If you were like us glued to your screen in our live-blog, know that the Western versions of the latest Nintendo Direct omitted one very crucial fact: 'Senran Kagura' is coming to the Switch with HD Rumble used to simulate, erm... well, please watch the video where series producer Kenichiro Takaki explains the concept.

Disturbing and amusing in equal doses. There is no set date for the game to be released yet, but be assured if no-one in the west picks the game up for release, region free import gaming will save the day for all the series fans out there. You know who you are!

Better than the entire U.S./Europe Directs.
Big shout out to @Cfgk24 for the news tip. I didn't want to mention he was the source in order to keep his reputation safe. Don't worry buddy, I got your back!
You stay classy, Japan.
I wonder if the right joycon will feel slightly heavier then the left?
Sorry as I couldn't resist and no I don't want this game one bit but kudos to those that do....
This guy should be given money and power.
...I'm getting this... (blushes in embarrassment)
CANNOT WAIT!!!! Now bring the rest of the series with it!!!
@Shiryu ha ha! Gaming is for EVERYONE! My GF though this was one of the highlights of the DIRECT as we sat and watched English and Japanese Directs simultaneously!.
Also Shiryu - this is the article that had to be written!
( I wonder how many PS4 and XBONE players will SWITCH uo because of HD RUMBLE JIGGLE PHYSICS! )
Oh, my… YES!
Will definitely import if this is deprived of a Western release a la Dead or Alive Xtreme 3.
A good chunk of the games, if not all of em, have made it to Europe. Pretty certain we're getting this.
@Spoony_Tech Apparently. . . .Flesh coloured Joycon with a soft finish are to be released at the same time as this game!
The kind of game that was bound to happen, isn't it.
I've just watched the video and… oh my… this has got to be one of the most ridiculous things that I've ever seen.
Thank you, Japan. XD
Heh, don't even have to play the video to know where this is going.
Finally, a Senran Kagura game on a Nintendo home console.
Hentai Dating Rumble?
stereotypes are bad, but some are close to completely accurate.
OMG!!! this will sell the Switch even more in Japan.
@DarkKirby the Switch is region free you know.
@feelinsupersonic Trust me, that game will sell like hot cakes in Japan.
Lol! So, is this a beat'em up like on 3ds or what?
Great and silly fun video. No blushes in Japan, lol
@feelinsupersonic Your avatar isn't helping to establish your position of disdain...
if they would just make the average anime girl four years older, i'd be on board with all of it
I've never played any game in the series. Is it good?
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!! That video is freaking hilarious. I'm a girl but I'm buying this game.
I don't understand Japanese, but I understand this better than Salmon Run.
Now bring the water pistol game. Is this an actual Senran game or more of a "dating" thing?
I'm just sitting here, waiting for the comments about the objectification of photons and pixels. I'll buy this if it comes westwards.
I hope they're pudding in a lot of effort with the gameplay and take some pointers from Valkyrie Drive Bhikkuhni's fast-flowing combat.
@Ryu_Niiyama im getting this as well.
btw great job with programming the comment section. so easy to ignore a user!
This is literally simulating feeling school girls' breasts... Am I only the only one with any objection to this?
@EllenJMiller Oh you...
@EverythingAmiibo
No. The schoolgirl thing is a major turnoff even as a joke, but such is Japan. They're barely high school age.
@feelinsupersonic I read every comment made to my posts. We care quite a lot about everyone here on the site.
I'm glad this wasn't in the version I watched. I'd be on board if it were Sakura Wars, though.
@Shiryu don't know what you're referring to, but good to know.
Sigh... why am I interested in this...
This Japanese Nintendo Direct was on point with everything they showed! I'm happy I watched this one instead of one of the most likely bland Western focused Directs.
I'm hoping for a Life/Hometown bundle with this!
@liljmoore Surprisingly yes.
@EverythingAmiibo No you aren't but the SK gameplay is actually good. Also after a point you have to laugh to keep from crying so to speak. Many women will find this funny or shrug and go "Japan/neckbeards/weeboo/whatever" and move on.
@Torakaka that's good to hear. I know I watch some of the anime. But was unsure of the game. Alright I'll give it a try
Hahahaha.., LoL I love it . Now the PS4 or the Xbox can't do this now can they, Hahaha..
Never Japan, never change.
@shaneoh
The objectification of pixels is super problematic and oppressive. Also patriarchy.
This game is disgusting. If the characters were adults I would have no problem with it. There is no need for media like this. With it being sexualized children, this is doing nothing good to the psychology of the people who play it. http://inthemisosoup.blogspot.com/2011/02/japans-kawaii-culture-into-question.html http://www.colabo-official.net/english/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JK_business
Bring it!!!
@EverythingAmiibo @Ryu_Niiyama My Wife is Japanese - she found it hilarious! These are young women - not children. but hey! Senran Kagura always sparks off an interesting debate on Nintendo Life.
But if you are not Japanese - I wouldn't ask you to understand a Japanese game or japanese culture. . .
@cfgk24 Like I said, "Many women will find this funny" as did I. I do find it a widdle embarrassing though. Merely because I feel like I have to explain I'm not into anime like that.
My girlfriend and her friends will love this.
We were born too late to explore the world.
We were also born too early to explore the galaxy.
But we were born just in time to see the golden age of waifus.
God must be proud of us.
@Dezzy
I see the picket line now:
"One dead pixel is one too many!
"Pixel lives matter!"
"Say NO! to resolution shaming."
"I was forced to be blue, when I wanted to be red!"
Haha, allllllrighty then.
Slow down, Japan. Their technology is rendering women obsolete. =P
Oh yes. This is the true purpose of HD Rumble. For feeling pudding, balls, and udders. Preferably a combination of all three. Oh yes. You all knew this day would come, didn't you? Were any of you really so naïve and innocent as to believe the result would be any less? Oh yes.
The Beast calls your name, but you do not answer. You fear the truth. You fear truth's salvation. The end of your time is nigh, mortals. God has come to reap the sinners. Step into the light and cleanse yourself. Cleanse yourself from what you have seen. There is still time. An escape? There is one, but it comes with a price... Your soul. Your dignity. Your being.
Eh, it's a small price to pay.
@sillygostly Isn't it the other way around? A man can't incubate a child, can they?
...This comment section is off the rails.
sigh
Why am I not surprised...
....
This doesn't surprise me at all after playing the rest of the series. Day 1 for me. xD
Day -1 for me! Japanese marvel!!!!!
I came here mostly for the comment section, as we all knew where this was going to go when we read the headline, and I don't think I'd buy this game though the concept is surely hilarious, intriguing and disturbing, all at once.
I was right. I'm proud of you guys
So we're already heading to a Vita situation here, where 3rd party support will mainly consist of mediocre, niche japanese games. Yeah, Switch is looking great...lol
@Yasume switch is nowhere near vita situation cause sony didnt support it as much and the over priced sd card also did it in.
http://i.imgur.com/Ptyzk.jpg
Jiggle physics aside there is actually really awesome combat. But it still makes me look like a perv so I will get it for my gf and cross my fingers and toes in hope that she likes it... and that there is a local 2 player mode
i thought they'd bring over the splatoon in bikinis game, peach beach splash, but yeah okay.
LOL
DAY ONE PURCHASE!
seriously though, I'd give it a look see
Lol, I'll probably get this.
Why. .. Just why
Finally bouncing onto the Switch!
So the first game that most people will be playing with the curtains down has bin revealed for the switch ^^
Why u gotta be so doe?
@AlanJones84 Truly - we are married lol but I'm so used to using GF term on inter webs. - @Shiryu has seen the wedding pics.
We are both very very young at heart. .
Oh my God! I'm dying! 8'D
That's awesome in all the wrong ways XD
But I hope the game will have... you know... actual gameplay? The best part of the Senran Kagura serie is their shameless fusion of fun gameplay with exagerated fanservice, glad they went overboard and did such "in-depht" reserch on the latter, but do NOT forget the former Mr. Takaki >o<
Does this game comes with it's own cow milking mini game?
The Sir Mix-a-lot of the Game Dev world?
There's no way I could resist getting a game that has such a creative and ingenious use of HD Rumble. This is way better than guessing how many ice cubes are in a glass.
My jaw half fell when the flan pudding appeared and I started to piece together what he was on about.
The silicon jelly balls (or whatever they were) been scientifically examined helped it drop the other half.
I've bought the other Senran Kagura games for 3DS & Vita under the argument that the gameplay and story is still decent.
This is gonna be a hard sell.
I can see the British tabloid headlines: "Nintendo to have Schoolgirl Breast Groper Simulator!" (Regardless of whether it's true or not)
"Nintendo is just for kids"
@crimsontadpoles : "Hmm… how many breasts am I holding?"
I think I'll buy this, eh, for a friend. Yes, for a friend...
Still waiting for someone to highlight how good the stories in these games are. The comment sections of the other Senran Kagura games were always a blast.
I can see why this was omitted in the Western Nintendo Directs...
So... Switch HD Rumble > PlayStation VR?
Quality research!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! I've been hoping Takaki would bring some Senran Kagura goodness to the Switch, and the man doesn't disappoint! Can't wait to get touchy-feely with dem waifus huehue.
Oh my word.
@RainbowGazelle Depends if you prefer groping to motorboating....
Most likely be grabbing this in the JP Eshop, but my japanese is not as polished as I'd like sadly. I'll probably wait to see if they cut content in the NA release before downloading (they will). The first 2 were awesome beat 'em ups. I guess I'll be watching (no pun intended).
The man is clearly pioneering research. Was hoping for a trailer haha.
I didn't need to understand Japanese to know what was going on.
Time to put out the joy-... I mean cons
This game makes me less interested in buying it but far more interested in eating jelly. Orange flavor. With ice cream on the side.
To me after watching that video I feel a little bit dirty, I'm sorry but video games systems should not be mixed with sex. They should call that game pedo bear goes to school.
Wow. I like the SK games on Vita but this was hilarious. I doubt this will be showcased at Toys R Us LOL.
Are those physics only limited to the part they focus on? Should be "open world".
This is just fantastic xD. Funny how Nintendolife consider this "disturbing" but it's ok with killing and robbing in PayDay 2. I will never understand western moral standars.
ROFL...take that, PlayStation VR!!!
On a more serious note, kinda surprised that made it into a Nintendo Direct, even if it was just Japan.
Still ROFL!
Huh first game to make me want a switch
@Billsama - I'm the same. I never understand how some think it's bad to simulate something legal (sex), but OK to simulate murder and other crime.
Senran Kagura isn't really what it seems they told me. It actually has a fantastic story and excellent gameplay mechanics, they told me. Then we get a Nintendo delivered promo about SK's extensive research into using the controllers to simulate accurate exaggerated jiggle physics.
I wonder what censoring FE2018 will need?
@BlueKnight07 Remember what made BluRay secure itself as standard over HDDVD and what industry drove that
This is why Japan is the greatest country in the world!
@Camilla
They didn't support it,hmm they published 63 games for it. Yes the memory cards were expensive but it works out cheaper than all the bells and whistles you will need for switch, like extra joy-con for mates to use or game controller plus other extras. Vita is a great handheld but it's time is coming to a end, the Switch will take over with Japanese and indie support. Vita will probably limp out late 2018, the Switch should be established by then, and good luck to it
I enjoyed the senran games on vita but the biggest problem was the mindless repetitive button mashing, I very quickly got bored of them, every level, fight was so repetitive. Also the bouncy antics was dull after a short time. Yes I enjoyed them for a short while but I won't buy another again
@EllenJMiller I see what you did there!
@NintySnesMan

No disrespect to Vita. You know I'm a Vita owner and I loved that console from the very first day I bought it. Unlike a lot of people here I look at what system does offer rather than what it doesn't. And I will keep my Vita for a long time to come.
That being said, Sony didn't properly support the Vita. I haven't counted how many games they published but I've purchased every single game they released physically and even imported, and while they did support it very well for the first couple years, they quickly abandoned it afterwards. And the problem was compounded by the fact most of their games were mediocre, or PS2 ports equivalent to Rayman 3D on 3DS, only with worse framerates. Support isn't only about quantity but quality. Natural Doctrin, Freedom Wars, LBP, Resistance... all meh, there was a Ratchet collection and Jak collection and Sky Cooper collection and God of War collection, which were ok I guess (some were downright horrible ports though) and even the games like PS All Stars, Tearaway, and Unit 13 were decent at best. Even their best game, Uncharted, fell considerably short when compared to say, a console Uncharted. Wipeout was the best game they put out, imo.
And while it is $70 for an extra controller on Switch, what was the cost of playing multiplayer on Vita? An entirely separate system ($250). So that's not exactly cheaper to play multiplayer games. And when it launched 32gb cards were $100. Prices dropped eventually but not by that much. And the system came with zero memory so you couldn't even download a patch or an update without buying one of those expensive proprietary memory cards.
I'm not saying Switch is perfect by any means, and I'm not trying to pit the two against each other like it's a competition, but it's on board storage is as much as the largest memory card sold for Vita in the west (which even now is still $80). With Switch, you don't really need a memory card like you did on Vita. And even if you do buy one it's a lot cheaper for standard microSD (64gb is less than $15 I think?). And extra controllers are an expense all consoles have for multiplayer, which is still cheaper than needing to buy a second system for MP like Vita required. And really, the system has 2 detachable controllers out of the box so, playing co-op in Rayman Legends on Switch can be done without any additional purchase. Playing the game on Vita will require a 2nd $200 system and a memory card for each (since the co-op was patched in).
@Yasume Big thanks to NintendoLife's staff for adding an Ignore button.
Time to test it out on you so I don't have to read your crap on every page anymore, coz I was getting really tired of that breathes a sigh of relief. Every online site should have ignore buttons, makes life so much more enjoyable ^_^
On-topic: Japan, please never change xd
@JaxonH
Have to agree with much you said, many of the games they published were OK or just not worth a purchase. Jak and dexter was a shoddy port, killzone and uncharted for me was their best 2 games, Wipeout certainly ranks high though. Got to say though a game like Tearaway or even LBP would sell loads on switch,especially Tearaway it reminds me of something Ninty would make, completely different and refreshing. I don't mind ports, if they are well executed then it's OK, like GOW, like many ports if not treated correctly will harm a systems reputation, as in this case with jak and dexter, rachet and clank, Sony sure went downhill in my opinion with those ports. Anyways onto cost, most if not all vita owners play online not ad-hoc, meaning you only need 1 system to be fair, online is free. For switch to play local play you would need more joy-con once there are more than 2 of you and there will be many games that will in the future, more expense on traditional controllers if you want them, many will still buy decent size memory cards, extra dock systems, paid online in the future year in year out, games more expensive plus many other accessories. All this is optional apart from paid online, but you know as well as me people will fork out for all this extra cost, I certainly would if I had a switch lol, I wouldn't be able to stop myself. Your right though there is no point in making comparison, they are nothing alike and thus should be treated so. Hell yeah the Sony memory cards were and still are expensive, though the price has dropped, but I still feel like I get ripped off when I buy one, afterall if your a vita fan then you will need a few because owning a vita forces you to download games only available on psn, that is my biggest gripe with vita,
@NintySnesMan
That's a fair point, the free online. Although at $20 a year (think it's $20/yr? Maybe it was $25) I can't say I'm really offput at all by online on Switch. Free is definitely better though. For sure.
I will admit, I am a sucker for accessories. I just love having 100 different little gadgets and cases and extra controllers and all that stuff. I don't really need any of it aside from the 256gb microSD and tempered glass screen (I buy physical but I also buy a ton of VC and digital exclusives and indies- I used 220gb on Wii U as a physical only gamer). But it's fun to have. 5 sets of Joycons and here I am ordering the yellow pair lol (well, one pair is for second Switch and one stays in backpack for full system travel. I really like those joy cons though- not the yellow, I mean, just Joycons in general. They're cool controllers. I play split Joycon in each hand and love it so much more than the Pro controller or grip. Although I will admit, the grip is pretty comfy. Surprisingly so.
Anyways, I don't mind either way because I know gaming cost money. I may have not been happy about it but I never really complained about the Vita memory cards. I just accepted it as something I needed to do. My real issue was that even importing, 64gb was the cap. I hated deleting games and rotating them out, because I just disliked the idea of having multiple cards.
If Sony ever does another handheld, I hope they follow Switch's lead. It's just really really practical and convenient to play full console games on TV, and just grab it and go and play like a handheld. Prop up on a kickstand, slide off controllers and play like it's a console anywhere. I would be all over that. Heck, MS too. Although I know that'll never happen. But Sony, I could definitely see that. They've already got a patent I think. But it would need to play real console games, and it would need their best devs on it with choice games, and standard SD expansion.
It's a good time to be a gamer though. Got nice power systems with PS4 Pro and soon Scorpio, and this cool little hybrid system Switch... 3DS is still getting great games and PC is going strong. Even Vita has a few games still coming (although honestly I don't know of any that I am excited for at the moment, usually it gets one or two games every year that I like)
@JaxonH
I see what your saying about a new Sony handheld, they attempted something like it with vita games on pstv but it wasn't correctly initiated it would be great if they did another handheld but not sure about a switch clone, Ninty are doing everything right with with switch so far, can't see how Sony could improve on this formula apart from adding more apps for music, films, chat just like on vita really. They could make it more powerful and better GPU but handhelds shouldn't be about that. I never thought vita brought people together when out and about, only when online playing killzone or in message chat with a group of virtual friends, the Switch is bringing ppl together out side into groups, it's like taking your living room with you when you would gather and play the likes of Goldeneye. The switch certainly got this right, actually it's got most things right. If I have a gripe it's not the switch but me, I think I am out growing alot of Ninty franchises, I can't play another one of their platformers, I am limited to what Ninty can offer me, I just hope that one day they will start making mature games aswell as all their normal stuff, afterall it can't do no harm
@AlanJones84 Thanks man!
@AlanJones84 I call my fiancé my girlfriend all the time. It happens when you date for a long time.
@NintySnesMan
Like I say, play what you enjoy and skip the rest.
I don't care about mature or not, I just care if it's fun and grabs me. Very few platformers grab me nowadays, but the Donkey Kong Country games always do. Maybe cause I grew up with them but also cause they're difficult.
But Zelda for sure, and Xenoblade 2, and Skyrim, and Fire Emblem, and Shin Megami Tensei V and Dragon Quest XI. Those are the big, meaty games I'm looking forward to. But games like Mario Kart 8 and Arms and Splatoon will be good too, just a different kind of game. More quick match play with others. Which is good cause I do enjoy playing with others. Mario Odyssey looks like a return to form though.
If they bring a Monster Hunter and a Metroid, I'll be set. Pretty hopeful in seeing both at e3 this year. And normally I wouldn't say that, but there's a lot of evidence suggesting both games are coming. Beyond that, I don't really care which specific games they bring. I like diversity... as long as they're good
All they have to do is put copies of this game in the same vending machines that have used women's panties and boom, instant yen.
@NinjaSyao Can't block staff members for some reason though. Seems kind of an odd choice considering they can afford to be more outspoken and not have any consequences....
Life and Hometown are here to keep the world a better place yet again!
I hope my joycons don't get messy.
That's a tasty looking flan!
Oh dear I don't think this is a Switch game for me. I prefer my games to be cutesy and innocent. But uh, interesting to see how the Joycons can be used.
It was bound to happen.
I guess there will be no shortage of interesting uses that games can provide with the HD rumble :v
Lol: This is exactly what 3D Rumble was made for!
Let's hope Team Ninja bring the next Dead or Alive game to the Switch. At the very least bring DOA Xtreme 3.
For life and hometown
