Re: Feature: Our Most Treasured Zelda Memories

“My family grew up on the NES thanks to my Grandpa (who still recalls picking it up in the electronics department at our local Sears)”. As an 80’s kid, I can see this imagery so clearly in my mind, lol.
My favorite Zelda memory was feeding Dodongo a bomb for the first time. I ran upstairs and excitedly told my dad, who looked from behind his newspaper unimpressed. I was hooked from that moment on.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Replay Games?

badmotorfinger74

It’s really rare for me to replay games. It’s not the 80’s/90’s anymore when the games were shorter and I had more time. I do welcome the rereleases Nintendo has been offering because it does give an opportunity to revisit some old classics, but otherwise I’m not connecting my old consoles to re-experience those games from my youth.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

badmotorfinger74

For the most part I’ve rolled credits on my favorite games. I’ve found that a lot of games are really there just to tide me over until the next big release. Plus games are just freaking huge now. I spent a ton of time on sWitcher but feel like I barely scratched the surface. Meanwhile I’ve beaten games like Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Outer Worlds which were somewhat criticized for being short.

Re: Nintendo Plugs Zelda: Skyward Sword HD With New "Button-Only" Control Scheme

badmotorfinger74

I’m happy to give this one another shot with the new controls. I really struggled with the motion controls (I always felt like there was a slight delay between my movement and the game actions). My son and I split time on our first playthrough, but I never could beat the final boss (he did eventually, without me). I really enjoyed some of the dungeons in this one, but couldn’t get past the control frustrations.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Good, Actually

badmotorfinger74

Well, I always said I’d give this game another shot if they got rid of those darn motion controls. Time to put my money where my mouth is. I never realized how poorly it sold. That said, there is a lot to like about it. I think it had some really cool dungeons, but also quite a few annoyances (I despised the Silent Realm challenges and the Imprisoned fights).

Re: Feature: Best Wii U Games

badmotorfinger74

I really wish I would have played the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD remasters when we had the WiiU hooked up. Honestly I barely touched the WiiU (The Switch is where I do 90% of my gaming now though). Hopefully we’ll get them on the Switch soon enough so I can revisit a couple of my favorite Zeldas.

Re: Nintendo Wants To Know Whether You Prefer 2D Or 3D Zelda Games

badmotorfinger74

I remember looking at the booklet that came with the original LOZ and they had these cool drawings of Link in the dungeons and fighting the enemies. I always thought, wouldn’t it be amazing if some day the game looked like that artwork, and now they do. When playing 2D I had to imagine it, but with 3D it’s a reality. The 2D games are amazing, but for me 3D is the Zelda experience I’ve always wanted.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Sold More Copies Than The Entire Metroid Franchise

badmotorfinger74

Well they seemed to have reinvented the Zelda formula on the Switch and it sold better than any previous Zelda game. Hopefully in a couple of years we’ll be looking back and saying the same about Metroid. Also, I don’t think it would be a bold prediction to say that Metroid on Switch will be the best selling in franchise history. Nintendo games have been selling great this generation.
