The Bowser's Inside Story remake on 3DS ...AlphaDream's swansong. It's mostly gorgeous, but only runs at 30 which throws off battle timing a bit ...and the giant battles are nowhere near as charming with the somewhat rough 3D models.
@MysteryCupofJoe I actually drew up a concept for Wario and Waluigi when I was younger. I've always been a big fan of the series and always hoped for a Mario and Luigi versus Wario and Waluigi crossover for the next game, where Wario and Waluigi could be tied to the X and Y buttons with their own special moves and you could switch between them from their own corners of the world or something. That would've been so cool and would make for some hilarious writing and interactions.
I believe I called it 'Mario & Luigi: Double Trouble'. If only I had the IP, funding and studio I'd make it myself honestly lol
If I want a remake of anything, it'd be Partners in Time, with AlphaDream's magical spritework from Dream Team. Smash Bros. gets enough attention as it is ...The Mario & Luigi series was always criminally overlooked (as AlphaDream's bankruptcy showed) ...until it suffered the same fate as Paper Mario, with its quirky and weird heart and soul sucked out in the name of 'Bowser kidnaps Peach, there only exists toads and koopas and even the slightest actual focus on story and worldbuilding is a threat to the Mario IP'. There's a serious lack of that now. I still remember a time where Mario could be absolutely anything and where his world could have both story and personality.
We already got the first and third games spruced up ...and Mario & Luigi desperately deserves a comeback. Still heartbroken over that studio's bankruptcy and I blame it mostly on the dreadfully dull and soulless Paper Jam.
@Cashews Thank you. People are way too harsh on that game. I loved it personally, even if some of the later missions got a bit frustrating. The graphics were stunning for the time, especially, though the frame rate suffered, so the best way to play now is through the excellent backwards compatibility feature. Wildly creative, colourful and fun with plenty of awesome physics- focused gameplay I haven't really seen since.
Sure, it's not Banjo- Threeie, but if you look past that and look at the game for what it is, I'd say it's almost a hidden gem.
Don't worry. Zelda is coming, but is a sequel reusing most of Breath of the Wild yet it still took 6 years to come out. It may most likely still be a masterpiece, of course, I'd just like a fresh new entry afterwards like in the past (that hopefully won't take 10 years).
A new Mario is probably not even on the map until the next generation, which is very sad ...and it better not just be a sequel to Odyssey.
That seems quite underwhelming, unless they'll make heavy use of DLSS ...but as long as it is fully backwards compatible and all my purchases are still owned by me through the next generation, I guess I'll survive.
I'm not hyped at all for this one ...as it's just a sequel reusing so much from Breath of the Wild that took longer than any other main entry in the series. Is it just me or does the Mario and Zelda series seem to be quite mishandled as of late? ...Or maybe they just take forever to make now. I blame Furukawa once again.
@Chunkboi79 I respect that. It'll be a very long time, if ever, we'll see Nintendo doing something official with the Wii U and 3DS library again. We're not hurting anyone anymore after March anyway ...so I say go for it.
@ParadoxFawkes Exactly. My point exactly. Some people on here seem terrified of anything emulation and modding, though, which is sad. It's actually pretty cool if you just try it out.
I'm totally against emulating new games that are still being sold, though, like the Switch. It's games that no longer make any money, are out of print or have lost service that should be allowed to live on.
Homebrew can be used legally, and when it is used legally, it's an excellent way to preserve the games you bought and should own for as long as you want to preserve them. That's my opinion on the matter.
People just think homebrew and hacking is black and white and that everyone who hates Nintendo's consumer practices and mod their consoles to break out are filthy pirates or something when that's just not the case most of the time.
Why not try getting out of Nintendo's prison for just a second before judging ...especially when the console and all its games and services lose support completely. Well, that's what I think, anyway.
Biggest waste of money I've ever seen. It doesn't show up Nintendo for their arguably anti- consumer practices either, as they get their cut of the money for all this at the end of the day. It's just dumb, but I'm sure the YouTube clicks will make for a nice profit anyway.
Regarding preservation, one quick peek outside Nintendo's locked down box will show you fans have already preserved pretty much every single scrap left behind from both the Wii U and 3DS, even the huge amount removed altogether ages ago. Nintendo's modding scene is by far the best in the entire industry.
Sunshine. I'd love to see it fully realised and not so tragically rushed into oblivion as it was. The most polished unfinished game ever made, pretty much. It's still my favourite game of all time, but I don't deny the obvious glaring flaws with it.
It needs to have docked 4K support at the very least ...and analog triggers. I predict it will have them, if not just to fully support GameCube emulation for the Switch Online Expansion Pack ++ Ultra Deluxe Edition, only available on Switch 2 or New Switch or ...whatever ridiculous name it'll have.
Honestly pathetic they still refuse to add Super Mario RPG, licensing or not.
"Oh no, that would be too good for our service."
You're so lucky, Nintendo, that your past library is masterful enough to look past the dreadful N64 emulation, hilariously slow drip feeding (especially for, again, wait for it ...the N64) and unusable laggy mess of an online experience.
I love your old classics, Nintendo ...I grew up with them, but this still ain't it, fam. At least give us Mario Party 3 and Smash 64 already lol
@thiagoauler "It's not a piece of plastic, it's exquisitely carved polycarbonate and electronic chips finely merged together into an impossibly small and thin card you can insert gently into your premium device with a satisfying click, all shipped inside an equally detailed clear, polycarbonate case molded to perfection with a highly detailed coloured print wrapped around the outside for a complete unboxing experience unlike any other."
"one of the reasons that even going into year seven we feel very confident that the Switch can have a strong performance over the next few years ..."
Oh yeah, totally. That poor Tegra X1 can last a few more years, alright. All the games look and run perfectly and are not squeezed or held back at all at this point, especially all the wonderful multiplatform titles, no compromises or cloud versions needed with those, they all look and run perfectly for a portable device in 2023. Who needs a hardware upgrade when the 10- year old mobile chip we have is handling everything just great. No siree, it's all fine and dandy.
NOTE: Joking. Sarcasm. My opinion. Having fun. I know some people hate others making fun of our "great and glorious Nintendo", so I'll put a disclaimer for you. Calm down.
Also, regarding the price, it sucks, but everyone is doing it now for everything pretty much, mostly because of inflation and certain ...other things going on in the world right now.
I'm sorry, but Brawl should be higher. I'm not a competitive Smash player (which if you are, I totally get why it should be low on the list), but the amount of content that game had is still unmatched. I spent ages in the Stage Builder alone, the trophies were still a thing and the Subspace Emissary is still the best single player campaign the series has to offer ...in my opinion.
@JohnnyMind As much as I'd like to do that, I can't, as both have a lot of asterisks attached to them. Bowser's Fury is far from a full game, it's more of a story expansion and felt like a fancy tech demo to me personally, running 3D World's engine. Mario Maker 2 is a stage builder which does have a campaign, but it was the definition of basic, only consisting of demo levels. Yes, you can build your own Mario game pretty much and play full worlds made by others, but it's not a finely crafted 2D Mario from Nintendo themselves if you get what I mean. It's great, but I feel it's part of another category with the likes of Dreams for PS4 and Little Big Planet.
But don't get me wrong. If people count these as the 3D and 2D Mario games between Odyssey and NSMBU and whatever comes next, I totally get that. I just can't count them the same way. In either case, it's definitely time for a new entry. Perhaps not a 3D one as that's being saved for the next generation launch window ...but a 2D one, sure. This is supposed to be Nintendo's biggest IP, yet recently I can't help but feel it's being somewhat mistreated.
@Mauzuri Simply wanting a new mainline entry in Nintendo's most prestigious franchise after over half a decade of nothing but ports, remasters and mostly unfinished live service spinoffs is being greedy now? ...I see. Alright. I respect the opinions of others but would like to politely agree to disagree about that.
@link3710 I personally feel 6 years is large enough between brand new, non- remastered or ported games. Last time we've waited this long was between 64 and Sunshine I'm pretty sure. I'd honestly take another NSMB at this point ...well, almost lol
I have edited it slightly, though. Sorry about the tone, I'm just getting a bit restless.
I sure miss the days where we got brand new Mario platformers to look forward to semi- regularly (no matter their quality to be honest ...Mario is still always fun) ...and not just stickers, infographics, remasters, ports, DLC for a near- decade- old Mario Kart and sports spinoff beta tests.
If you spend half a million dollars on a single card from a kids' trading card game, I honestly feel like you either have and earn too much money for your own good ...or you need to rethink just what led you to this moment in your life ...where you decide to spend more than most ordinary people make in a year on a single trading card with a slightly more fancy print than all the others worth literal pennies.
Everything should be on sale before shutdown. Still can't believe they're actually getting away with it. If they shut down access to your purchases completely at one point after this, will they get away with that too? They better not.
@LeJuiceCup I know The Pokémon Company is most to blame, I said that ...but if I'm not wrong, doesn't Game Freak own a third of TPC? The three major stakeholders are Game Freak, Creatures and Nintendo. They shouldn't be completely excused in my opinion and with the amount of money they make they should be fully capable of treating the IP with actual respect by using that power they definitely have to make a change. Instead, though, they keep their development team painfully small (and I mean small) compared to every other major developer in the entire industry pretty much and hire very questionable people to rush out what is supposed to be AAA flagship titles.
I'm not for hurting and overworking developers in any way and there is way too much of that in the industry, but Game Freak clearly have the resources to not do this, don't you think?
I just can't believe how much Game Freak's latest cheap, ugly, tragically rushed dumpster fire still sells. Not only that, but they have the audacity to ask for more money for DLC when the main game can still barely pass for an alpha test. I was a huge fan up until a few years ago and liked Legends Arceus well enough but these were the last straw. Didn't buy them nor will I ever. This developer is either severely understaffed or just hideously mismanaged. They could make a good game, but have never put in the proper time or resources to do so, treating their literal crown jewel IP like absolute garbage in the process. Just imagine what Pokémon could be if given the talent, time and resources it so obviously deserves. It was almost achieved with Arceus. In either case, The Pokémon Company is the main disgrace to humanity here.
This is literally the biggest franchise on the planet and the games they put out are always insanely rushed to tie in with all the merch and anime stuff, look like absolute trash, have zero budget and polish put into them and are being held together with nostalgia- branded duct tape. There is literally zero excuses left anymore and I personally think most others would agree that we all deserve something even slightly better than this disgrace at the very least.
Look at literally any other RPG on the market, even the countless amount on Switch, especially from Nintendo's own studios, all of which may only sell a fraction of these games. The difference in just bare minimum quality isn't just a minor bump, it's a literal mountain.
Alright, so just the soon to be 6 year old game then ...and the wonderfully awful, bare minimum box design from the intern's 5 year old son with some cheap stickers thrown in. Cool.
I feel like Furukawa just hates Mario or something lol
Such an underrated gem. The lore has never gone deeper and more awesome and the story mode felt truly epic, if a bit short. Quality over quantity, though.
Just finished this one yesterday after it had been left sitting on my Switch for almost a year completely forgotten because of serious video game burnout. I finally took the time to play it again and what a wonderful little game it was. I knew it would be good, but not this good. As always, though, that ending was as absurdly epic as ever, with Kirby games always going full Lovecraft. I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. Simple, colourful fun platforming in this endless ocean of hyper- expensive hundred- hour AAA RPG's is definitely needed.
If you suffer from total game burnout after playing something way too massive, like I did after Hogwarts Legacy, there is no better way to reignite the fun spark than this game.

Simple, colourful fun platforming in this endless ocean of hyper- expensive hundred- hour AAA RPG's is definitely needed.
If you suffer from total game burnout after playing something way too massive, like I did after Hogwarts Legacy, there is no better way to reignite the fun spark than this game.

...Whatever happened to Mario Party 3, though?
