The latest UK charts are in, and without any new releases to speak of in the top ten this week, there is merely a slight reshuffling of the deck.
In the top ten, Splatoon 3 has made a bit of a comeback this week, climbing up six spots from position sixteen to position ten. Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe maintains its current position at number four, which it has held for the last three weeks running. Animal Crossing New Horizons has dropped a few spots, but is still holding on strong, while Nintendo Switch Sports maintains its own position at number eight for the second week in a row.
Elsewhere, as expected, Hogwarts Legacy continues to dominate at the top of the pack, with FIFA 23 and God of War Ragnarok flipping around that second and third position, something both games have been maintaining for several weeks now.
We mentioned earlier, of course, that there are no new releases in the top ten, however Theatrhythm Final Bar Line and Tales of Symphonia: Remastered both show up at the sixteenth and seventeenth spots respectively. Tales of Symphonia sold particularly well on Switch, making up 61% of the split, but obviously keep in mind that these charts are for physical copies only.

I never like those top 3. 🤢
I was wearing a Splatoon's shirt out yesterday (in Canada) and a girl, maybe 11-13 said she liked the shirt and the game. I asked her who who picked in the last Splatfest, and she said "I've never played it, but I would have picked Milk Chocolate"
The idea that a game has a following paying attention to events (likely watching streamers and the like) isn't that crazy for MOBA's and in SEA it happens around basically any competitive esport, but I think that's the first time I've seen it in NA for anything other then DOTA. The idea that what was a niech Nintendo IP 5 years ago is already at that level is insane.
I have actually noticed a bunch of new players on 3 recently funnily enough (literally ran into one an hour ago XD) so this makes a decent amount of sense to me!
@Anti-Matter The first two I can understand but.... God of War?
@Fizza
I extremely hate ultra violence games with bloody stuffs and gore.
Take a note.
I was one of those that contributed to the Splatoon 3 sales and am loving it so far! It’s had a price reduction to £30 so maybe that bumped the sales up
Because this is a gem 💎
@HeadPirate I like her. Lots of cool kids there. What’s your t-shirt like ?
Splatoon 3 has been pretty cheap on Amazon this week from what I have seen so maybe that has helped.
Two games number 1 last week?
A billion years from now, when the oceans are boiling away and the last few stubborn microorganisms are being burned off the face of the Earth, Mario Kart 8, GTA V, and Minecraft will still be fighting it out on the top 10 list.
Splatoon 3 is starting a new season in March, called the Fresh Season. It will have a load of new content, same as last time. Not sure if that is the reason, or the game just went on sale on Amazon or something. As for Hogwarts Legacy and Fifa 23, they won't last terribly long on the top of the board, if they remain on the board at all. I wouldn't call them fad games, but people are buying and streaming them on Twitch constantly, which really helps. I'm also quite impressed that older games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, GTA V, and Minecraft consistently take pretty good spots on the charts, despite their age. But again, two of them have been ported to almost every console you could dream of, and Mario Kart is still receiving decently sized updates to this very day. COD, Switch Sports and GOW: Ragnarok are all solid games, each striking a chord with their own targeted demographics on a consistent basis. Switch Sports is for the family, COD is the massive online multiplayer, and GOW is for the hardcore single player campaign gamer.
And GTAV is back in the top 10 so we can all sleep easy again at nights.
I hope the absence in the Direct doesn't mean Golf was the last update for Switch Sports. That game would've been fantastic if it had a few more sports and gave the option for being able to play normal golf and bowling rather than be limited to battle royale.
I really hope Kirby and Octopath takes the top 2 in the next chart.
@Fizza Anti-Matter hates all M rated games of which GoW Ragnarok is one.
Yay, people in the UK can celebrate buying their 3,128th copy of GTA 5!!
Of the top 10 I only like:
@Grumblevolcano Nintendo will create another Sports Switch on the next console. It will be exactly the same as the current one, but with 2 more sports (one of them will be a free DLC that will come 1 year later). Nintendo's going to charge $49. And I'm not going to buy it. My predictions.
@TheBigBlue Minecraft in the top 10 here is specifically the Switch version.
@Grumblevolcano I mean, the original Wii Sports only had six sports as well. It’s sequel, Resort, had double that. But that game was also just to help market the Wii Motion Plus. I think switch sports was aiming more for Wii Sports than its sequel in it’s simplicity and charm. It mixes older wii sports with new ones. With the addition of golf, there is 7 sports. Personally, as a game, I think Switch Sports had a pretty good end result.
Hogwarts Legacy at #1 is so well deserved. Hope it stays there for a while.
Quidditch game next? Please, WB?
@Anti-Matter You kidding, those are the best and well deserve spots. Mario Kart is the one that keeps popping up just like GTA5, my gosh who keeps buying that game?
@Shiro28 You mean the game that just breached 50 million copies sold a few weeks ago? Plenty of people still buy and play Mario kart 8 deluxe.
@TheBigBlue Wii Sports had 5 sports.
You know PS5s are selling well when GTAV returns to the charts lol. We now have the usual trifecta in the charts. Fifa. GTA. Call of Duty.
Football, crime and war. The ever greens of the UK. (Not sure what that says about us...)
@Anti-Matter What’s wrong with God of War Ragnarök and Hogwarts Legacy?
Both are amazing games that deserve to sell this well.
@BTB20 wait what? Oh, my mistake. Thanks for the correction. I thought it was six, but maybe I mixed that with switch sports.
@IOI
Maybe for you they are interesting games, but I never like any adult games especially with gritty stuffs and ultra violence.
I only play kids games.
@Anti-Matter Lol, ok I guess, then don’t sweat about games you don’t like actually selling well.
I despise FIFA yet I don’t care if it sells well or not.
@Friscobay
I have both the official ones from the Star vs. Mushroom splatfest, and my pride and joy is a collaboration Hello Kitty shirt from Japan. The one I was wearing was from the Uniqlo collection.

@TheBigBlue I meant GTA 5. That game just doesn’t stop selling since it came out
Yeah, the sales for that game never dwindle it seems. People wanted a gta 6 all these years, yet there was no hurry for rockstar to make a new one, because gta 5 continued to sell and fly of the shelves. Only recently did gta’s developer actually start working on gta 6
Not too surprising, especially with MK8's new DLC, Splatoon's Season Pass announcement, Hogwarts being one of the biggest game's in years, and GTA V making kids annoy their parents to buy it for them.
@HeadPirate nice little collection. Great stuff.
Is the charts based purely on sales or how many people are playing the games as well?
@HeadPirate You realise you have to give your shirt back after the splatfest, don't you?
@Type_Trubbish Purely based on physical sales.
@romanista
Yeah I got a deal with Spyke on the down-low. Shouldn't really be talking about it in the open ...
