Re: Feature: A Summary of Nintendo's Key Announcements on NX, E3 and Mobile

@Yorumi I can see that. My concern is more than perhaps none of their games are ready for the holidays. Makes 3rd-party support all the more crucial this time around to have that steady stream they need.

I'd like to be optimistic, but I'm struggling to be right now. I think I'll be playing on my other systems more later in the year based on forthcoming releases (that don't interest me a ton).

Oof. I have to think that delaying the console has more to do with software than hardware. They cannot afford another threadbare launch window.

I think this generation, all the way around, is the best advertisement for not just buying in to one company's products. I'm glad I have each of the three consoles (and both handhelds) this generation, and I know I'm fortunate to be able to do that. But while Nintendo's E3 isn't looking promising from this perspective at this moment, I'm still excited for a new Forza game coming (please be Horizon 3), plus Persona 5 and some other goodies.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

I love the original Star Fox, but this is retelling the same story a third time. That's why I'm not onboard, along with the out-of-cockpit bits that were tedious to me in Assault. I loved Adventures, but that was fine as a one-off. The problem for me is the series basically is a retread where there's plenty of story they could explore. They just don't, instead treating it as a test bed. That's why I'm skipping it: not because of Gamepad controls.

Re: Talking Point: Sony's PlayStation VR Launch Adds Pressure to Nintendo's Holiday - and Perhaps NX - Plans

Like @luigifan624 said, I'm not confident that Sony has the attention span to support the thing if it faces any kind of adversity.

I'm also still not seeing VR as being the dominating force that certain quarters are hyping it as. It economically stratifies at the moment, and that will be a hindrance to it having the immediate mass market effect predicted. The technology certainly has a future, but I hope Nintendo waits and sees and does not have a Gunpei Yokoi philosophy about their possible approach (which would probably be a non-backlit GBA with a headband).

Re: Soapbox: It's too Early to Judge Paper Mario: Color Splash

I hear many cries of giving games a chance - we heard the same with Codename STEAM, which held no interest for me. It's simple: we can't be expected to give every game a chance with the plethora of choices out there. That makes it very easy for perception to become reality.

I'll be skipping this one.

Re: Here's Why SNES VC Games Can Only be Played on a New 3DS

Vineleaf

Accurate emulation is very resource hungry, and Nintendo tend to be sticklers for details like that. The GBA ambassador games were running differently, without pause options and the like.

As much as it would make sense from a marketing perspective to push the newer hardware some way, I'd have to think they would have made way more money simply having the VC on the original 3DS years ago. The fact that they didn't has always implied to me that they weren't able to emulate to their satisfaction.

Though it occurs to me that Starfox 2 would be a nice little way to make some $$$...

Re: A Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Is On the Way

A shame I have a meeting during that time; this whole living in the Pacific time zone is kinda new to me. I'd like a bit more on SMTxFE. I'm good on everything else for now. Trackmania Turbo will get a lot of my gaming time at the end of the month and Fates will give me many hours of fun (sincere apologies, Europe).
