Re: Preview: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Great, But I Want To Kill One Of Its Characters

badmotorfinger74

The character definitely seems jarring, especially in a game franchise that has focused on the feeling of isolation in the past. That said, the other parts shown look like a classic Metroid Prime game, and I’m still pretty hyped for the game. Hopefully this guy is just part of the tutorial (and hopefully there are lots of new players playing their first Metroid that can use a tutorial).

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

badmotorfinger74

For the most part, I use the Switch Online app, with the exception being a couple games that aren't available there which I play on my iPad (like Tecmo Bowl with updated rosters). I still have my original NES and games stored away in the closet, but the convenience of Switch Online means I probably won't ever need to get it out again.

Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6

badmotorfinger74

I’m not rushing to buy a next gen PlayStation or Xbox at this point. Sony has abandoned all of the franchises I enjoyed and who knows what Microsoft is doing at this point. As for a Sony hybrid console, I’m not sure that’s what Sony fans are clamoring for, and I wouldn’t put it past Sony to completely abandon it if it doesn’t sell (see PSVR2 as exhibit A).

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario Kart World?

badmotorfinger74

8.5 for me. My main issue is the 24 racers in online Grand Prix. I wish there were options for number of racers. It’s just a bit too chaotic for my liking, and it feels like the majority of the race is spent with a large pack of other players bouncing off each other with items flying around haphazardly. It’s fun at first, but I just don’t want to play for extended periods.

Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

badmotorfinger74

I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been playing No Man’s Sky (what a massive improvement on Switch 2) and Mario Kart. NMS kills the battery pretty quickly, but it’s fine for the amount of time I can play. Unfortunately, a large amount of moronic “influencers” trying to drum up clicks by bashing the Switch 2 are polluting my social media feed now. Hopefully Nintendo breaks some sales records and shuts them up.

Re: Rumour: Xbox Expected To Join Switch 2 With A New Handheld This Year

badmotorfinger74

I'm actually hopeful for this. I play my Switch in handheld mode nearly 100% of the time, and I've been using a Portal to play my Playstation. Still playing XBox on the TV, though. I'm a Nintendo first gamer, but if I could get the big games that don't come to Nintendo's platform on another portable device, that might fit my evolving gaming habits. Sony doesn't seem to care about the fans of older franchises like Socom and Killzone, so I am having second thoughts about getting the next Playstation at this point. Might jump ship and just be Nintendo and Microsoft next gen.

Re: Rumour: Insider Claims That Halo: Master Chief Collection Will Come To 'Switch 2'

badmotorfinger74

I just realized that I’ve not played a single shooter on Switch other than Splatoon. I’d probably pick up a Halo collection to scratch that occasional itch. This is the older version of Flight Simulator from 2020 I believe, which was a bit of a hog for SSD space. Don’t think I’d double dip on that one, especially since the 2024 version is out (albeit a bit broken at times).

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2023 Is Baldur's Gate 3

badmotorfinger74

TOTK is my personal GOTY, followed by Starfield and Pikmin. I’m looking forward to playing Mario Wonder and Baldur’s Gate over the Christmas break. It would have been cool if Zelda won GOTY again, but overall, Nintendo has a lot to be proud of. Gotta say, the new game from Hello Games looks intriguing. Kind of hoping there’s something to do in that big open world they’ve created. Keeping that one on my radar.

Re: UK Charts: Mario Kart And Zelda Hang Tight As Starfield Drops Back Down To Earth

badmotorfinger74

As a long time Zelda fan, I'm really happy with the success they've had with BOTW and TOTK. Just beat TOTK a few weeks ago, and it was probably my favorite moment in my long, storied time as a gamer. Currently enjoying Starfield on my Series S, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I think it's better than all the hate it's getting online. It scratches that Bethesda itch for fans of their games.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo IP Should 'Switch 2' Launch With?

badmotorfinger74

I think if the new Metroid is as good as the first Prime, it should be a launch title. People will be more willing to try it out with a new system in hand (and fewer games available). I really believe the Metroid franchise can be as big as Zelda and Mario (especially if it’s a launch game). For the life of me, I can’t understand why it’s not more popular yet.
