Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Version 2.0.2 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Vil

I just wish the next games, most likely Black and White remakes, get at least an extra year of development. It's just been getting worse and worse on the quality front and it's clearly because of the games being increasingly horrendously rushed, from my own experience with them anyway. We don't need new entries this fast. You can afford to put some time and, dare I say, polish (gasp) into your games when you're literally the biggest entertainment franchise on Earth.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 7th)

Vil

I might finally bother grinding through Shining Pearl to get Palky, Lugia and the birds. Just want all legendaries in both BD and SP to transfer them to Home and sell the games afterwards at this point. Only time I've bought both versions of Pokemon ...to get all legendaries. Stupid, I know. I finished BD two years ago, had a fun enough time ...but eventually got so sick of it I couldn't finish SP. They're not exactly masterpieces lol

Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Software Support Into FY24/25

Vil

Well, of course he's gonna say that ...and it's true. Many first party titles will definitely be cross- gen for a year or two. I doubt the flagships will, though, be it a new 3D Mario or Mario Kart, as they're meant to push the new hardware. All this doesn't change all the evidence of Switch 2 arriving in that very same fiscal year. The current Switch will still be supported for years just because of how successful it is.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

Vil

The Switch 2 not having backwards compatibility would be Nintendo signing its death sentence before it is even officially announced. Not happening. Not this time. It'd be the single worst business move of all time.

Now, just how backwards compatible it'll be is another question. All first party titles will definitely be supported and the most recent ones, like TOTK, Wonder, RPG, TTYD, etc. will get the fancy next gen patches later on upping the resolution and frame rate. Third parties is the real question. It'll probably function similarly to how Sony is doing it, with it being up to the developers to actually check if their games work alright and update them as needed.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

I've never been pushed to comment this before on this site, ever ...but this is just an awful 'article'. No offense, but ...what is this absolute tripe? It's pure engagement bait. I really expect better from this site and may consider leaving if this becomes a trend.

To be honest, though, I've never really liked these soapbox things, but none of them have actively pissed me off as much as this one did, just from the title alone. Please do better.

Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Zelda: Wind Waker HD's Bloom Lighting Or The "Flat" OG?

Vil

It'll be out on Switch 2 in a year or two, when the release schedule is a bit dry like in 2021 when Skyward Sword HD came out. They tend to use these remasters and remakes to hold us over until the Zelda team are ready to show off their next project. The next mainline entry will take at least half a decade, so Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are practically guaranteed between now and then. They're just focusing on Mario right now as Mario Kart or the next 3D one (or both) is probably their big launch title next year ...and Tears of the Kingdom is still the biggest thing since sliced bread.

Re: GameCube Classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Is Heading To Switch

Vil

This gave me a heart attack. Holy ****.

Literally almost killed me, Nintendo.

Only one of the many reasons why the GameCube was and is still my favourite console of all time and will literally remain that until I die, which I almost did from this.

Everyone who haven't played it ...You better buy it.

If not for me ...then ...at least for Arlo.

Re: Random: Someone Recreated Star Fox's Arwing In Starfield

Vil

Been checking the game out on Game Pass. If you don't take it seriously it can be fun and absolutely hilarious. Got all those classic Bethesda quirks I've heard about but without the game breaking bugs. Mannequin NPC's, being able to pick up and steal everything, even useless trash, without anyone caring, I've been having a blast just messing around with the AI and physics.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 9th)

Vil

Still playing Eastward. Annoyed by how much it crashes, though ...and how restrictive the progression is. You miss a chest or ingredient, it's gone as soon as the game just decides that you're not allowed to go back ever again.

Update: Just finished. 7 or 8 out of 10 sounds just about right. Not amazing, but a good effort. Had some issues with it. Great art and graphics, wonderful atmosphere and 'duh lore', good music, some nice dialogue, simple and fun combat and many great moments that reminded me of AlphaDream ...but the amount of crashes were unacceptable, combat can be clunky with all the switching going on, some dialogue sequences are WAY too long, some story clichés and character beats were very annoying and the restrictive progression makes 100% completion impossible unless you know exactly where everything is and play through the entire game following a checklist.

This is probably my biggest issue with the game aside from the crashes. If you're hours in and you missed just a single potato for a recipe or a gear part, heart orb or something else in an old chapter, you have to restart the entire game if you want 100%. I hate games that do this.

Re: Poll: Hasn't Nintendo Always Been An 'Entertainment' Company?

Vil

I mean, they started out selling playing cards and toys, so ...yeah. Entertainment in general. Iwata tried the fitness angle for a while as well. Video games just naturally became the main focus in the 80's when the money started rolling in, but they're still making toys with amiibo and the wacky Switch projects they have, like Labo.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Showed 'Switch 2' Demos To Developers At Gamescom

Vil

New hardware is definitely coming in late 2024 or early 2025. I'm willing to bet it'll get announced early next year before this fiscal year is up, with the new 3D Mario and Mario Kart probably dropping in the launch window as well. It's definitely been long enough and the timing is perfect. If all this is true, they'll be drowning in cash.

They'll keep denying it until after the holiday sales dry up, though. Come February and March, we'll get the blowout.

Re: New Interview With Zelda Boss Suggests There Are No Plans For TOTK DLC

Vil

Excellent. Move on to better hardware and spend all the time and creativity on a brand new title for that. This amazing development team deserves it. Not every game needs DLC. I personally stop playing almost all games after the main part is done, so if there was DLC I usually never play it. I also just want the creators of this masterpiece to get some actual hardware that can run their ambitions, like the Switch 2 hopefully.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct - All Announcements, Features, Power-Ups, Worlds

Vil

As if I wasn't sold enough already, of course something like this would surprise drop out of nowhere ...And as expected, the game really lives up to its name. So much new and exciting stuff in here it's blowing me away. Wow.

Actually somewhat unique new power ups, new enemies and world themes that are finally interesting visually ...I'm just so happy. It's been forever since we've had an actually fresh, new Mario ...The animations especially are so GOOD! HYPE!

Re: Poll: Pikmin 4 Is Out On Switch This Week, Will You Be Getting It?

Vil

Tried the demo and I was not a fan ...Especially of the controls. I just couldn't get into it. Also the reason I will always stick to the Wii U version of Pikmin 3 and the Wii versions of Pikmin 1 and 2.

I'll patiently wait for Mario Christmas to begin in late October instead. Happy for those who love Pikmin and enjoyed the demo, though. I hope you have a wonderful time with the game. It just wasn't for me personally.
