Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Surpasses 5 Million Sales

Vil

Man ...I'd sure like a new Mario Kart or just any new Mario game in general that is not just a port or remaster in this never- ending avalanche of JRPG's and farming sims. At least the movie is looking great, though.

...Then again, Nintendo's current president is a former director of The Pokémon Company, so all these JRPG's and the lesser focus on brand new (and actually finished) AAA Mario games maybe isn't too surprising. Just my own opinion.

I'm sure we'll get a new Mario next year, though, probably 2D. Mario Kart 9 or whatever it'll be called and the next 3D Mario are not coming until the Switch's successor, whenever it releases.

Edit: Jesus, I'll probably get grilled by JRPG fans again for this one. I'm not hating on your favourite games. I just want a new Mario, dammit ...That's all. I'm desperate lol

Re: Poll: Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Vil

No. I'm not getting any more games this year. I always prefer indulging in my retro stuff anyway ...Most new games just make me depressed with all their complicated and bloated mechanics, technical problems and outrageous live service money making schemes. I will get Hogwarts Legacy and Kirby early next year, though, and I also really hope a new Mario platformer comes out not too long after that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 10th)

Trying the new custom item option in Mario Kart. Having only blue shells on was one of the most hilarious and insane things I've ever experienced. Probably the single best update to the game since 200cc was added back on Wii U. I'm still not a fan of the quality of the DLC tracks, though, even if some of them look better. The Tour tracks are still horrendous IMO.

I also played some Boom Street on my old modded Wii with my little sister. I love that game, but the computer players are pricks.

No, we're not giving you 1000 friggin' coins for your 80 coin- valued ice cream shop, Platypunk, you greedy *******!

Re: Mario Movie Posters Appear To Have Leaked Online, First Look At Peach & More

Vil

@theModestMouse I've seen a ton of posters that look like that. They're all terrible and are mostly made like that because it's super cheap since the studios usually have no marketing money left, so they find someone who has to do it super fast and for as cheap as possible. Not enough time for masterpieces usually, I get it ...Deadlines are sad but necessary. The Avatar sequel has an equally slapped together mess of a poster with the floating PNG heads, teal and orange blend and everything, and that movie cost almost half a billion dollars to make, but what can you do?

Not sure where I implied I've never seen them before ...Maybe because of the rant. I did vent a bit too hard, I admit. Sorry if it seemed like that was the case, that would indeed be very weird lol

Re: Smash World Tour Announces Cancellation After Notice From Nintendo

Vil

@dew12333 ...What?

I'm not calling Nintendo fans a joke, I made a joke of what responses to these articles can be from a very small but very vocal minority of extreme fans.

I'm an author myself and would never allow people to freely use my work as you mention, but this isn't one person's work, is it? To compare a massive corporation to a normal person is absurd, and when did I ever imply 'doing whatever they want with it'? This is free marketing in its purest form, and Nintendo seems to do everything they can, all the time, to stop their fans from actually enjoying and sharing their creations. That is not stealing, that is the very thing that keeps the art alive. I don't want people 'stealing' my work and 'using it however they want', but I know it's not a black and white world, it has infinite shades, especially when it comes to corporations.

You need to calm down, my friend. I didn't say anything that should offend you personally. It might have offended Nintendo, though, so I'll apologize for that.

I still respect your opinion if you disagree, though. I'm not here to attack people, just share some opinions and give different perspectives.

Re: Smash World Tour Announces Cancellation After Notice From Nintendo

Vil

"Let us all defend this poor, helpless billion dollar corporation that loves and cares about us so dearly, just trying to protect its precious billion dollar franchises from the very people that keep them alive!"

That was a joke, by the way, Nintendo fans. Don't turn me into sushi over it. I know the vast majority of you are great and don't worship the company like cult members, but simply love what they create and stand for. I'm talking about ...those fans. You know the ones.

The evangelical cult of Nintendo is very much a real thing, having founded another church in the murkiest depths of Nintendo Life long ago, but it usually only performs its pilgrimages below articles about the one word that shall not be named ...

Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For The Premiere Of Super Mario Bros. Movie's Second Trailer

Vil

"No game information will be included"

...Again, huh? A new mainline Mario game sure would be nice after such a long wait, though ...Well, one that is not just another remake, port or cheap live service sports spinoff, anyway. I'd even take another New Super Mario Bros. at this point, to be honest, as long as it's a brand new platformer.

I got absolutely murdered last time I shared this opinion on here, so I would like to clarify that I'm not complaining, whining or attacking any other games (except the recent Mario sports games, those really are quite cheap and unfinished even if they can be fun), just sharing a very tiny personal thought. Also, I'm sure there'll be one next year to tie in with the movie ...I just want some new Mario platforming action, man!

Re: Mario Movie Posters Appear To Have Leaked Online, First Look At Peach & More

Vil

That's a pretty hideous poster, but it looks real enough ...unfortunately. Has that highly artificial, thrown together Photoshop rush job look, though, with some truly awful blending and balancing and random PNG's of the characters just barfed up all over the canvas with zero understanding of composition whatsoever. As a graphic designer, I have to admit it does make me feel slightly nauseous looking at it.

Eww.

...I'm still extremely hyped for the movie, though ...and the teaser poster was absolutely phenomenal. So they clearly have the talent for great marketing material, but I guess they were all on vacation and got the intern to do this one lol

(Just to clarify, I'm talking about the second image. The first one looks like it had some crumbs of effort behind it at least.)

Re: Random: Sony Alleges That Microsoft Is Trying To Turn It Into Nintendo

Vil

I really hope the deal is stopped, but it has nothing to do with Sony. I couldn't care less about them, especially recently with all their baffling decisions and garbage PR. I just don't want another Disney monster gobbling up everything they can in their market without any consequences and neither should anyone else. Disney literally owns almost half of the entire movie industry right now, and that is awful no matter how much you like Marvel or Star Wars.

Re: Video: Hogwarts Legacy Shows Off Magical New Gameplay Footage

Vil

I'm getting this for sure!

...Just not on Switch.

I'm just relieved it looks so great and doesn't seem to be compromised in any way to fit the lowest common denominator. Makes me more confident in the Switch version being cloud based, unless it's simply being handled by another dedicated studio that can squeeze it all down enough. Either way, I'm getting it on something that can actually handle these kinds of games, and save the Switch for Nintendo's very best exclusives. Not dragging the Switch through the mud here either, Nintendo fans ...Different games suit different platforms, is all. The Tegra X1 is already punching way above its weight ...It deserves a break now and again.

Re: Poll: One Year After The DLC, Are You Still Playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Vil

Nope, sorry. Got completely fed up and burnt out with all the chores that needed to be done every day, even after I completed my town and even though most of said chores were made up by my own perfectionism. Haven't visited for almost two years and now I just can't do it unless I wind back the clock and play catch up for a few weeks.

Still miss Flora, though ...She was just the best neighbour you could ask for. I also made a little park with a boom box, aquarium and carpet outside where I always had some tango playing and the villagers used to stop by every day and sing along. That was absolutely adorable. I might return someday, but I have to admit I've long since moved on to other things. I did leave a goodbye note on the billboard, though, and I wrote Flora quite a heartfelt letter before I left.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Library With Two More Games

Vil

Can't wait for me and my little sister to tear up our palms once again, on the Switch this time.

Tug-o-War and Pedal Power still haunt my nightmares.

Edit: Can confirm like others have said, they actually put a warning every time you start Mario Party 1. Thoughtful and amusing at the same time, it prepares you for the pain that awaits within.

Re: Feature: The Spookiest Levels In Non-Spooky Games

Vil

Submerged Castle.

Enough said. I would have said the Shadow Temple as well, but then I remembered just how much of Hyrule turns into a dystopian nightmare hellscape when you're adult Link and stopped myself. Just Castle Town alone gets frightening enough.
