Re: Review: The Last Blade (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

TurboTEF

@KeeperBvK

I'm aware, but those are bad ports by a different company (DotEmu). I have Last Blade 1-2, Metal Slug 1-3, and Twinkle Star Sprites and they have massive resolution and performance issues. The Hamster ports are far superior and I hope SNK rereleases them on Steam at some point.

Luckily SNK has released their newer titles by themselves on there. All the KoF ports are great as well.

Re: Random: Here's What Star Wars: The Last Jedi Would Have Looked Like On The SNES

TurboTEF

TLJ (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar) and the Han Solo flick will probably be the only SW movies I will have not seen in theater. I hope Disney treats a new set of movies in the universe better next time.

With JJ back on the last one, I'll probably go see it.

TFA and Rogue One (best new SW film IMO) are the best so far IMO.

And yeah, was never a fan of the Super Star Wars games and sold them around 1998. Got them on the Wii again (cause why not) and still hated them.

Re: Review: The Last Blade (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

TurboTEF

I put a lot of time into my Dreamcast and Neo Geo Pocket Color (Dear SNK, release a NGPC clicky stick joy-con!) versions back in 2000. Damn fine fighter!

Wish Hamster would release these on Steam as that's what I have my arcade sticks for. Still, this is good enough for single-player fun on the go and I will get this.

Re: Square Enix Explains Why The Secret Of Mana Remake Isn't Coming To Switch

TurboTEF

@BanjoPickles

I think it looks great and better than the original and I got the original back on its launch in 1993. Its using a better OST as well.

Action RPGs just look better and work better with polygons than sprites IMO. I'm not saying I hate sprite-based (I love them, take a que from Sonic Mania, Nintendo for a new 2D Mario) games either as I still want the collection to come to to Western shores.

It always saddens me that people will constantly take a low-blows at great remakes like this when the originals still exist. I want more remakes of 16/32-bit games like this and I'm glad they trickle out sometimes as rare treats, especially when its one of my top 5 (Gunstar Heroes, This, Rocket Knight, Star Fox, and Link's Awakening) games of 1993.

At least I can play this on Steam!

Re: Preview: Fire Emblem Warriors Could Be The Best Musou Game Yet

TurboTEF

@the8thark

I agree, Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is the best musou game I've played yet and it'll be damn hard to top it IMO. Not buying FE Heroes because of front-loaded DLC/passes up the wazoo and 30fps. I can't play this genre at 30fps anymore after DQH on PC.

I will buy the next Fire Emblem game though on Switch.

@NintendoRob1977

Or you can just enjoy the game for what it is instead of damning it outright for being a runner type. I've been playing games for 34+ years and hated the runner games as well at first but then I started playing a few and enjoyed the old arcade challenge feel of some of them. A few of the runners I have on Steam are quite hard, engaging, and fun.

Re: Random: Drinks Company Hints At Undiscovered Super Mario Easter Egg

I lived in Detroit (Flint, 1993-1999) from 1980-1993 and still live in Michigan and some Faygo flavors are on par or better than the national brands. Especially their Root Beer, Red Pop, and Rock and Rye (Pepsi did create a better version with lots of caffeine back in 1995-1999, Josta, one of my holy grails of soda). They just brought back a great flavor I haven;t had since the mid 90s, Artic Sun.

Heck, even the Kroger brand (Citrus Drop) Diet Mountain has a better tastes than the actual stuff IMO.

I also believe the Mario flavors came back in 1998 if memory serves me right. I was working as a bagger/stocker in a grocery store at the time from 1997-1999.

Re: Random: Move Over N64 Kid, We've Got Nintendo Switch Kid Now

TurboTEF

@Damo

Indeed, Curly Shuffle Switch Kid gets my vote!

The two N64 kids pawing at the N64 box and screaming guttural howls of excitement is still pretty funny though!

I did fist pumps of joy back in 1983, 1987, 1991, and 1992 when I got my Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and SNES respectively!

Re: Video: Exploring The 8-Bit Mega Man Games Of The SNES Era

TurboTEF

AKA, the games I didn't ignore as I was a huge Mega Man fan and used birthday and allowance money to make sure I got each of these in 1991, 1992, and 1993 (along with X that late fall). Secretly I wished Capcom would have released them on the Genesis/SNES at the time for better graphics and music.

Re: Random: Someone Claims to Have Unearthed Star Fox: Red Zone Virtual Boy Assets

TurboTEF

Definitely fake! This would have came out of the wood work a long time ago with it being associated with a popular IP. Red Zone WAS, however, hinted at being some sort of version of Star Fox in a few magazines back in the day if I remember correctly.

Also, I owned the entire VB collection by June 1996. I traded in a Mega Man X2, Vectorman, and Demon Crest for for a new copy of 3D Tetris (playin this for 6 hours straight one night in July is probably what hastened my need for glasses), Nester's Funky Bowling (ugh), and Jack Bros (damn good game, I replayed the shit out of it).

Not one of my better trades tbh, but who knew this stuff would be super rare one day? I did the same thing with extremely rare Dreamcast, NGPC, Saturn, and PSX games. :/

I was also calling Nintendo once a week asking WTF Dragon Hopper was up until that Oct. I used to be an addicted little Nintendo freak.

Re: Review: Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)

TurboTEF

@Muddy_4_Ever

Yup, been my strat since 2005 when I skipped the HD Twins and just stuck with my PC(the HD master)/NDS/Wii. I generally enjoy Nintendo games and MMOs more anyway and for the past 7 years, lots of Japanese indie/3rd party games have been coming to PC so I've been quite content and will stick with this.

As for Metroid, it'll be the last retail game I get on my 3DS as its the only reason I'm keeping the console (that and the $700 worth of games/ambassador I bought digitally since Nintendo doesn't believe in proper cross platform stuff).

Re: Video: Lego Dimensions Brings Teen Titans, Powerpuff Girls And Beetlejuice To Wii U

TurboTEF

@Bunkerneath

I saw the original in the theater in the late 80s and I can't wait to see the sequel.

I'm a huge fan of cheesy (some are decent) sequels to decades old movies/shows. I also love Teen Titans Go (even though its hated by most TT fans because they somehow think its ruined their show that was cancelled 6 years earlier for whatever reason) even though I like the original more. I'm just glad they kept the same VAs for each iteration of the characters.

Gremlins 3 should be a hoot as well.

Re: Namco Museum Won't Gobble Up Too Much Memory On Your Switch

TurboTEF

Just include about 9 more games or so and it would have been worth it. Nothing will ever beat the value of the Taito arcade collections I got 10+ years ago for my Xbox.

I would have spent $30 for a physical copy for Splatterhouse alone though.

I'll see what happens first, sale, physical re-release later, or a Steam collection.

Re: Video: Rare Footage Of Sega's Epcot Innoventions Installation Appears Online

TurboTEF

@Neon_Blues That's unfortunate as you missed out on quite a lot of great games.

My best friend was the same until I gave him my Genesis (original model with the clearer soundchip) along with all of the Sonic (I let him borrow all of the good games I had as well) games in 1995. He finally gave up Nintendo with the N64 game dry spells in the late 90s and got a PSX in 1998. We both got a Gamecube on launch in 2001 though and a Nintendo DS and Wii as well.

Its unfortunate that he cannot stand Nintendo anymore due to their asinine youtube rules and supply issues and only uses his PC now. He still might get a Switch to play some multiplayer (we still play together with certain PC games mind you) with me though.

Its just funny how that worked out as I used to own both Nintendo and Sega but always favored Sega while he was the Mega Nintendo Nerd and hated Sega. Now I'm the Super Nintendo Freak and he plays a lot of Sega games on Steam.

Re: Pocket Rumble Misses March Launch Window, Devs "Unable To Comment" On Release Date

TurboTEF

@Physis

Yeah, I've been anticipating this one as well and will wait patiently for it. I owned a Neo Geo Pocket Color (3 with color variations) and all of the fighting games for it 17+ years ago

It still baffles me that SNK hasn't tried doing NGPC collections on the DS/3DS/consoles/PC yet. Maybe it'll finally happen on the Switch as I would love them to work an agreement with Capcom to get Match of the Millennium and Cardfighter's Clash released on newer platforms.
