they could do with a lot more animation for 'idle' units, something just seems totally off imo.
Will see how it reviews, I love RTS games and can tolerate tower defence games. I also enjoy zombie games so this should be something I would go for. Not convinced though yet.
@Zebetite
Just because a gaming site posts an article doesn't mean people are starved for content, nor does it mean they're interested in this game.
Me, I've got plenty backlog on Wii U. Enough to last me a long, LONG time. And plenty other games on the way shortly I plan on picking up.
Did they skip the other consoles?
Looks pretty cool. I'll try it out.
Zombies... Check
RTS... Check
looks interesting but well it keep interest to everybody? maybe so
@Zebetite A website should at least report on a game being announced for a system, good or bad. I agree, Teyon's track record isn't good... but neither is Sega and yet they still are considered a AAA publisher.
If you don't like it, just move on.
I think it looks interesting, but I do agree Zebeitte in that this publisher's track record is not good. And man could someone make some games about vampires? Zombie thing is getting old.
But as others have said, it mixes tower defense and RTS, so I like the idea.
I would love this to be the first RTS on the 3DS! It looks amazing, nonetheless!
@XCWarrior Really? You're comparing Sega to Teyon? Even with all of Sega's constant blunders over the years their track record is leagues ahead of Teyon's rock-solid mediocrity. Their best title, Steel Empire on the 3DS, is just a remake of a game that they had nothing to do with.
You know, fair enough about whether this is noteworthy or not, that was just my cynicism at work. But we can already guess how this will turn out based on everything else Teyon's done since 2006.
@Zebetite Think of it like an analogy, "Teyon is to indy publishers as Sega is to AAA publishers." Both are blind squirrels who find a nut now and then, but as a whole are total disgraces to the industry.
Again, I agree with you, the chances of this game being good are not great based on track record. But at least it appears from the video they are trying harder this time.
@bro2dragons they haven't made any goty or something like that but 90% of their (nintendo download) games are good enough.
They also tend to publish games. Not all of them are made by them, so it can be a bit hit and miss.
Looks really cool. Unless it just reviews horribly, there's a good chance I'll pick it up. When is it coming to North America?
@Spoony_Tech I'm always playing Splatoon from 12- 3:00 AM, PST. Usually, no one but me & Jap players in ranked battle. My on-line is "Tom." I've only seen one other player with the same tag. Maybe I'll splat you!!!
Anyway, I'm also getting this game. Looks fun.
Interesting. Thanks, guys. I legitimately didn't know. All I had in my head was that they were the ones who made those Heavy Fire games on WiiWare.
If it's cheap and playable, day 1 purchase. I don't expect much, but hey, fun is fun.
I actually have this game on my phone. It's actually pretty good, to me at least, and I have spent many hours on this game. I ile to upgrade everything as much as possible and try and make it as far as I can. If it's cheap enough and it actually turns out alright, I'll definitely pick this up on the Wii u!
@Mahe Thanks for the suggestions. I would much prefer to play 3DS games to DS games, but obviously this won't be possible as there aren't any 3DS TD games. I've got PVZ from DSi ware which is great, but the only others I can think of are Bloons TD (not worth the money) and another game which I think might be one of the ones you mentioned (it's very white) which looked interesting... Oh, and I have Steamworld Tower Defense (DSi) too, which isn't great.
But again, thanks for the suggestions.
@TomKnows My 2am is unfortunately your 11pm otherwise i would clear space to add you. So that means i'm pretty much on anywhere 8-11 your time. I need more people that play that late sometimes.
I think Teyon is relatively succesful with their WiiWare railshooter series Heavy Fire. It's still in the Top 20 in some regions.
But this is the first Teyon game that I'm interested in. Looks better than all their previous efforts.
