Famitsu has just revealed that Nintendo costumes will be included in the forthcoming Story of Seasons: Good Friends of Three Villages.
The sequel - which hits Japan on June 23rd - is confirmed to contain Mario and Peach, and the preview in Famitsu suggests that Luigi and Toad outfits may also be available.
The previous Story of Seasons had Nintendo-themed crops - such as Fire Flowers and Super Stars - so it's nice to see this sense of collaboration is continuing.
There's no word on a western release of the game as yet, although the original Story of Seasons managed to make the leap to western shores.

the Mario one looks odd, like all Mario costumes should lol
Peach one looks pretty cool
In what I'm sure they are dreading, I can't look at a new Harvest Moon game without seeing how staid it is compared to Stardew Valley and how little they are doing to stir things up. Playing as Mario and Peach seems so tepid and done than the new things you can do in Stardew Valley :-/ Feels weird to be jump shippy on a series I've liked for so long.
@boatie
Do bear in mind that Stardew Valley took a single person 4 years to make, and has continued support.
Your usual video game development cycle is much shorter and has deadlines to meet, indie developers are usually beholden to themselves only.
Won't be getting this game. I didn't really like the first Story of Season. I was one of the few or maybe the only who preferred Lost Valley over this
@RupeeClock And yet, one is clearly better than the other at least in this instance
@boatie Not arguing that, the Story of Seasons titles have deadlines and commitments which limit ambitions, plus they're developed for handhelds or home consoles rather than PC.
@Tops Too many people have said it better for me to add anything, but check out your favorite site for a review, it's basically the best Harvest Moon game since Friends of Mineral Town and maybe ever
@Pokefanmum82 I haven't tried Lost Valley, but I agree with you on Story of Seasons. Personally I haven't been impressed with the series since HM: Animal Parade.
@boatie I agree, it's going to be hard to go back to Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons after playing Stardew Valley. Almost every staple of this series is improved upon in Stardew and the charm of the graphics/gameplay is something Harvest Moon hasn't achieved for years IMO.
It definitely feels weird jumping ship on one of my favourite series but I think it's time they upped the ante, seeing as one guy created a better game by himself (regardless if it took him 4 years).
If you're a HM/SoS fan and you haven't checked out Stardew, do yourself a favour and just get it.
Oh dear Lord, wasn't the crops enough?
That reminds me I still have to get the first SoS. I might just wait for this instead. I'll have to check a wiki and see which game has the better supporting cast, as that is usually what makes or breaks a game like this for me.
"I'll save the princess, after I tend to the crops"
I really enjoyed Story of Seasons except the forced time walls which gave the game a more fake longevity. If they removed, or even reduced that, I may get it. The item Hoarding was very bad too. As much as I enjoyed it, those two things kind of killed it a little for me and I am not sure if I'll get the next one if those are not improved. Then again... I've been addicted to Stardew Valley which in my opinion... is quite superior to Story of Seasons at the moment.
@boatie I really hope that game comes to 3DS. I know the developer said he is open to consoles but nothing is confirmed.
I did pick up Fantasy Life since it's pretty much in the same genre and am loving it so far.
@boatie I want a 3DS port of stardew to see what the hype is about.
Anyways they really need to increase the variety of dialogue like on Rune Factory 4. Hundreds of days in and you still see new dialogue.
...I just want the shipping box back......
I skipped story of seasons cause it seemed too much like New Beginnings, but I want to give this one a shot.
@ikki5 can you kinds of explain those problems? I have not played it so I want to know before i jump into the next one.
I do hope they keep the crops. I can't find a famitsu scan that is legible to check however. sigh
I've never even heard of Stardew Valley. I'll have to check it out.
@thehoppypoppy People all over Steam have been picking up Stardew Valley after a few YouTubers shared their views on this recently released indie title.
"The first game seemed to be underwhelming. What should we do?"
"Do what everyone does: cram in costumes for Mario and friends."
@crzysortagamer
Well, with Story of season, you have an entire wardrobe of stuff to make and it is very specific items you need to collect and hoard, some you cannot get until years into the game just to make a certain outfit or whatever. Pretty much anything and everything requires you to get multiple items so your inventory gets very full with so many different items. You get these vendors that set up where you can sell your stuff or buy it and two of them you need to ship so much crap that you'll be well into year two if you know what you're doing. One of the bachelorettes, you cannot marry her until year two. It is stuff like that.
Now, the game is still fun, it is just the simulated longevity and this hoarding of items to make clothes, cook, buildings, etc. It just takes so long which gets frustrating some times.
Well all the talk about Stardew has made me decide to take a look. Not feeling the step back to retro, but they are indie so I understand. The fact that there is same sex marriage (so I can stop playing as a male) will likely get me to give it a try. One day, one day Story of Seasons will get there...I believe, I have to.
It would be nice if xseed would confirm a Western release but they're probably saving that for E3. Screw Stardew Valley, we don't need gay marriage in a farm simulation game to make it acceptable. There are many other forms of media that offer entertainment for the gay community. Let's just leave good ol' Harvest Moon alone.
@ikki5 ah i understand, yeah NB was a little like that and I hated that part, it felt so long and the rewarding system seemed slow...
@capitalism
No one is saying that is why the game is better.... people just enjoy the game for what it is... in fact I don't see anyone mention this but you.
@ikki5
The person who commented right before me literally said that was the reason they wanted to try it out. I've also seen it brought up on two other sites. Sick of a vocal minority complaining about gay marriage in a farm simulation game. Get over it.
@capitalism hmm, I must have missed it when I did the search. lol
But still, who cares? You're going to boycott a game and call a game crappy because it supports it? Dang, I forgot that more options = bad even more so when it doesn't force you in a single player (for now) game.
Nintendo should help XSeed advertise the next game in the west. Maybe make a commercial that goes like "We've had many stories of seasons..." as they show footage of the old..."Story of Seasons" (harvest moon). They don't own the name, but they sure as hell own the games.
