Re: Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing Franchises Are Heading to Smart Devices

@Ashthearcher Yeah, I was just talking about the gaming news I woke up to. The political news is gut-wrenching.

But I love Fire Emblem and any excuse for more is good in my book. The Zelda delay means the game is going to be incredible, and I'm very glad Nintendo won't be showing NX at E3--it's just too early to show everything and with the way media has changed, it isn't as necessary for big news as it used to be.

My only (gaming) negative from today's news is the March NX release. I wish it was a few months later, so I could get my first launch-day Nintendo system, but I'm still happy for everyone else that the release is already less than a year away.

I'm surprised to see this here, but I will say that while this thing looks great and I don't really understand how there could be any problem with somebody making one Nintendo-themed handgun, I definitely wouldn't be buying one for the impracticality alone.

Crazies and sportsmen aside, people don't buy guns like these to use them, but to keep others from using them. Most often when a gun is pulled--including by law enforcement officers--no shots are fired because, as we're all aware, it's a bit intimidating to have a firearm pointed in your direction, especially at handgun-accurate range. That's enough to get most people to reconsider whatever course of action they may have otherwise planned.

The article is correct that this one DOES look like a toy and that keeps any intimidation factor a Glock usually carries from coming into play. This weapon would have to be shot to be of any use, when in any other situation, that would be the last resort.

Re: Zavvi's 20th Anniversary Pokémon Pokébox Is Now Available For Preorder

@zool In the sense that every news story ever written is "promoting" the subject of the story, sure. But NintendoLife didn't say the box was great, Zavvi was great, mystery boxes are great or even Pokémon is great. They said "here's something someone is doing to commemorate Pokémon's 20th anniversary. Do with that information whatever you want."

As a news outlet that gives Nintendo-centric information to fans of Nintendo products, this was pretty much what the site is all about.

By an large, NintendoLife doesn't do fantastic journalism (though they are certainly more respectable than some competitors). And I have absolutely no intention of getting this box. So don't think that I'm in league with either party. But NL did it's readers no disservice here and it would be unfair to intimate otherwise.

Re: Zavvi's 20th Anniversary Pokémon Pokébox Is Now Available For Preorder

@zool They aren't encouraging people to order it. They wrote an article telling readers that it exists. VERY different thing and only the first is unethical.

@AlexSora89 LootCrate is a service that sends themed mystery boxes of pop culture clothing and collectables to you every month. They announce the theme and the franchises it includes a month ahead of time and it changes each time. So a "Space" theme might get you Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Metroid and Mass Effect items. The total value of the box's contents is always said to be more than the cost of the box, which entices people to order. Since LootCrate became popular a number of other services have popped up mimicking their success, most of which are more specific. I, myself, subscribe to the Marvel Collectors Corps, which is a box by Funko sent bi-monthly and themed around Marvel comic/movie properties. They at least give you a rough idea of what to expect, though. Every box (except for their Christmas one) contains two figures, a comic book, a t-shirt, a badge, and a pin, and all of the items are exclusive to the service.

Re: Preview: Punching Pikachus in Pokkén Tournament

With how disappointing most of late 2015 was (Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Animal Crossing amiibo Festival, Devil's Third), it's really refreshing to see the quality start they're giving to 2016. Fire Emblem: Fates, Pokkén Tournament, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Star Fox Zero... my gaming budget is going to run out of money pretty quickly.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Fates (3DS)

bro2dragons

So can you download the other campaign, too (as an addition, not a separate game)? Or only the third campaign?

I want to play all three, though I can't count on getting the extended edition, and it would be nice to have them all in one spot, rather than in separate 3DS files/icons.

Re: Review: PEG SOLITAIRE (Wii U eShop)

bro2dragons

@RCMADIAX This is one I would absolutely get if, like the review suggests, there was a way to either choose or randomize which hole is left empty. It's a very simple feature to add in an update and could be done quickly and with very little work to make this one of your best products.

Re: Splatoon Producer Hints at More Content Being Added in the Future

bro2dragons

@Gorlokk I think it would be exactly that: just bigger and better. Like a new iteration of Smash, the idea wouldn't change, but it would grow every time.

The idea that we can only play on two modes and four maps at any one time is ridiculous. They would not only make more maps and modes for a sequel, but allow us to choose whichever ones we wanted to play, ya know, like EVERY other online multiplayer game does. The game would also have more weapons and weapon types, more gear, a more robust single players and, likely, a real local multiplayer mode. Then a couple things we didn't expect (maybe a mode with more players) and voila.

Re: Rumour: Data Miners Find Evidence That Suggests New Splatoon amiibo Are Coming

bro2dragons

When Ancho-V Games came out, they did cheekily mention that its the office for the people who made the minigames, and that the computers are turned off so you can't see what new games they're currently working on.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see more of the same: challenges, gear, weapons, and minigames.

In which case, I'd suspect Blaster and Slosher-based challenges, though Splatling Guns haven't been done either. It's a long shot, but since the squid had infinite Kraken challenges, I would love to see infinite Ink Strike challenges. Could be interesting having that as your only means of attack while you waddle around avoiding enemy ink.

Re: Pokkén Tournament Modes and Details Emerge

bro2dragons

@rjejr There are probably trainers behind the scenes. The matches are all spectated by humans, as far as I know, so it's not likely the pokémon created a tournament on their own and filled the audience with people. That said, I think canonically, pokémon do sometimes fight in the wild to test one another's power and skill, not to mention fighting for food, so the game doesn't really need a reason for the combat.

Re: Review: The Perplexing Orb (Wii U eShop)

This sounds like Treefall's best game yet, so kudos to the guy for improving. I hope he keeps making new things and getting better each time. I'm sure that, just like Mr. Madiax above me, we'll eventually get something really special out of him.
