Fire Emblem Fates is now close to its European release, which is great news for fans of the franchise that are ready for a lot of strategy RPG action. Unfortunately the rather handsome Special Edition appears to have some stock issues in the UK, with some seeing their pre-order cancelled rather late in the day.
The special edition includes both the main campaigns and the downloadable 'Revelation' content on one cartridge (as shown in the image above), along with a steelbook case, poster and artbook. The special edition sold out rapidly in the UK, first at GAME and then on the Official Nintendo UK Store. However those that were late booking one on the official store have now been told, over a month after placing their orders, that they won't be available. The Nintendo store is trying to make amends, however, offering affected customers a special bundle that includes all of the game content in a different form (two as downloads), along with a t-shirt and 3DS HOME Theme. Affected customers are also getting a £5 discount voucher.
The details are below (via Reddit):
Dear ********,
Thank you for placing order ******** with us.
We are sorry to inform you that we have had to cancel Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition from your order as the item in question is no longer available.
This product sold out on the 1st of April, but due to a technical error was showing on our store again a few days later. Having placed your order during this second period, we are unable to fulfill your order.
We sincerely apologise for the disappointment this may cause and would like to offer you £5 off your next order as a gesture of goodwill.
As an alternative, for the same price as Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition we are happy to offer you a new bundle that includes:
- Fire Emblem Fates Birthright (packaged version)
- Fire Emblem Fates Conquest (downloadable content)
- Fire Emblem Fates Revelation (downloadable content)
- Fire Emblem Fates T-Shirt
- FREE pre-order only Fire Emblem Fates Home Menu Theme
You are also able to use your £5 discount when pre-ordering this bundle.
One commenter has mentioned that they also had their order with GAME cancelled for stock issues. This isn't the first time that limited editions have been on store websites a little too long, with orders taken after the stock has been claimed. In the case of the Nintendo store, at least, it's trying to ensure affected customers still get all of the game content and some extras at a discount, even if it may not have the same allure as the special edition.
Have you been affected by this? Let us know in the comments.

well i might get the bundle instead then!
Uh oh...just like the Amiibo controversy...
Looks like my preorder is fine, but depending on how stuff goes, mine ~may~ end up being cancelled (or, near enough), too...
For some reason, they don't allow a change of payment details (so, for someone who's ended up needing a replacement card... Hopefully they'll let me use my new card if/when the charge to the old one fails.)
Still, at least they're offering up a separate/alternate bundle, for people whose main draw was having the three games together.
And once again Nintendo's (intentional?) stock shortage rears its ugly head. Being a Game/Nintendo UK store exclusive certainly doesn't help!
Why am I not surprised that GAME is in the middle of this?
@Noelemahc
This one's not ~just~ GAME, the email up there/main part of article is about the Nintendo UK Official Store (which is done by The Hut/Zavvi), the GAME comment is just a tiny part of it.
It looks like I'm safe, or are emails still being sent? :/
3in1 game catridge
@Noelemahc It's the official Nintendo store doing this.
I'm terrified! I hate Game for various reasons - if they cancel my Pre-order - I'll hate them even more! ( And I'm a positive person!)
Like I said a couple of weeks ago - nintendo absolutely knew what they were doing - they havent learnt anything. Is it so hard for them to print some more copies - especially because of their faulty system. I am very curious what the prices will be after lucky buyers get their copies and start scalping people off. Thank you nintendo! Well done!
Happened to me with my limited edition preorder at my local Gamestop getting canceled and i had to revert to a regular edition of Birthright and preordered Conquest as well so i only have to download Revelations.
Well that REALLY SUCKS BALLS! No offence to Nintendo, but that "alternative" bundle is bananas in comparison.... I feel sorry for those who miss out. Why can't Nintendo just make more copies! It's not like they are going to lose money by producing more. Even if they make over the amount of pre-orders, they will sell out quickly in stores anyways... I missed my chance for the SE here in Canada, and I DO NOT plan to buy the other version and/or get the digital content, I'll find a new copy someday or I'll get it used. I would much rather give Nintendo my money but they haven't given me much choice, I'll have to go used if I can't find one new.

I'm glad I didn't want Fire Emblem Fates, but this really sucks for those affected. Since the special edition is the only way to get a physical copy of all three games, they really should have made more stock so it doesn't get cancelled or sell out in a few minutes.
This appears to be a technical rather than a stock error as it only affects people who ordered after it sold out originally when there was no stock to order from. I do think Nintendo need to open these pre-orders way in advance and then produce as many as ordered. Would be better for consumers and Nintendo.
Oh boy. Same thing was happening over here in the US. Ordered getting cancelled, stores selling out in mere seconds. It was awful. Good luck you guys! I hope nobody here gets there order cancelled.
@Andrzej777 They probably only made a couple thousand (maybe only hundreds) copies. After delaying the game for several months, they STILL mess up the EU launch somehow. How does Nintendo keep doing this?!
Mine was also cancelled (webhallen) a few weeks ago.
Reminds me of the GameStop and Best Buy preorders being canceled. Stay turned, though- Let's see if GAME proceeds to sell new copies through eBay after canceled preorders for the special edition, while marking it up, like Best Buy did...
And yes, this is an indication that Nintendo has no clue what they're doing when it comes to special editions. I didn't even bother to buy the game new, after that. I'm just going to wait to buy one of the paths used from a local store instead of a big chain. Not rewarding Nintendo for this poorly planned out fiasco.
That's why I have several pre-orders. I got sick of pre-orders getting canceled or moved back.
tbh they treated the affected pretty damn nicely. It is way too often SE pre orders get canceled and those affected get bananas and just their money back.
@Favna: Please watch your language - Octane
Ordered mine with Game then Nintendo store. For some reason i couldn't cancel the Game order but luckily a friend of mine wanted it so i've kept it for them instead of them trying to find one at scalper prices. Not too worried about the Nintendo order as i had the xl bundle but the Game one i'm really worried about as i don't want to let my friend down. Please get this right Game. Please do not let me down last minute.....
@Enigk The problem is, individual stores keep being allowed to take preorders after the system has run out of copies, and Nintendo isn't informing the retail stores enough about available inventory, much less producing the inventory in adequate numbers to meet demand. It's definitely a stock issue, as well as a technical issue.
Happy Mother's Day?
Why do people still use GAME? They mess up so often. Please UK people use either graingergames or thegamecollection and help the smaller guys.
GAME be all like, "Pre-orders? I make my own fate!"
@Dezzy
But, this article isn't focusing on GAME, it's about the Nintendo UK Official Store (also, as far as I'm aware, neither of those two stores got the FE:Fates SE, right?)
Preordered from both GAME and Ninty UK so at least I have a backup unless I have a double bad luck bout (touch wood).
Also producing another batch is not as easy as it sounds especially for limited editions. They'd have to put orders in with the manufacturers of the art books, boxes, etc and usually they have to do this a while in advance. Then it depends if the demand warrants a large enough order to make production economically viable. I've seen many AAA Games' special editions end up for like £20-£30 just to shift them due to being unsold. Usually however this doesn't negatively impact the publisher as they sell enough standard copies to turn a profit.
That is a bummer for the guys who missed out after they have pre-order the game but Nintendo knows how popular FE is and should have over stocked everywhere, I'll have too get the individual ones now or download instead.
I mean it's all well and good doubling up on pre-orders in case this sort of thing occurs, but if everybody had that same mentality, there just ends up being half as many pre-orders available to people, which then makes it harder for people to obtain these special editions before release.
Again?
Not really surprising, Nintendo can't seem to get much right anymore.
That really sucks, I would certainly be extremely pissed if that happened to me, considering it's the only way to get the entire game on physical format. And scalper prices just are not fun.
"Lol" at the new bundle which only offers downloadable versions of two of the campaigns and a T-shirt (they could have at least included a physical copy of Conquest as well). I'm not even going to bother attributing any value to the Home menu theme. So no nice box, no 3-in-1 cartridge, no steelbook, no artbook, no double-sided poster, but hey, they're still happy to charge you the same amount for a gypped bundle. Where do we sign?
Why they limit the number of special editions they print is crazy.
@Mr_Zurkon to make it special, limited edition...?
Square Enix:
"Hey guys, our limited edition for FFXV sold out."
"Weren't we only making like 30,000 of them?"
"They're willing to pay $250 for it and get it after release"
"REPRINT!"
Nintendo:
"Hey guys our limited edition of Fire Emblem Fates sold out."
"..."
"..."
"..."
Dear Nintendo, how about releasing that Special Edition game (you can keep the other stuff to make the collectors happy) and then I'll buy it?
@Bisylizzie You might want to get on to their customer support about that quickly!
I had an issue with my Triforce Heroes pre-order where I was paying by PayPal and for some reason even though I had the money in my account and all the details were correct it failed to go through. When I contacted customer support to try and get it put through again or change it to my card they said I couldn't, I had to cancel the failed pre-order myself and place the order again. Otherwise it was just going to sit in my account as a failed order I guess.
Thankfully it wasn't a special edition it was just a free t-shirt deal and it was still in stock. That's not going to happen here though :/
Hopefully their customer support will have some tools to change your card details before it tries to go through.
@Bisylizzie
It says GAME at the bottom.
Et tu, Nintendo UK?
They sold out of pre orders with in 1.30 hours I did not get a look in. I bet they held some back to be sold with 3ds consoles and prices are sky high for a copy.
But I recon they will restock on launch day.
@MJKOP it's a video game, not a Van Gogh. Make as many as people want to buy.
@Mr_Zurkon Consumer perception of scarcity and "uniqueness" creates urgency and thereby increases demand and sales, even of non-bundle versions. The psychological effect of purchasing a special edition creates consumer competitiveness; the special nature of the bundle endows the purchaser with "specialness". It's essentially little more than a martketing ploy to print special editions in limited quantities. It might seem like a service to fans, but it really is all about maximising profitability.
More shortages AGAIN?! Jesus Nintendo is INSANE making the same mistakes over and over and not learning a damn thing.
@Sakura I get that and it is true until things like this happen then all it does is breed consumer discontent and ill-will. A good example is what Occulus is doing, they haven't fulfilled all the preorders yet they will sell some units at select Best Buy locations. It's bad PR and customer service.
@Dezzy It's both GAME and Official Nintendo UK store. In fact just assume that if you preordered the special edition anywhere then your preorder is in danger.
Hope no one here had their order cancelled. I remember BestBuy canceling my Majoras Mask New 3DS. They offered me $50 for the hassle though. Which was an insane compensation.
@Ogbert
Already asked!
They said...
"With regards to your query, regrettably cannot action any changes to your order, as we are unable to do so, once it has been placed on our Online Store.
We can confirm that your order is currently still being processed by our team and that any payments on your order, will not be taken until your order is dispatched.
However, we offer to you, the following options:
1) You can leave your order as it is and wait for payment to be taken from the current card details you have input. However, your order may be delayed if the payment does not clear. We will of course contact you in the event that this happens, so that you can resolve any payment problems to enable us to proceed with your order
2) Cancel your order and place it again through our Online Store, ensuring that you have input the correct information (such as the delivery address and card details), selected the correct item(s) or chosen payment method before completing your order
Please also note, that any products, offers, discounts or promotions may not be available should your order be cancelled. Therefore, we highly recommend for you to review your order before proceeding with any cancellation, as upon this request being processed, we would be unable to re-instate it."
There was also a bit about how they can't change payment details if you used Paypal, but I didn't choose that method, so left it out...
I'm had assumed, though, from the first point, I ~may~ be able to choose a new card if the payment fails... But, taking a moment to think about it now, maybe I ~am~ gonna be out of luck with it... Which'd be a shame, especially after managing to catch their preorder...
Keep white knighting Nintendo, it will do good for everyone
Like justifying the extremely limited FE edition, to the point some retailers had 30 copies if they were lucky to even sell it.
Collector's Editions keep collecting dust at retail in many cases, because they print crazy amount of it.
What blind Nintendo fanbois do not see in situation like this (a game being made ebay exclusive like FE) is that there can be meeting the demand and having things being collector's/special if they want to feel like that one special snowflake, like with Witcher 3 CE, which had around 4k copies per country per platform (so 12k) and it showed that it still wasn't enough, so anyone wanting to feel like special snowflake can be one ("special edition" argument people).
Wow- that is harsh indeed - i am keeping an eye on my emails just in case i am one of the affected. You would have thought by now that nintendo stock control have learnt by their mistakes...clearly not
Two downloads must be a lot of space, doesn't seem like a good way to make up for it.
between Game and Nintendo Store, buying this game is a freaking crapshoot!
I wish Nintendo had partnered with somebody competent.
@Mr_Zurkon The theory is, I think, that the few people who are irked at missing out on one occassion are insignificant to the financial gains made. It's not only that the current product sells out, but also that consumers remember that and so purchasing the next special/limited edition product is all the more urgent because of past experiences of missing out. It might seem like bad PR, but creating that urgency does pay off. Nintendo can weather any PR storm because their products are generally desirable. As long as it works for them, they will continue to do the same. In one sense Nintendo is learning; they are learning that their strategy works time and again. What is particularly bad is the poor control of limited stock. There isn't really an excuse for selling items which don't exist. It's all done by computer and that should be easy enough to fix.
Personally, I do find the whole thing a bit distasteful as it's really just manipulation, but that's capitalism; in order to have a free market, people have to be free to manipulate it.
I couldn't even get a copy because of the horrible stock, but hopefully I'll take advantage of the new bundle because it saves me a whole £6 (wow I know right?!), I get a free shirt and theme and I just want the game, sure I'm super salty over not getting the SE (my words may seem calm but I'm dying and mad on the inside) but at the end of the day I just want to play Fates. Also it seems like with this bundle you get revelations early? I'm not sure if I'm right or not but if so then that's really nice.
I cancelled my own GAME pre-order as I would much prefer to pay £69.99 for my Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition in comparison to £489.93 for the same thing at GAME.co.uk.
Surely it would be REALLY easy to type a number in a box to specify a quantity at the beginning and then just click save to put the changes into effect.
This bundle seems good, but it is not really, without sounding horrible, a really viable replacement for a physical version of all the Fire Emblem Fates games...
I would rather stick with my cartridge edition along with the poster, steel book and art book as well as the commemorative Fire Emblem Family Crest Coin that I should receive.
@Dezzy Grainger Games are ok, but they took ages to get my two Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo to me. Almost a week later in fact...
I wasn't happy whatsoever... I have never had any amiibo later than the release date before... It was worse because that was my very first order from them and first impressions say a lot...
Unless you can convince me otherwise? =)
@zool The only mistake that Nintendo made with me is telling me that they were cancelling one of my pre-orders there when there was no One Per Customer disclaimer and in the fact that I had taken a screenshot of it not having the disclaimer on the same day that I pre-ordered them.
So I cancelled BOTH pre-orders as I weren't giving them cash for one copy of the game...
@Dakt I totally agree... This edition cannot compare to the first bundle with the physical version of everything.
@DoctorOverbuild I am REALLY surprised that you have yet to post on this topic... Normally you are quicker than this... lol
ALSO... See if you can see my Chara Easter Egg in this long post. There is a reference to Chara Dreemurr somewhere...
@Jolt This bundle is no where near as special as the actual Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition and does not even come with the commemorative Fire Emblem Family Crest Coin...
@Ogbert People will be lucky if they don't get a scripted copy and paste reply if they contact Nintendo Customer Support.
I feel sorry for Europe.
@Alundra-1998 I know, but what else is there now? This is pretty much it...
@BRAINFOX
What is your point exactly? That Squeenix is willing to break what it means to be limited edition in order to make more money, and Nintendo is dumb for not doing this? Or Nintendo is honoring what it means to have a release be "limited edition" and if you don't get it quick enough, it's gone.
I suspect much of the demand (as it was for me) was the cartridge with everything on it. The rest is a nice bonus, but making that all-in-one cartridge available more would alleviate a lot of this issue.
@Vineleaf pretty much it, if they made even just Birthright + Conquest a one cartridge affair it wouldn't be as bad. Also, knowing that if anything happens to my SD card and I haven't backed up or anything, I'll lose my Conquest and Revelations data sucks :/
@Jolt True, true...
@RoomB31 I totally agree. Why bother having special editions if Squeenix (Love that name! XD) break the immersion...
@Sakura I agree. I have even managed to secure a pre-order for the Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Fortissimo Edition alongside my Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition.
@Vineleaf Nintendo aren't going to do a silly thing like make it available ever again... If they did that... They might as well just call it the Fire Emblem Fates - boring Standard Edition...
@xVAKAR1ANx It actually doesn't take up too much space if you have a physical cart of Birthright or Conquest. The biggest download is an initial download of Birthright or Conquest w/o a cart (about 15800 blocks which is a little under 2 gb). And since the other paths mostly have different cutscenes and map layouts while reusing the engine, models, etc, it's a lot smaller downloading the other games if you already have one (Conquest and Revelation each took about 850 blocks as add ons for my physical copy of Birthright)
@bouncer0304 I SO wish I was in your position right now...
Having two copies of this item would have been EXCELLENT as I would have been able to open one copy and actually play it.
But alas... I have one copy and it will NEVER... be... opened... EVER... due to me being a collector. (cries)
@bouncer0304 GAME will get this right. But they may charge you £489.93 instead of £69.99.
@Lunarsickness I bet nothing will have changed about manipulated stock shortage come NX time. Because Nintendo!
@PlywoodStick I was just commenting on the particular instance of the article. Game overselling via their stores implies a poor shared inventory across the store network if they were even meant to sell through the stores that is after they sold out rapidly online.
Never got a chance to preorder it at all sadly.
I stop pre-ordering things a long time ago, I found out that all the extra junks that came with it just ain't worth it. Sad to those who did pre-order it though.
@retro_player_22 I don't know... This will be my second Nintendo commemorative coin in my collection.
I managed to get the Goodbye Club Nintendo coin as well.
If it wasnt bad enough trying to collect the older games in the franchise...
HAHA! I screwed up big time. I had a Game order but cancelled it when I thought I got the Nintendo "second wave" order. Now that got cancelled. Shame, but it's a game, so I will get over it and no scalper is gonna temp me. I'm gonna spend my pre-order money on something nice for myself now to soften the blow.
@Bsham Oh myyyy That is incredibly tragic...
Yeah I don't like scalpers either...
Like Nintendo cares about cancelled UK orders...
@RoomB31 A bit of both because Nintendo of Japan actually did it due to fan demand and it led to more sales while everyone out in the west was left to scramble for them. There is no excuse for this to be happening when even Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bravely Default, and TMS had more stock put up for people that wanted their LEs.
@Mr_Zurkon I agree with you, but people like their limited, special editions, so they have to be just that, limited. I'd imagine it's hard getting the quantities just right, for any given title, but Nintendo seem to do it in extremely limited quantities, as they usually sell out in an instant.
@MJKOP I managed to pre-order this as well as a copy of the Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Fortissimo Edition without issue.
@Andrzej777 I won't be scalping it off. I will be too busy being totally devastated that I cannot actually open and play it due to being a collector...
@Bisylizzie Ah ok, hopefully you'll be able to change it once it fails on your old card. Sounds like it's different for PayPal payments where option 2 was apparently the only option. Such a ridiculous system! Any other store would gladly edit the order to ensure a sale.
Hope you manage to get your special edition!
@Ogbert Um... If only it actually WORKED like that...
You get literally ONE chance with Nintendo UK Official Store if the item in question has completely sold out...
@BRAINFOX I often wonder if it is that Nintendo do limited runs in less quantities or simply Nintendo has more demand for thier limited runs?
I'm lucky in that I have a lot of friends into video games who regularly buy games at launch or pre-order and 3-4 of us will reliably get the Nintendo special editions (or at least try!) whilst it's very rare I see a special edition for another platform. Perhaps Nintendo make the same amount as everyone else they just have a higher percentage of their player base wanting them?
It would be interesting to see numbers. I doubt they'd ever divulge them though.
@Ogbert @Alundra-1998 I feel like them making less has to be the reason. I know a lot of people try scalping and all that, but even then, these LEs run out absurdly fast. The only other times I've seen one run out near instantly was the MGSV one with the little hand and the FFXV Ultimate Edition that I mentioned in my other comment.
I figured I should ask a general question regarding the new bundle in Europe. Is the Special edition more than just buying the 3 games separately at the Europeon msrp? If it is, like the US special edition was, I don't see much of a reason to flip about the price since having all 3 games would come out to be the same again, and looks like you guys would get it all for 5 pounds less. That was the logic I took with not being able to get the SE of Fates in the US
It's a sad state of affairs for those affected.
I only want the SE because I want a physical edition of the 3 games; I like to replay my titles over time, like rewatching good films, and if the online goes down for the 3DS sometime in the future I'd be worried that I couldn't get the third version of the game back again if something happened to my system and I lost it.
I ordered mine from Game, hope they don't cancel it ! it's my most wanted game for the year.
I couldn't even order the special edition ...
@Zadaris
Same with me! This is actually the main reason why nintendo screwed up big in my eyes. If they had released all three games physically I wouldnt have even bothered getting the special edition. Other than that its just plain weak.
I'm hoping this won't be the same scenario in Australia — I was late to the punch pre-ordering in store, so I did an online order instead.
My own fault if I miss out, but still, sorry to hear this is a thing that's happened to others.
I've not had the email thank goodness. I guess there's still time. I placed my order on 1st April though, so hopefully I should be OK.
I'm in North America and never bothered ordering the special edition. However, I do remember when people's preorders started getting cancelled. Unfortunately, the situation seems to be the exact same scenario in Europe and I knew it would because Nintendo never changes. Regardless of the claimed snafu with GAME's computer system, I honestly believe Nintendo creates a unicorn supply of special edition anything on purpose - I really do. There's simply too much of this same situation littered all throughout Nintendo's history for it to not be true. There's absolutely no reason why Fire Emblem - which is now one of Nintendo's top franchises outside Japan - should have such an extremely limited supply of these for eager fans. Truly a mess.
It's not Nintendo's fault. Blame the scalpers. If Nintendo produced once for every player who wanted one, the scalpers would still get in first. But up all the stock, and resell at a higher price because of denying copies to genuine fans. If Nintendo produced more and more copies to combat this, they wouldn't be able to fairly finance a game....
Does anyone know if it's only the special edition on it's own that is being chopped. Or is there the Amiibo bundles aswell?
Wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo only drop some of the non Amiibo version at they make more from shipping Amiibos that people may already have.
Ugh...I managed to place a pre-order with Gamestop in Ireland. Now I'm worried!
@Alundra-1998 nice one, good for you 👍
I went through hell to get my Special Edition (the american one), I would do everything again!
I have heard from someone on Facebook that they only made 500 of the Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition in Europe.
@Bisylizzie I had the same card replacement problem last year just before the release of 'Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water'.
As soon as the Nintendo site is ready to charge your card it will notice a problem and then send you an automated email, giving you a link to change your payment method.
Fatal Frame had similar stock problems, so I acted pretty quickly as soon as that email arrived. So you may have to do the same for Fire Emblem (just in case).
Hope this helps.
@Stitches I ordered Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water from the Nintendo UK Official Store and it arrived with a dent in the box...
It must have happened during packing or sorting because I know my local posties and they know I buy collectable items.
Ok - i had an email from Game this afternoon :
Thank you for pre-ordering Fire Emblem Fates: Special Edition - Only at GAME from GAME.co.uk.
Fire Emblem Fates: Special Edition - Only at GAME is released next week and to help everything go smoothly for you, we will be processing orders and starting to taking payment from today.
What do I need to do now?
Please check you have enough funds in your account and ensure your billing and delivery address details are up to date. You can update your order by logging into your GAME account. If you don't have an account please contact us by clicking here.
Is that all?
Yes - If your payment is processed successfully you will receive an email letting you know that your order is on its way. Your order won't reach you early; the email just means it's being held ready to be shipped.
If there is a problem with your order you may receive an email informing you that your order has been cancelled. This could be due to a problem with your payment method. If your order is cancelled in this way please place a new order or alternatively contact our Customer Service Team.
Please be aware that if your order is being shipped outside the UK it may arrive after the release date.

@cfgk24 With that... I am REALLY glad that I cancelled my pre-order of the Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition at GAME.co.uk...
I won't actually have the funds available until Friday and this sort of email would have meant that I would have had to cancel my order...
I missed the Nintendo store preorders due to being at work but luckily I had the foresight to order one from GAME. It's fine if they initially overcharge me, my account can handle it until the inevitable refund. Somebody who did get a Nintendo store preorder has also offered me their Family Crest coin when it turns up too, so hopefully all's well that ends well.
The only one I'm really annoyed about is Tokyo Mirage Sessions....the Fortissimo Edition went up for sale again while I was at work (I do late afternoon/evening shifts) so I wasn't even aware of it until it was long gone. I've so far managed to get every other Special/Collector edition on the Wii U (including the Bayonetta 1 & 2 First Print Edition, as well as Project Zero) and have been unable to source it from elsewhere so I'm now at the mercy of the scalpers for that one
@Lunarsickness
Its not a mistake, Nintendo doesn't make much profit from the special edition. They make more profit from digital sales. This is why they often make a minimum production order to get product in stores... but its for advertising. Special Editions are a form of enticement to create a large initial install base.
The REAL mistake are retailers who open preorders well before they know how many they are getting in.
Nintendo is not going to change, in fact I suspect with the NX physical stock will be even more limited, as I said they make the most profit via digital sales.
@TromaDogg That is pretty good how you will still be able to get the Fire Emblem Fates Family Crest Coin from someone who got a pre-order for the Fire Emblem Fates - Limited Edition.
I can see why it sold out so quickly as it was a really good bundle for the price of £69.99 due to Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest being £39.99 each which is £79.98 and then Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation being £17.99 which puts the total up to £97.97 (If I have done my maths correctly)
It also has a damn good amount of stuff included as well.
-Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
-Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest
-Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation
-Fire Emblem Fates Steel Book
-Fire Emblem Fates Double Sided Poster
-Fire Emblem Fates Art Book
-Fire Emblem Fates Family Crest Coin
-Fire Emblem Fates Exclusive Home Menu Theme
@cfgk24 I got that same email, initially I thought it was a cancellation email- embarrassingly, my reaction was loud enough to startle my wife who was two rooms away.
@TromaDogg I envy your Wii U game collection lol.
@Kid_Sickarus IKR? I'm praying it still all goes smoothly! This 3 game Cart will be sitting in my 3ds ALL summer!
Nintendo don't care as long as copies are sold they don't care if it's fans or ebay scalpers buying it as long as they get sold. That's the impression I get anyway
@Stitches
Yessssssssss~
Thanks for that, that's really reassuring - and what I was hoping would happen.
