Re: Anniversary: Celebrate Unova As Pokémon Black & White Turns 15

Zenszulu

These were probably the only games in the series that managed to kind of recapture the original games magic for me because playing through the story you only had access to the new Pokemon and it felt in many ways like the series was starting over. I just feel after these games and their sequels the games really started to go down hill not just from the games being too easy but they also started basically giving you easy methods of getting the best stats to push everyone towards competitive battling. Part of what made the older games better too was you having to work really hard to get those stats and spend a lot of time working on the stats. I was never one for that aspect but I really appreciated how much effort people would go to when training a team. I would worry if this game were remade they would strip out any kind of challenge and streamline them to the point they lose any charm.

Re: Mario Kart World's Rewind Feature Is Being Used To Set Crazy Time Trial Lap Records

Zenszulu

@Divide_and_Wander Since I am not American I didn't really have access to Nintendo Power but N64 Magazine here in the UK kept regular records though out its life and some of the times got so low they were no longer being updated except for by the small handful of people that set the records to begin with. If I recall towards the end they started over again only accepting non-glitched shortcuts require you to record the whole run as evidence. It was too late by that point though as most people had moved on from the N64 as a whole and were either awaiting the release of the Gamecube or had switched to the PS2.

Re: Rumour: Iconic Studio Codemasters May Soon Close For Good

Zenszulu

They went from being one of that last British publishers to have survived since the 8-Bit micro days to being arguably one of the most consistent racing game publishers for the past decade of so to being just another EA studio. Also the last game from them on Nintendo console was Grid Autosport on the Switch in 2019.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade Is Making The Leap To Switch 2

Zenszulu

@DaniPooo it's not so much about the graphic settings the game is more more a struggle on cpus than anything that's why I made the comment about it still struggling on PS5 and Series X since the game was poorly optimised to begin with. So it hitting 4K60 on Switch 2 would be optimistic even with any kind of upscaling unless the original resolution is very low.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade Is Making The Leap To Switch 2

Zenszulu

@DaniPooo well I wasn't even talking about 16 which is why you seem to have got what I was saying about 15 muddled up with it. But I think both could be done targeting 4K30 and I actually think 16 would have an easier time than 15 unless they do a good job optimising the port. If 16 does ever get ported id it's close to the PS5 version then it will be very much a win but even then I would expect in a 1080p mode it would perform way better than on the Steam Deck because that is what people should be comparing it too.

Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

Zenszulu

People are complaining about the system price for some reason but when you're compare it to the price of a Steam Deck then it is a very good price as it costs less than an OLED model of that. So the console price itself isn't the issue for me it's the games especially first party games where even used copies tend to be labelled the same price or close to new copies of Nintendo games especially for the first few years. That being said I was expecting it. I remember the days when certain SNES games would cost that much because they had a large rom size for the time and battery back up and that was 30 years ago.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade Is Making The Leap To Switch 2

Zenszulu

@DaniPooo I am not doubting it is powerful enough but it is more to do with the game itself being such a mess. 16 which I completely forgot about would probably cope about the same since the base PS5 version struggles itself at 4K30.

But as far as 15 goes even with upscaling it has proven to be a bit of a mixed bag for framerates going up to 60. Although it seems you got the two confused.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

Zenszulu

It was a 6 Nintendo's own stuff at times was too heavily focused on the camera and telling you to upgrade everything for a price. I was definitely happy about Mario Kart's open world style though and Metroid Prime 4 supporting a 120fps mode even more that the actual handheld mode will support that. The third party stuff definitely made it seem worthwhile though From Software selling me on it with their exclusive game.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Priced At $449.99 For The Base Console

Zenszulu

Honestly it was about what I was expecting. The system has a far better screen than I was expecting with a 120hzs refresh rate. Seeing as and Oled Steam Deck costs more than this it's a very good price. Not sure why people were expecting less. Hardware is now past the point of being considered cheap and I would imagine the Series S is probably going to be that last console released at the kind of price.

Re: Review: SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (Switch) - A Great-Looking But Painfully Average Fighter

Zenszulu

People are bashing the reviewer here but even at the time when this game was released it was criticised for for having poor AI and just feeling lower quality overall to other SNK fighting games and inferior in every way to the Capcom vs SNK games. The game hasn't suddenly gotten better over time and while it's definitely an interesting piece of SNK fighting game history but it also represents the period of time when SNK went bankrupt and their future was uncertain and the output of games felt more rushed.

Re: Random: New Pokémon Ad Positions 3DS As 'Retro', And The Internet Disagrees

Zenszulu

@Euler yes things after the Dreamcast are considered retro. You yourself may not define them as retro but even the GameCube, Xbox, and PS2 are considered retro. I would even lumber the Wii in there. Maybe not the PS3 and Xbox 360 yet as they had a lot of crossover games with the last generation of systems in their final few years. The way I see it is if the systems are no longer officially supported even online and an entire generation of people were born since then and they never got to experience them then it is more than likely retro.

Re: Switch Emulator Yuzu To Pay $2.4 Million To Nintendo & Cease Development

Zenszulu

Their biggest issue was releasing an emulator while the system was still on the market. They can't really be surprised that people were using it to emulate the latest switch games as a result.

Then people are getting mad at Nintendo because they claim they are only using dumped versions of games they own to use it. People are naive to think the vast majority of people using it aren't using it to avoid buying the games. If this was years down the line then it would probably less of an issue. I'm just surprised it took this long.

Re: Fan-Made 'Link's Awakening DX HD' Port Taken Down By Nintendo

Zenszulu

There are a lot of people who think places like Nintendo Life reporting on it is what got it taken down. They released this port publicly and people were already sharing it on social media. Do people think no one at Nintendo would have become aware of it's existence? I would guess guess most of the people who downloaded it wouldn't have known themselves if it hadn't been shared around online to begin with.

Thinking Nintendo won't know about it if the news doesn't report it makes many of you look naïve to say the least. If they didn't want Nintendo to find out they made it then they shouldn't have released it in a public way.

I am not taking either side here but some people always act shocked when a company like Nintendo doesn't want a property they own getting a PC port they didn't authorise released and think because they have money it makes them evil for doing it.

Re: Random: Valve's Gabe Newell On Game Delays: "Late Is Just For A Little While, Suck Is Forever"

Zenszulu

Well not so much these days as developers tend to work on certain games for years after its release because it was never anywhere close to having all the features it was supposed to have at launch. It's more down to publishers getting cold feet and fear the buzz of a game is wearing off because they announced it so early it was still several years away from being what was promised. Take No Man's Sky for example. There are however plenty of delayed games that eventually get rushed in the end to get them out and that suck, get bad reviews and get abandoned or because the development studio gets shut down as a result of how much that delayed game cost to make.

Re: Telltale Games Confirms Layoffs, With 'Most Of' The Studio Reportedly Gone

Zenszulu

So they reformed just for the same thing to happen again? obviously their business model is no longer financially successful as that was the reason for their problems the first time around as well as how they treated staff. It's all well and good continuing on but their episodic game releases aren't as appealing as they were when they first came out and they failed to realise that.

Re: Review: AEW: Fight Forever - The Spirit Of WWF No Mercy Lives On In The Ring

Zenszulu

I considered ordering this on Switch due to the lack of any wrestling games in general and not only is this getting pretty average reviews due to it's lack of overall content and already outdated roster but for the switch version to also have a major performance issue kind of talked me out of even considering it. I will give it a few months but for a game that was last year reportedly going way over budget because they were spending way to much on adding some of the mini games you would have expected a little more content to be added to make up for it.

Re: Soapbox: 15 Years Ago, The Action Replay Ruined Pokémon For Me

Zenszulu

I dabbled with things like actions replays on a few different systems but very rarely on games that I put countless hours into a save file like on a Pokemon game.

That being said I did use one on my N64 regularly on the WWF games from THQ as there were some pretty good ways to mod arenas and textures for outfits by swapping different ones around and even make new match types. Was a very time consuming process to say the least.
