I really thought Hogwarts Legacy would do way better than that over there. Harry Potter is still very popular in Japan. I suppose a lot of people are waiting for the PS4 or Switch version, though I fear the Switch port will be a truly miserable experience.
What does Nintendo have against their crown jewel IP recently?
There better be an absolute platforming masterpiece in the pipeline for late this year or early 2024, because all this is seriously starting to get on my nerves.
Let's summarize ...
Mario Odyssey - 6 year old game this fall. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 6 year old spruced- up port of a 9 year old Wii U game. Mario Bros. U Deluxe - 4 year old port of a 10 year old Wii U launch title.
I'm very excited for the movie, but any new mainline games on the way in the near future sure would be nice.
Hogwarts Legacy! So glad to see it is doing well, even if I knew it would. Avalanche definitely deserves it for the amazing work they did!
I'm also willing to give praise to a game that was actually somewhat finished and had a shocking amount of love and polish poured into it on release, unlike some others.
Slowly working my way through this magical masterpiece and I can honestly say I'm absolutely blown away. Sure, it has some flaws and rough edges, but I couldn't care less! They DID IT! It's literally a dream come true for me. Bravo, Warner Bros., and most of all, bravo, Avalanche! You went from a Cars 3 tie- in to this?! You've officially joined the prestige club of AAA developers in my eyes. Absolutely phenomenal work ...and so many nostalgic references to the old Zelda- inspired licensed games too, which I love! Even Flipendo made it in lol
Speaking of, the Room of Requirement was shockingly in- depth. They didn't have to do any of it, but they crammed a full- on base builder in there with options to place furniture, tools, change colours and looks, the whole ordeal. It's insane and I absolutely love it. Honestly overwhelming how much content is in here ...This room alone made me completely forget about the quest list as I customized, brewed and planted away my entire Friday evening.
Seriously, though, the attention to detail is absolutely insane so far. Can't even remember the last time I've seen so much love poured into a single game before.
The lack of anything big confirmed past the summer just makes me think there'll be another Direct in June ...If not, that pretty much confirms to me that this is the Switch's swansong year and that the next console drops sometime in 2024, with Metroid Prime 4 and some kind of Mario Kart or 3D Mario evergreen in the launch window. The end of the current DLC lines up too perfectly ...That's what I think, anyway. All things considered, though, it looks like a pretty alright year to go out on.
It was fine. Definitely miles better than the September one. Highlight by far for me was the Game Boy stuff ...without any price increase either (for now)! Very happy for those who've waited for Metroid Prime, though ...That one was certainly long overdue.
Oh yeah ...No new Mario games at all, let alone a new platformer ...again. That sucked.
Besides that ...I think I'm just growing out of it, to be honest. Getting older and more bitter with the awful real world times we live in. Nothing seems to excite me that much anymore.
@Gumbo1995 Yup, but it was at least somewhat playable before. After the big caves and cliffs update they did, it seems everything breaks completely if you manipulate the world in any way. Absolutely miserable experience now, unless you just walk around and don't build anything whatsoever.
Tried playing my survival world recently with the new updates. It ran at like 5 fps, completely unplayable. If you've built anything more than a basic house, performance is an absolute meme, especially if you try playing in split screen. My builds were shown off in a PowerPoint presentation. Don't even try.
I'll stick to Java ...or another platform for Bedrock.
@Benny504 Nintendo follows in Sony's footsteps. After all, you've gotta charge extra for that silky smooth Tegra X1 experience. It's so close to PS5 in terms of raw horsepower, right?
@Oh_Well Unfortunate but I think that's probably very true. That's why I really hope they have another Direct in June or that the next generation hype wave is not too far off with new 3D Mario, etc. It really does feel like this Nintendo generation is winding down with Zelda being the last heavy hitter. Could be wrong, though.
I just want a brand new Mario platforming game, 2D or 3D doesn't matter, though 2D is the most likely. No more ports, no more remakes and remasters, no more unfinished sports beta tests ...Just a simple brand new Mario platformer. That's it.
...Now, what I don't want is more JRPG's and farming sims. Nothing against those games, I like one every once in a while, but ...please. Let's take a break from those announcements ...just for a couple of months.
I love the GameCube dearly and Dolphin is excellent, but I prefer my original console with a HDMI converter modded with Xeno and Swiss. Got pretty much the entire library loaded up in there and it's great. Nothing beats the original experience.
I'm also happy to see people on here not just shilling Nintendo to hell and back anymore when it comes to these topics.
OK, that's way better. Good use of colours and decent enough blending. Using 'smoke' like that is something I always do, it's a very easy way to hide imperfections while also looking neat. I guess the real graphic designers finally showed up.
@InTree I consider that more of a cool side expansion to 3D World ...and sure, it's probably best to drop the next big 3D one on next gen, I know that. I'd just like something new in the meantime this year, like another 2D Mario perhaps. That doesn't require nearly as many resources while still being a brand new experience and not just yet another spruced- up Wii U port.
Then again, this is all just my opinion. Times have changed and I'm getting older and more bitter lol
@PewnyPL It's so dumb ...All the major studios should have better communication between their foreign dubbing partners so releases can be way closer together across the board. These kinds of delays are the absolute worst for those affected in terms of spoilers, etc. I've experienced it before and it really sucks, man. Be cautious of the incoming spoiler avalanche at the end of March, especially on this site.
@PewnyPL My sincerest condolences, friend. It seems Poland in particular got completely screwed for some reason, as that release discrepancy is absurd. Is it a dub- related delay, maybe? Or does Universal just hate your lovely country or something lol
Norway FTW. Still waiting to book my seats for the premiere. Gonna get the best ones I can.
Belgium got even luckier, though, but it's only 2 days earlier than us so I guess it's fine. I do still want to check out the French dub at some point, if the movie is good enough for a rewatch.
Not a fan of nuzlockes in general, especially with Animal Crossing where I feel the whole point of the game is ruined if you make rules like this. Randomizers, though, are awesome.
Speaking of which, I wish Nintendo was more open to any kind of modding of their wonderful games because there are some absolutely incredible fan creations out there. Getting to try the Super Mario 64 PC port especially, with Render 96 and ray tracing, was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had in my entire life.
Mario Kart 8 will also be a decade old next spring ...just as a reminder. People keep buying them like they're milk and bread. Both GTA 6 and the next Mario Kart will come out soon, though ...maybe. Eventually. Hopefully before I die.
...I still can't believe they're up there. Doesn't everyone and their grandma own a version of both of them at this point?
I love to see Animal Crossing and God of War doing so well, though. They are both wonderful games. Haven't played the others on the list except Minecraft, which ...well, it's Minecraft. Of course it's there. I'm not sure who still doesn't own it, though.
Also, FIFA. Here's the TLDR:
"Full AAA price every year for the exact same game with a basic roster update and a gambling addict's fever dream of a digital casino hellscape? Sign me up!"
Cool! Can't wait for Chess, Monopoly and Othello next! Maybe Catan this summer if we're lucky!
...Jokes aside, I'm good, thanks. I only subscribe for N64, and even that is starting to wear thin at this point with its less than stellar emulation and hilariously slow drip feeding of new content. NSO is still trash, but it's very cheap trash in comparison to most others, so the occasional nostalgic N64 game is still barely worth the asking price for me personally. Now, if they'd dump Game Boy, GBC, GBA and DS on there, it would definitely be worth it for years to come ...but that will most likely result in yet another price jump and even more drip feeding. I sure hope not, though.
I have a lot of nostalgia for the Wii entry, but had no idea it got an arcade game. I better check this out now if it's been uploaded. Any arcade stuff is next to impossible to find where I live, so I've always been forced to check them out through other means anyway. Also another huge win for game preservation. Even the most obscure games deserve to be preserved.
Tough luck.
Love that the music can be enjoyed on YouTube, though. I hope it stays up for a while.
Wow, what a comment section. I think I'll stay out of this one ...Just want to wish everyone a happy new year and hope you'll have a great new year's eve celebration tonight. I'm having turkey myself.
@JohnnyMind Honestly, I totally get why people would feel this way, so no worries. I just really want new Mario games that are not just ports, remakes or cheap sports games and it just feels like all these JRPG's and farming sims are making the chances of that less likely, with Nintendo also focusing way more on those genres than they used to. Nothing at all against those games, though, of course, and I get that it might sound a bit entitled and whiny to some. I'm just a bit desperate, as I said, with the only new Mario Kart this generation being a spruced- up Wii U port and the newest 3D Mario pushing past 5 years old lol

Still waiting for my pre- ordered copy to arrive. Our postal service truly is top- tier.
Re: Super Mario Bros. Movie Nintendo Direct Announced For 9th March, Will Debut 'Final Trailer'
No game information will be included in this #NintendoDirect
Me waiting for a new Mario game be like ...
Re: 'Pokémon Presents' Showcase Announced For Next Week, 27th February 2023
I'd take some old 'mon on NSO. Never played the GBA ones so that would be the perfect excuse to try them out.
Beyond that, maybe another PokéPark? I'm just personally so sick and tired of JRPG's, so bring on the weird stuff.
Re: The First Review For Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe Is Now In
Good enough. I'm getting it. Like the original and love the new visuals.
Re: Talking Point: What Will Be Announced On Pokémon Day 2023?
@ZombieGold78 Sure, but I'd still like to see Monolith have a go at it. A fresh take is needed in my opinion.
Re: Miyamoto: Nintendo Is "Always" Working On Mario, But Isn't Ready For The Next Game Reveal Just Yet
All I ask is no more DLC, remasters and remakes. A brand new game please.
I don't count Bowser's Fury. It was a fancy DLC expansion IMO.
Re: Talking Point: What Will Be Announced On Pokémon Day 2023?
A new developer for the main series. Now that would be exciting. Maybe Monolith can have a go?
Re: UK Charts: Splatoon 3 Makes A Surprise Comeback, Climbing Six Spots
Hogwarts Legacy at #1 is so well deserved. Hope it stays there for a while.
Quidditch game next? Please, WB?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 18th)
...Still playing Hogwarts Legacy.
Maybe it's a bit too big lol
Re: The Tetris Movie Falls Onto Apple TV+ In March, Check Out The First Trailer
Finally! Let's go.
Re: Where To Pre-Order The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom On Switch
@FierceVinegar Yup lol
Re: Pre-Purchase Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom At GameStop And Get A Free Wooden Plaque
GameStop still exists? Huh.

Hogwarts Legacy! So glad to see it is doing well, even if I knew it would. Avalanche definitely deserves it for the amazing work they did!

Re: Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection Brings Original Trio Of DS Titles To Switch In June
That price is hilarious. I went to check the collection out on the eShop, saw it, and reacted appropriately.
Re: Game Boy And GBA Coming To Switch Online Today
The highlight of the Direct by far.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2023 Nintendo Direct?

Myes, well ...At least Pokémon has a new game (no matter how hideously rushed and buggy it may be) and does not rely on decade- old Wii U ports.
