Re: Metroid Prime 4's "Combined Sales" Have Surpassed One Million, Nintendo Confirms

@Yoshi3 @J-ro If that's the case then it's really unfortunate for Retro Studios and a good reminder that sometimes it's better to dare to question the direction given.

@HugoGED I've played all games since 1987, so this is coming from someone who loves Metroid. The design choices of MP4 felt insultingly stupid compared to the other games in the series. The story and characters are extremely cheesy. Nobody wants a cliché Halo clone. They should hire proper writers next time. The only great saving grace of the game were the amazing visuals.

@Misima I've had the same thoughts, but please let me propose you 2 counter arguments.
1.
Videogames, in moderation, can be an incredible stress reliever. I'm 45, parents of 2, work 10h a day directing a CGI movie with 300 people, but am still pretty chill. Many people my age have the need to meditate, practice yoga or mindfulness (which are all great), but somehow, playing 1h in the evening is enough for me.
I use videogames when I can't fall asleep (remembering all Megaman bosses in order is more effective than counting sheep) and they bring me joy when I stumble upon an exciting news on Nintendo Life.
2.
Videogames can be a great bonding experience with your kids. I have incredible memories of launching Tears of the Kingdom together with my kids after I came back from a 1 week business trip. My son and I recently played Silksong individually and daily shared our achievements to each other. My daughter loves Mario Party, Untitled Goose and Just Dance and I will happily play with her and her friends.

In conclusion, the key is moderation. Videogames are terribly addictive and we should absolutely speak more about the danger this represents (more than violent games or gambling). However, with a healthy habit (I use the parental controls and limit their game time to 30m a day, and 1h on weekends - yes it took my son 3 months to finish Silksong) it can lead to some great positives.

@Arawn93 My friend's 10 year old daughter is an avid Nintendo gamer and loves Donkey Kong Bananza. During the holidays she was put naked on X. The post took 2 weeks to get removed and the image is still in circulation at her school. This matters because Nintendo is a family focused company.
X has lost its relevance a long time ago and NL should just stop linking to it like many responsible outlets have done.

I'm glad to see so much excitement for this game as I have personally zero interest in it. Plus, it's coming out among so many awesome games: Silksong, Hades 2, Pokémon ZA, Zelda: Age Of Imprisonment and Metroid Prime 4, among numerous others.
What I'm mostly looking forward to is for Sakurai to free up to look into another Smash Bros or Kid Icarus.

The game feels really incomplete, especially considering the price tag. Here's what I'd love to see in a free update:

-- Online --

Be able to choose circuits instead of straight roads.
Allow for random itineraries in Knockout tour.

-- Free roam --

Collectible counter for each region in free roam.
Get better rewards for free roam (like artworks, costume colours, vehicle colors, emotes).
Enable 2P free roam mode.
Encounter and race other online players in free roam mode.

-- Battle mode --

Smaller arenas so that you spend less time searching and more time battling.

-- General --

Make it easier to unlock NPC characters.
Control the volume of music and sfx separately (for music lovers).
Bring back Stats page.
