There was a switch magazine? I'll be honest I wasn't even aware it was a thing until a read this but then I can't imagine there was much of a market in the modern day and making such small amounts must have actually made the production prices more expensive and less and less viable as time went on.
I considered ordering this on Switch due to the lack of any wrestling games in general and not only is this getting pretty average reviews due to it's lack of overall content and already outdated roster but for the switch version to also have a major performance issue kind of talked me out of even considering it. I will give it a few months but for a game that was last year reportedly going way over budget because they were spending way to much on adding some of the mini games you would have expected a little more content to be added to make up for it.
Wish the Twin Snakes was remastered for this version but I doubt they would go through all that effort to remaster it when if I would be correct they would only be able to release it on Switch since Nintendo funded it production when Silicon Knights developed it.
Going to be really interested to see how Arkham Knight runs on Switch. Also even if there is a physical release I doubt that would be on there and be download only.
Personally I would much prefer a remake in the HD-2D style for a game like Final Fantasy 6 so at least they can retain the sprite look but add voice acting. It would be quite a large undertaking to adapt it to 3D but no more so than making a new game.
I dabbled with things like actions replays on a few different systems but very rarely on games that I put countless hours into a save file like on a Pokemon game.
That being said I did use one on my N64 regularly on the WWF games from THQ as there were some pretty good ways to mod arenas and textures for outfits by swapping different ones around and even make new match types. Was a very time consuming process to say the least.
Like many people back in the UK in the 90s that didn't import games it was Final Fantasy 7 for me. I always seen jrpgs as some exotic thing we never got and when we did I could never find them in any stores near me because I didn't live in a city at the time so the places that we had only carried the more popular selections. So I do have fond memories of it and playing with my brother.
It's a bit of fun in the movie but this in no way should get nominated for an Oscar. I get the Oscars these days are considered a bit too much of a participation award event but this would just make it a joke.
I don't mind cloud gaming if they are part of something like gamepass or PlayStation plus but the way it's handled on the switch with individual games having to be purchased I am not a fan. I wasn't a fan of it with Stadia and OnLive before that. There is also no difference to buying and renting in this case as you lose access if and when the service is shut off.
Since I already own both the Gamecube and PS3 versions I can't actual say I am interested in this version because it adds literally nothing and having the name Remastered at the end suggests it has some kind of enhancements other than increased resolution over the original which it doesn't.
When something is called a remaster and doesn't actually enhance or add anything to give a better experience on newer hardware is it really a remaster? Seems like they just slapped it on the end to justify the price of a bare bones port. I am a huge fan of the game and glad that it is finally more accessible to a new audience but the price puts me off of getting it anytime soon physically.
While I thought the original game's voice dub was awful I would have still preferred it. I get there a lot of people who seem to think that only having Japanese voices in Japanese made games it the only way to go but I see that as an odd elitist thing and I like the English voices as it helps immerse me in the experience and I don't have to concentrate on subtitles when I could miss something in an action sequence. It's one of the same reasons I can't watch undubbed foreign action movies as I end up missing so much. Yes these games are heavy on just reading text but it would be still nice if the original English dubs were kept in as an option.
Classic? At the time it was considered underwhelming and too short and to this day that view hasn't really changed. I still have my original copy but can't say I have any lasting memories of it since I beat it once and there seemed like very little reason to go back. I expected much more after playing Yoshi's Island on the SNES as it was arguably my favourite platform game from that generation.
The biggest issue it has is it's simply too short and very little challenge outside of simply going back to collect stuff. It looks and sounds great for the time but nothing about it makes it a classic.
Not excited but not against it even if it's just mainly the campaigns from most of the old games sold at a lower price as some of them can be pretty fun for one or two plays. The Multiplayer doesn't interest me but I get why having it is a good thing especially Warzone. More software is definitely not a bad thing.
As long as it's not cloud versions. I would also not be against getting all of the older games ported even if it was just the campaigns and at a lower price. I get people don't like the games because the mass market likes them and as a result think they must hate them, but I tend to enjoy the campaigns and if they were added and a version of Warzone I can't see an issue with that too much.
@Bucky I think no version on the Switch has more to do with Activision not wanting to put the resources into making Switch ports as it has proven quite a feat for many getting games optimised for it.
It's really a first when Pokemon games are actually too technically ambitious for the hardware they run on. Sure there was some issues on the 3DS games in battles where there were 3 or more on screen but now the games are trying to outdo the hardware they are on.
It's quite odd seeing as the games started off always being more functional visually than anything and never aimed to push the hardware and now they push the hardware a bit too much at the same time as not looking spectacular. Saying that I am still getting a copy because I'll still get enjoyment out of coming across the new Pokemon for the first time.
Well if you are going to watch others play the game in videos then be shocked it has spoilers then I'm not sure what you were expecting from the videos to begin with.
@nocdaes perhaps it is more cost effective but depending on who translates a game they are potentially giving up that time in many unpaid man hours and if an English version would be available to be dumped they can work on translating something doesn't have that option.
Not sure why come people were expecting loads of third party published games on this collection as it probably would have cost more than this collection is probably going to make in sales to acquire many of those rights. Although that Jaguar list of games will probably sell more this way than the ever did on the actual hardware.
I would love more older N64 games to have higher framerates not even 60 just as long as they weren't dropping so low and were closer to 30 as I get these emulators can take up a lot of resources quickly it would certainly make going back to some games more bearable.
It would be nice if Pokemon Home featured a few specific boxes to be able to act as storage for these games in future With obvious restrictions on what moves and Pokemon can be put in them. Although some of the rentals in the games had good movests if you didn't necessarily go for the most powerful ones in terms of stats. You can quite easily beat the games using the right strategies and teams.
Billy Mitchell and something going to court? This is a first... I'm pretty sure this guy would sue the postman if he happened to get a paper cut opening a letter.
A lot of comments from single adult men talking about how they would never want to have children because they don't want them touching their precious game consoles... I am going out on a limb and saying that acting like children yourself is probably part of the reason some of you will never have children and not because you claim to choose it. Children will naturally be children and will do things like this out of their own curiosity. No need to get angry towards either the parent or the child as you can't predict everything they will do.
@Axecon In what way? They have made two Donkey Kong Country games since that were well received and have been handed back Metroid Prime after BandaiNamco worked on it for years and got nowhere with the project. I think Retro themselves wanted something different after the third Prime game and didn't just want to be working on one game series all the time.
With each entry getting bigger and bigger and adding more content than the last even with more people working on the games it is still going to take longer and longer to make new games. There is also the overwhelming expectation to make the next game feel grander than the last. We will be lucky if we get one a decade for certain games series at one point. Just look at how long GTA6 has been in development as an example.
This must be one of these cheats that never got sent around the magazines back in the day. Usually that was the only way they would get released is if the publishers made them public. There have been many instances where they remained hidden simply because they were never sent out during the launch period of a game and simply forgotten about. I kind of miss the days that games contained cheats or codes that unlocked hidden modes or features and coming across them years later in a magazines that reprinted them giving you a reason to boot a game back up you may have had sitting on your shelf for ages.
I stopped buying anything from GAME when Mike Ashley brought it and my local one got crammed into the corner upstairs in the Sports Direct making it feel like an after thought. It's more because of my opinion on his business practices.
@GravyThief because last time they were buying so many they were dumping the vast majority of the food in bins outside the places. which is just wasteful regardless of what food it is.
I'd love not only a new Baten Kaitos games but full remasters of the first too as the would need it for me as the speech was awful and sounded muffled and hollow. I'd like an F-Zero game like most but I don't really think I would play it at this point just because I haven't really been into any racing games since the N64 era and even by the time the Gamecube came out I sort of stopped playing them. I am all for people being able to make requests like that directly to any major publisher though as they often forget some games after time and don't realise they have such a cult following.
@mariomaster96 the same ones that have been claiming it for a few years too because they have that first hand knowledge that they will continue to repeat until they are right.
While it can be fun with a group of others it can be just as fun on your own if you like exploring. I played it in the early days and it was certainly a bare bones experience, now though there is so much to see and do it could be perfect for playing while travelling as long as the performance isn't too bad that what everyone is wondering as the early build may have run really well on the base PS4 at the time but the latest one has massive drops at times and if it's close to that in overall performance I'll be pleasantly surprised.
From one or two people I have seen talk about it that have played it they have said it lacks an identity of its own and tries to be too much like your standard open world game. Still not sold on Sonic in an open world where you have to essentially slow down to explore areas since Sonic's whole thing is constantly moving fast. It's definitely an underwhelming reveal of it. Telling the people who will buy your games that they don't understand it is basically asking for it to fail. If you haven't done enough to explain it to them then it isn't their fault it's yours. It doesn't really help how vague they are about it being different to games that have come before and leaving it there. From what I can tell on between zones its basically wide empty fields just put there so Sonic can run fast as currently serves no other purpose outside of that.
