@IronMan30 I sent my wife a link to Metroid on Amazon with a “If you only get me one Christmas gift, please let it be this game” message. She’s never let me down yet!
The character definitely seems jarring, especially in a game franchise that has focused on the feeling of isolation in the past. That said, the other parts shown look like a classic Metroid Prime game, and I’m still pretty hyped for the game. Hopefully this guy is just part of the tutorial (and hopefully there are lots of new players playing their first Metroid that can use a tutorial).
Here's to another 20 (at least)! Your website is seriously the best out there for Nintendo news (and your sister sites are pretty great too). Keep up the great work!
Looks amazing. Really hyped to play it. Not sure what it is about the motorcycle gameplay, but it just looks odd to me. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to taking time off work over Christmas and playing this and Outer Worlds.
For the most part, I use the Switch Online app, with the exception being a couple games that aren't available there which I play on my iPad (like Tecmo Bowl with updated rosters). I still have my original NES and games stored away in the closet, but the convenience of Switch Online means I probably won't ever need to get it out again.
I'll definitely be picking up Battlefield next month, but I'm trying to work through Donkey Kong and Star Wars : Outlaws right now. Between BF6, Outer Worlds 2, and Metroid, I think I my fall/winter gaming is set (and I might throw the Oblivion remake in there too... hopefully it comes to Switch 2 though).
I’m not rushing to buy a next gen PlayStation or Xbox at this point. Sony has abandoned all of the franchises I enjoyed and who knows what Microsoft is doing at this point. As for a Sony hybrid console, I’m not sure that’s what Sony fans are clamoring for, and I wouldn’t put it past Sony to completely abandon it if it doesn’t sell (see PSVR2 as exhibit A).
I kept the controls as they were and decided to push through and try to make it work. I'm at sublevel 800 now, and I still occasionally hit the wrong button, haha.
I enjoyed my time with Starfield on Xbox and if it comes to Switch I’ll definitely buy it again. It’s not as good as Skyrim or Fallout 4, but I’d still give it a 7 or 8 out of 10 for me personally. It’s got the Bethesda experience, with some frustrating gameplay mechanics that I hope they fix eventually.
I would have bought it on Switch 2 if they made it available. Having Battlefield on a handheld device would be perfect for my gaming habits as of late. I’ll probably still play it on PS5 as it’s the only shooter franchise that I still enjoy.
8.5 for me. My main issue is the 24 racers in online Grand Prix. I wish there were options for number of racers. It’s just a bit too chaotic for my liking, and it feels like the majority of the race is spent with a large pack of other players bouncing off each other with items flying around haphazardly. It’s fun at first, but I just don’t want to play for extended periods.
I've honestly been playing this more than Mario Kart World. I picked it back up a few weeks ago on Switch 1 after a long hiatus, and I've been obsessed. The Switch 2 update is almost like a brand new game. I'm just having a ton of fun with it right now.
No Man’s Sky seems to be a bit of a battery hog as well. I played it for about 20 minutes on my lunch break the other day, and the battery was at about 85%.
I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been playing No Man’s Sky (what a massive improvement on Switch 2) and Mario Kart. NMS kills the battery pretty quickly, but it’s fine for the amount of time I can play. Unfortunately, a large amount of moronic “influencers” trying to drum up clicks by bashing the Switch 2 are polluting my social media feed now. Hopefully Nintendo breaks some sales records and shuts them up.
I literally jumped back into this game about a week ago on Switch. Looking forward to continuing my journey with the enhanced version tomorrow in between some Mario Kart fun.
Madden is a perfect game for me to play in handheld mode. Disappointing that it’s a keycard though. Might pick it up digitally if it goes on sale, but $70 is too much for the number of hours I’d actually play it.
One of my most anticipated games. Glad that it's still expected this year. I'd prefer to play it on Switch 2 for the portability, but I'd pick it up day one on PS5 if it doesn't come to Switch.
Glad it’s finally been added. These old NES tunes are like a time machine, and the original Zelda in particular has a special place for me. That intro music puts me back in my parent’s basement (complete with wood paneling) playing Zelda on a 32” tube tv in a wooden enclosure.
I'm actually hopeful for this. I play my Switch in handheld mode nearly 100% of the time, and I've been using a Portal to play my Playstation. Still playing XBox on the TV, though. I'm a Nintendo first gamer, but if I could get the big games that don't come to Nintendo's platform on another portable device, that might fit my evolving gaming habits. Sony doesn't seem to care about the fans of older franchises like Socom and Killzone, so I am having second thoughts about getting the next Playstation at this point. Might jump ship and just be Nintendo and Microsoft next gen.
It was the 80's. This stuff was the norm... I still remember seeing this commercial and having no clue what the game was even about. I asked for TLOZ for Christmas 1988 even though I didn't know what it was. What a stroke of luck. It's turned out to be a lifelong source of fun for me (and my son).
I just realized that I’ve not played a single shooter on Switch other than Splatoon. I’d probably pick up a Halo collection to scratch that occasional itch. This is the older version of Flight Simulator from 2020 I believe, which was a bit of a hog for SSD space. Don’t think I’d double dip on that one, especially since the 2024 version is out (albeit a bit broken at times).
I usually tune in and am usually left disappointed, so that's my expectation once again. I'll have the Game Awards on my iPad while watching football on the big screen (go Rams!).
If Nintendo would make their own remake of the original Zelda, I'd probably be more excited for that than 90% of the other game announcements happening nowadays. This looks pretty great.
@HolyGeez03 no, it's not really anything like Subnautica (which I love). More of a third person walking sim with puzzles that need solving to advance. I played this on PS5. It was short, but an enjoyable experience, mainly for the atmosphere. No real need to revisit it on the Switch though.
In a way, I'm hoping that the "live action" is something akin to The Dark Crystal or something unique like that. I don't think having an actor dress up like Link is something I'm really looking forward to. Nevertheless, I'll be there opening day with the rest of my crew to (hopefully) experience some of that Nintendo magic.
Genuinely curious…. What is it about BG3 that makes it so difficult to port? I’m playing it on PS5 since Christmas, and I’m still very early in the game, but I’ve not seen anything that makes it seem impossible. Lots of things happening “under the hood” I’d assume.
TOTK is my personal GOTY, followed by Starfield and Pikmin. I’m looking forward to playing Mario Wonder and Baldur’s Gate over the Christmas break. It would have been cool if Zelda won GOTY again, but overall, Nintendo has a lot to be proud of. Gotta say, the new game from Hello Games looks intriguing. Kind of hoping there’s something to do in that big open world they’ve created. Keeping that one on my radar.
It's the season of "put it on your Christmas list" for everything kids ask for. I know I've put off purchasing Wonder just for that reason (I want it for Christmas). They'll sell more, don't worry.
I still have every Nintendo console since the NES, safely tucked away in the closet. I'll keep it in the original box to someday pull it out and relive the good ol' days.
I’d love to play Starfield on my Switch (I bought a Series S just to play it). Heck I’d even be down for remote play on the Switch if the two companies could work out a deal. I’ve always been a Nintendo first, Sony second, but I’ve enjoyed my first foray into the Xbox ecosystem.
I'm going to be pretty sad if the new one doesn't have OLED. The Switch OLED's screen is amazing to look at. That said, I'll be the first in line to buy whatever they put out, because I'm an addict, and Nintendo has the goods...
Looks like in order to get the NES Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge, you have to buy the full collection. That's too bad as I don't really want the whole collection. I know those are supposedly inferior to the official ones, but I have lots of nostalgia for those games (Metal Gear NES was the first game I'd purchased).
I can tell that it just has that Nintendo magic. If you know, you know. Going to hold off until Christmas for this one, as I'm still plugging away at Starfield and Pikmin 4. Super Mario World is my favorite 2D Mario, so the comparisons make me really happy.
As a long time Zelda fan, I'm really happy with the success they've had with BOTW and TOTK. Just beat TOTK a few weeks ago, and it was probably my favorite moment in my long, storied time as a gamer. Currently enjoying Starfield on my Series S, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I think it's better than all the hate it's getting online. It scratches that Bethesda itch for fans of their games.
Honestly, with the rumors of a new Switch next year, I wasn’t expecting too much. Sad that the 3D Zelda HD editions are still MIA though. I thought maybe they would throw us that bone.
I still need to find about 12 shrines, and a bunch of light roots before I go fight the final boss. I'm just enjoying the side quests right now, but I'm feeling the crunch with Starfield coming out in a few weeks. Poor Pikmin has taken a backseat to Zelda in the meantime.
I think if the new Metroid is as good as the first Prime, it should be a launch title. People will be more willing to try it out with a new system in hand (and fewer games available). I really believe the Metroid franchise can be as big as Zelda and Mario (especially if it’s a launch game). For the life of me, I can’t understand why it’s not more popular yet.
Years ago, I received a copy of the original Mario+Rabbids game for my birthday. It was factory sealed and everything. When I opened it, no cartridge. It was ordered from Amazon, so a new copy was sent out, and the replacement did indeed have a cartridge.
Everything from Gamecube on up I have on shelves. NES through N64 are in storage in a bedroom closet. TBH, I never really considered displaying them, but that would be pretty cool.
