Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 'Pro' Reveal Expected Before E3, Out This Year

TurboTEF

@F_T_Wolf

People worried about price just need to get over it as honestly $399 isn't a lot of money anymore, especially for device upgrades every 4-5 years.

If a poor 15 year old kid (at the time in 1995) like me with no job could swing a Sega Saturn and Virtual Boy (with games) with odd jobs, then any kid or adult determined to have a new Switch will eventually get one.

If not, they can grab the current model or Lite and be satisfied with that until the new one gets cheaper or the next upgrade comes out in another 4-5 years.

Re: Feature: Bringing SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match Of The Millennium To Switch After Two Decades

TurboTEF

@JayJ Dude, it was glorious! I actually wish I could go back and relive playing and buying everything Dreamcast/Capcom from launch day (Power Stone was one of the five I picked up at launch, with Marvel Vs Capcom picked up that October) to 2001.

Late 2000 was just amazing! Capcom Vs SNK, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Cannon Spike, and that's just the Capcom games.

I also had ALL of the NGPC fighters for my fighting fix on work breaks and the bus rides to and from work.

TurboTEF

@BionicDodo Please do this HORI or SNK! The Switch is perfect for having custom parts like the excellent NGPC stick!

Now I can finally play the best Metal Slug games again! Metal Slug Mission 2 was the last NGPC game I picked up from Funcoland in mid 2000.

Luckily I only picked up MotM digital so picking up the rest in the eventual physical release is less painful.

Re: Wonder Boy - Asha In Monster World Director Explains Why He Chose That Divisive 2.5D Art Style

TurboTEF

@DrDaisy Its a holdover from the 32-bit era, I'll always call 2D games with 3D backgrounds 2.5D games. BUG (this and Klonoa fit the description better) and Clockwork Knight on the Saturn back in 1995 were my first ones.

As a fan of sprites and 2.5D games, I am actually glad they went this route as it distinguishes itself from the other recent games in the series even if it doesn't look quite as good. It'll still look good years from now though because of its simplicity.

Besides, the gorgeous sprite-based original will be on the cartridge in all its glory for alternative play throughs.

Re: Random: Talented Hacker Bumps The Frame Rate Of SNES Race Drivin' From 4fps To 30

TurboTEF

@Enigk Nope, I avoided most 30fps (2D games) in the past starting with the horrible B.O.B. game after I bought it in early 1994 for the Genesis (it was 60fps on the SNES btw). Getting my Dreamcast in 1999 was the start of being a true frame rate snob when it came to console games. I gave passes to Nintendo with Zelda/Mario but would avoid just about anything else.

I also prefer unlocked frame rates because that usually allows for correction later on. I always play with unlocked FPS on my PC as it doesn't bother me if it stays above 60/120.

Re: Review: Gal*Gun Returns - A Mechanically Basic Yawn-Fest

TurboTEF

@HydroTendonMan implication is faaaaar different than a real situation between actual individuals, buddy.

End of the day, its still not real and no one gets hurt.

If real people were involved I'd bend them in half in a heartbeat and have the brute strength to do so.

You can't have you cake and eat it too with comparisons like that, guy.

You can mince that in your little world as much as you like but I'll still be correct in the end.

Re: Review: Gal*Gun Returns - A Mechanically Basic Yawn-Fest

TurboTEF

@HydroTendonMan They're polys/pixels on a screen that don;t have or feel emotion, or care about anything going on outside of the game. They don't need defending or moral grandstanding from the peanut gallery in hopes of scoring internet brownies points from losers.

I don't even get off on this stuff and just enjoy the game for the absurdity of it all. Even if someone got off on this crap, I might judge them a little but never fully condemn them for it.

Its not real and you're pretty damn silly (and should feel silly) for trying to be the moral police over it.

Re: Review: Gal*Gun Returns - A Mechanically Basic Yawn-Fest

TurboTEF

@Ooyah I actually don't have a problem with his review even though they should really have someone that actually appreciates these types of games more to review them even if they don't give them favorable reviews. Saying that, I am more annoyed by the anti-fan service crowd here in the comments trying to act morally superior over a videogame.

I haven't liked prudes since 1992 and will never stop fighting them.

Re: Video: Here's Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Looking Stunning In 4K, 60FPS

TurboTEF

Same with the Dreamcast which finally gave me 60fps arcade perfect ports when I picked up mine that early Sept 1999.

Nintendo seems to be the only one that still gives me that same feeling of wonder when it comes to their games and limited hardware.

That says a lot as someone that has a souped up gaming PC rig (3700X, 32g of ram, RX 6800XT, etc)

Re: Video: Here's Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Looking Stunning In 4K, 60FPS

TurboTEF

@Clyde_Radcliffe as much as I like my 1440p/4k 60+ fps visuals, I have to agree, this game and the early Saturn/PSX games did fantastic jobs of conveying larger than observed worlds with the hardware limitations at the time. It gave me hope and wonder of what else I'd be seeing out of these machines as time moved on. 1994-1998 was a magical time in gaming/tech where anything was almost possible and seemed impossible when pulled off.

Re: Review: Gal*Gun Returns - A Mechanically Basic Yawn-Fest

TurboTEF

@monterxz

ALWAYS funny and will never get old. Its even more funny that I don't even get off on stuff like this, I just like supporting it because it strives to be different and pisses people off. Drawings/sprites/polygons are not real and people need to get over it.

I've been fighting prudes on the left (I'm a liberal) and right for decades and it seems that'll never stop it seems. Lots of Resetera users on here too if you really pay attention.

Re: The First Review For Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Is Now In

TurboTEF

@DavidMac Indeed, its my favorite 3D Mario game as well and the amount of hate it received on various forums back in 2013 still astounds me. This will be my 3rd time buying the game and I'll be keeping it this time.

The additions and improvements to this version will make future replays more fun.

I was really hoping for a playable Daisy though....

Re: Wonder Boy - Asha in Monster World Gets A New Trailer And Fresh Details

TurboTEF

@RR529 They are great looking and will still look good 10-20 years from now because of its simplicity and cel-shading.

For some reason people have been getting spoiled on pixel/hand drawn sprites and totally crapping on 2.5D looking games (a style I've enjoyed greatly since first experiencing it in early Saturn/PSX games).

Now if this is 30fps, that would be unacceptable IMO but at least I'll have the 60fps original on the cart as well.

Re: Feature: How Takara Brought SNK's Arcade Fighters To The Humble Game Boy

TurboTEF

Indeed, I had them all and really enjoyed them!

The GameGear version of Virtua Fighter was really fun and impressive too and I played it more than my Saturn copy because of the goofy anime story and portable.

I forgot about them all once I got my NeoGeo Pocket Color in late summer 1999.

God I wish I could go back and relive August 1999-Dec 2002 again. So many good games and remakes across the NGPC, GBC/GBA, DC, and GC.
