@nessisonett just to point out aren't you equally hating on those "man children" with your comment that you claim will hate on her? So your comment can be seen as just as bad as potential ones.
You only need to see that people are spending huge amounts on trying to get certain items in games to see it is gambling they are also there in many games to give people the edge over others once you get those items so the games start to become unbalanced in favour of those who put more and more money in rather than any sort or time and skill investment. The minute I seen these things turn up in Fifa a decade ago I thought they were exactly that sadly though it takes many people a long time to realise it and it is even more obvious now when you see children using parents credit cards to keep buying this stuff because they feel compelled to.
These legendary editions of sports games are becoming a yearly rip off from both 2K and EA paying for content you won't be using in 12 months time and then stuff that will become useless a few months after that when servers shut down. I get digital bundles for games that have incredibly long server life and that will go onto the next generation of systems or are even cross platform accounts so you can enjoy your purchases for a potentially infinite amount of time but not for games with such a short lifespan.
@boatie there are a few good ones on the PC version but unless they can be imported to this I doubt you will see anything of any true quality outside of using the in game assets for most people. I am not even sure if this version will allow for sprite creation through an in game editor or even to add custom code like the PC version without those two things most games will be the same but I would love someone to correct me on the sprite editor and custom code part as I'm not 100% sure and details on the Japanese version even though it's been out ages have been hard to find
@mesome713 I think you are missing the point that most of these codes are digital only and created no physical waste as the codes were either shown directly in your purchases on these websites of sent via email. While the codes that were shipped in physical cases was a bit pointless this is more giving people a lack of opinions on where to purchase the games digitally as many of Nintendo's own games are cheaper by purchasing the codes from reputable online retailers.
@Ks123 I think most people actually realised what they were doing last year when they released all the Nintendo Star Wars games on cartridges that were more expensive than it was to pick an original copy up. People would have understood if it was games that had limited print runs in the first place but not games that sold millions of copies and were easy to pick up.
I would actually be interested in this for the metal cartridge in the N64 box to put it in just for being but last time I ordered something from them and had it shipped to the UK it never arrived and it took ages to get a refund from them.
So only 3,000 copies for the Wii version means it will be snapped up by scalpers day one and be on Ebay at four for five times the price the day they get it. Amazing dedication that they are releasing these two versions but you know it is being done to make them incredibly expensive in the future.
To answer he question in the article after seeing the performance issues for the game I chose against buying it in the first place. So I can't return to it in the first place. I will however wait and see if a future patch makes it a more appealing purchase. However, like Ark it seems like it is far too much to run on the switch just downscaled it really requires huge optimisation.
@Jokerwolf I just said that in different words that is why it would be a limited time exclusive before freeing them up to release it elsewhere. So to sum it up it was nothing to do with Apple or how much money it was making it is more they signed up and accepted guaranteed money to release it exclusively more than likely to help fund the remainder of the development costs.
@Jokerwolf it isn't about if they were making money they are likely just limited time exclusive deals and once they expire they are free to release them on other systems. Being on a subscription service means the publisher would have got paid up front for the length of time to be on the service the game itself does not generate money on it's own but the service does. So the game would have made the exact same amount of money if everyone who as the service played it or if no one who had the service played it.
@Jokerwolf from your comment you seem to think Apple is some how responsible for it being able to released on other systems. They didn't have anything to do with developing or publishing the game and only had a limited time exclusive contact for the game to be on their platform so it has nothing to do with Apple coming to any kind of conclusion.
@Mgalens I am not against these collection more when they are in physical form but the service Nintendo has on offer is pretty much moot when most of the bigger third party releases won't be coming to it and if anything third parties realised how much they could still get for older games after Nintendo's own success with the mini consoles.
Collections like this are why the games available on the NES and Snes for the Switch Online will not feature many of the bigger third party releases as they have all clued on to the fact they can make more from them by releasing them in compilation like this.
Very impressive. I am becoming a big fan of fan game mods on older systems some from hacks are so impressive these days and even more so when they are running on the real hardware as opposed to emulators. I would love to see a game like botw get a total conversion at some point but feel that would take a long time to pull off as it already takes years to do that for N64 Zelda fan mods.
@Toy_Link Well English isn't his first language so not everyone who writes things in English has a complete understanding of when to use certain words and the grammar.
For everything that seems to be wrong with the game technically in handheld mode to the price this seems like the oddest thing about the game to complain about.
13 out of 15 the Sonic one out of all the questions surprised me but let's face it it's more a technicality that he is in it than anything rather than having anything to do with the game. Although, the question does say on screen rather than in the game I guess.
Fantastic guide and well worth it if you play the GBA a lot and replacement batteries are actually easy to come by for it some with longer life than the originals. This is something I would rather leave to someone who has experience in doing it more with making the physical alterations to the shell as I am personally a bit heavy handed with that kind of stuff and knowing my luck would damage the case personaly I would rather just use an original DS as they already have a good quality screen and are cheap to pick up.
@Maelwolf for the most part that is why when you see disgruntled people giving games low review scores on places like metacritic not because a game is bad in a how it plays but because it didn't include something they wanted or they have a twisted vendetta against the game developer or publisher. Some people even as adults can't see things for both the positives and negatives and would rather only highlight the negatives and claim it is the worst game ever because of that. I think most people have given up complaining about the games though as they realise that it wasn't going to change Game Freaks mind on what was going into the game and that most people who have brought them have been enjoying what is on offer rather than caring too what isn't there. It's also one of the worst aspects of anything with a huge fanbase that some become so negative and consumed with telling people how bad things are you question if they actually liked the things to begin with or just the image of it they built up in their own mind.
When the price was revealed I actually thought it was a mistake and thought that the only way I would even consider buying this is if it turned out to be a fantastically optimised port... if the price wasn't as high people might have looked past the performance issues a bit or if they cut the framrate in handheld mode to improve the resolution. A good framerate it all well and good but if you can't see what is going on it makes it a bit moot. I'd only consider this on sale and just never play it in handheld mode if I ever did get it.
This game has been listed on the eshop as coming soon for ages and the release date moved so much I was starting to think it would never release. Saying that I actually like games like this even on consoles so I may give it a go when I have time as games like this usually suck me in for entire nights. Brings back memories of when I first got Sim City on my Snes and used to spend hours trying to fit just one more zone some where on the maps.
Were people really expected anything different seeing as EA hasn't even attempted to port their frostbite engine to be in anyway workable on switch? Also since Konami couldn't be bothered releasing PESon the system EA have literally had no competition and no incentive to try and make the game even close to anything more than the last gen games with an updated roster. Sports games sadly require the latest tech to stay relevant to most publishers.
@Rosona I respect you have a different opinion but it is not up to you what I find as being acceptable in a game. The problem most people have is they built up their expectations far too high in what they expected the games to be and focus too much on what they aren't than what they are. I am by no means saying they haven't made a lot of mistakes but then again I tend not to care so much that the game doesn't contain everything and actually thought it was was good they cut back on the number of Pokemon. Feature wise I was disappointed more so because of the GTS having to be accessed on a mobile app as opposed to in game. As for how the games look they could look far better and the animation could be better but honestly the vast majority or people haven't been all that bothered because they don't sit there fixated on why it doesn't look better.
@Fido007 his Donkey Kong records have long since been broken it is more they are restored to say he was the record holder at the time also this guy has built his whole existence on these records and I am not disagreeing with you that he should move on but this guy acts very self important because of these records and is very arrogant in any kind of documentaries that were done. This guy doesn't let things go and doesn't care about a target on his the back of his head as his method of proving he is right is threatening to sue people who expose him for more money than they can afford because he has it and they don't.
@koekiemonster I am not saying it couldn't look better and the let's go games do look cleaner overall but again they still don't look all that spectacular. There were also plenty of other gaming sites that aren't Nintendo specific that scored the games highly even with the lack of any huge criticism even though I agree there should be but more in terms of the lack of any challenge or much to do post game. Although the same thing can be said towards any gaming sites dedicated to one platform they always show bias towards exclusive it's not a new thing and has been a common thing since magazines were being published.
@koekiemonster well the gameplay has been a constant throughout the series and is now more focused on competitive play than a meaningful single player experience. Also no Pokemon game that has ever been released has ever been about the visuals they were always fairly basic on every generation and have never went to push the hardware they were on. Even the ones released on the Gamecube didn't really use models any better for the Pokemon than what the N64 had done. So why people were expecting them to go all out on changing that philosophy I don't know and were expecting too much.
@DonSerrot couldn't agree more as he seems like he is nothing except his past accomplishments and has hung onto it for far too long. Also his method of suing people who he has more money than as his proof that he is right and they aren't is just a sad state that people rely on money as their method of having done no wrong as opposed to the truth.
I do like how the whole area is essentially openworld which really going forward is how the next games should be as standard with towns and other areas being connected that way and the routes being apart of that same open world. The actually look of the island is also much better than the wild area as it all has some personality rather than just a large open field with slightly different looking sections. Also the Diglett searching has been a good little side quest as it opens up a lot of other forms to add to your collection, some are so well hidden though and it's a shame there is no other things like that to do on the island.
The daily items that are scattered throughout are also far better than in the wild are and have collected a fair few nature changing mints already. Did wish there was a few more things to do after the main quest is over which can last several hours if you really stretch it out and that was a few more Pokemon added and maybe one or two legendaries. But it is nice to explore a place that actually feels open world.
@MichaelHarvey because every new mainline pokemon game tends to be a first for a new generation of children but then there are plenty of games that have lasted over 20 years you could question what the appeal is since at their core they are still the same game. Just because you don't see the appeal though doesn't mean something shouldn't be a thing as I am sure there are plenty of things you like that others don't.
This is one of the worst aspects of any kind of mobile or tablet usage you are forced to upgrade after a few years unless you use it for the simplest of uses. Even one of my older Samsung tablets that I just use for reading books now recently stopped being compatible with Netflix. That is why I tend not to spend any money on any software for any mobile device incase it becomes incompatible because of an os update that the device I use doesn't support.
@COVIDberry every other comparable device? If you are referring to home computers then yes but no video game console has natively been able to make copies of their software at all so if you are claiming that then I don't see the comparison as the Switch nor another other video game console since their inception has had the ability to do that.
@WreckitRyan that was my first thought when I read the headline almost as if they forgot them on purpose because they weren't on the original Gameboy and in colour.
Seeing so many people making excuses for a company trying to protect piracy on their console as if they think people who buy these aren't buying the systems modded primarily for that feature. The few hobbyists that openly talk about owning them and use it only for feature that aren't available on the Switch are in the minority. I am sure if any of you made any kind of computer based product would want to do anything you could to stop people from stealing software on it. You my not like that Nintendo hasn't added the features you want but claiming people that are installing mod chips that enable piracy is doing no wrong shows the mind set of many.
As much as I loved this game back then and I still have my N64 copy which I played last year I will hold off on considering getting it until there is a price as I felt the two Turok games on Switch were overpriced and even more so when Doom 64 was released at a fraction of that. I know the games and assets are being ported to a new engine and textures are being upscale and everything but for me it doesn't add enough to warrant a higher price point. That is just me though.
Game is owned by the Fraiser group which is owned by Mike Ashley and the guy isn't exactly an ethical businessman. He is successful yes but by no means are the companies he owns going to not try and rip the consumer off. Like all of his Sports Direct stores you walk in and see all of these things on "sale" from brands that he owns himself. He if anything I'd well suited to owned a video game store as let's face it places like that have have had notoriously bad reputations for years since they essentially became the main high street option killing their competitors off by buying them. No different to what money bags Ashley does in business.
As much as I like seeing this and the wonder boy games getting these updates graphically I would much rather they were new games than just the older games like Streetsvof Rage 4 was.
Been reading up on some of the reviews of the mobile game of this that is currently available which this seems like it's a sequel of that but the game simply seems like it is even more simplified and easy compared to current Pokemon games so anyone expecting a game that is challenging will probably have to look elsewhere unless they massively change this version. Anyone thinking this will make future pokemon games any different as a result of it being released are expecting too much from what is just essentially a cheap mobile game being ported to home systems.
It's like we have went back in time 15 to 20 years and and all the pokemon clones are back in fashion but this even more than that Tem Tem game looks like just a pokemon rom hack with hires sprites.
Not all that surprising about the order since there is such a lack of depth to choose from still anyway and chances are you won't be seeing most of the big third party Japanese published titles on the service since Konami, Campcom and SquareEnix prefer to make money by selling them in digital compilations now that people have realised how much people are still interested in playing older games because they still have value and are new to a younger generation. I would honestly like to see more western developed games on the services as they often get completely overlooked on both the NES and SNES over Japanese developed ones despite being plenty of fantastic and unique ones.

That is why I tend not to spend any money on any software for any mobile device incase it becomes incompatible because of an os update that the device I use doesn't support.
Re: Nintendo Targets Switch Modchip Installation Service In Latest Legal Crackdown
@COVIDberry every other comparable device? If you are referring to home computers then yes but no video game console has natively been able to make copies of their software at all so if you are claiming that then I don't see the comparison as the Switch nor another other video game console since their inception has had the ability to do that.
Re: Timothy And The Mysterious Forest Looks Like The Zelda: Link's Awakening Sequel We Never Got
@WreckitRyan that was my first thought when I read the headline almost as if they forgot them on purpose because they weren't on the original Gameboy and in colour.
Re: Nintendo Targets Switch Modchip Installation Service In Latest Legal Crackdown
Re: Video: Here's Your First Look At The Shadow Man Remaster From Nightdive Studios
Re: UK Retailers Guilty Of Inflating Nintendo Switch Prices As Stock Remains Elusive
Re: First-Party Xbox Dev inXile Launches The Bard's Tale ARPG On Switch Next Week
@Scirocco7 just because something is ported to android doesn't make it an android game.
Re: Mario's One-Time Rival Alex Kidd Is Getting A Timely Revival
As much as I like seeing this and the wonder boy games getting these updates graphically I would much rather they were new games than just the older games like Streetsvof Rage 4 was.
Re: Pokémon-Like Nexomon: Extinction Reveals All Nine Starter Monsters
Been reading up on some of the reviews of the mobile game of this that is currently available which this seems like it's a sequel of that but the game simply seems like it is even more simplified and easy compared to current Pokemon games so anyone expecting a game that is challenging will probably have to look elsewhere unless they massively change this version. Anyone thinking this will make future pokemon games any different as a result of it being released are expecting too much from what is just essentially a cheap mobile game being ported to home systems.
Re: Pokémon-Like Nexomon: Extinction Reveals All Nine Starter Monsters
It's like we have went back in time 15 to 20 years and and all the pokemon clones are back in fashion but this even more than that Tem Tem game looks like just a pokemon rom hack with hires sprites.
Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Switch Online SNES Game Ranked
Not all that surprising about the order since there is such a lack of depth to choose from still anyway and chances are you won't be seeing most of the big third party Japanese published titles on the service since Konami, Campcom and SquareEnix prefer to make money by selling them in digital compilations now that people have realised how much people are still interested in playing older games because they still have value and are new to a younger generation. I would honestly like to see more western developed games on the services as they often get completely overlooked on both the NES and SNES over Japanese developed ones despite being plenty of fantastic and unique ones.
