Re: Feature: How One Nintendo Christmas Shaped The Rest Of My Life

@WaveBoy

Seriously, SMB2 was like a virtual playground of what can I get away with while playing. From 1988-1992 I exploited the hell out of the game and learned a lot of the little shortcuts and glitches on my own.

Anyway, I got my own NES in 1988 but we had one in the house all of 1987/88 with Gyromite, Punch-Out, SMB, Duckhunt, Super Pitfall, and Mega Man. It belonged to my uncle that was staying with us at the time.

Seriously, using the NGPC micro switch thumbstick was amazing and I wanted that bad boy on my GBC back in late 1999.

Having a joycon option of that would be amazing!

Saying that, I still have no issue playing any 2D game with the regular direction buttons.

I agree and I never played that portion of the game either. So I get a portable version of the best 2D Mario game (IMO) and a game I never got while on the Wii U. I've double and tripled-dipped on worst games TBH.

The Shantae and the Pirates Curse (my 3rd time buying it, already have the 3DS and PC versions) physical was a total waste of my money compared to this purchase.

@SalvorHardin

That fact you got downvoted makes me lose faith in people wanted a great gaming experience on a machine that does 60fps MK8 in portable for a game in the same genre.

If the Switch version turns out to be a turd, I'll just have to wait for the eventual PC release.

Also, I feel very sorry for anyone that missed out on CTR back in 1999 as it was better than any kart racer on the N64.

Re: Indie Devs Explain Why Their Games Are Successful On Nintendo Switch

TurboTEF

I only double dip on certain titles on my Switch, otherwise I stick to indies on PC where I can probably still play/download these 20+ years later. If I can get a favorite on physical for my Switch, that's even better though!

I'm glad these guys are doing better on the Switch though. Some of these brilliant titles deserve the success.

Yup, seeing these overly-sensitive self-loathing types ruin three of my favorite forums in the past 10 years with their absurd demands and constant complaints has earned nothing but my contempt for them.

Kinda sucks to hate other liberals as a liberal but it is what it is; I hate political correctness and censorship with a passion. Seeing that Sony censorship stuff happening is bringing the 90s (and Wii U days) back and not in a good way.

One good thing about this news article is that I get to finally exercise the ignore button!

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo Switch SKU Planned For Late 2019

@zool
Pretty much, the switch is essentially just a tablet pc using a simple SoC. Games can scale on each new and old unit if programmed to do so. That makes sense if you paid attention to the time frame Nintendo wants to keep the Switch relevant as well as their 10(20 was it?)+ year contract with Nvidia.

I'll gladly take an improved Switch for improved portable mode performance alone.

Re: Experience PlayStation One Era Graphics On Switch With Survival Horror Back In 1995

@Tiefseemiez

While I definitely like and very much prefer the graphical fidelity we have today (even 2D indie games like Momadora IV, Freedom Planet, Rabi-Ribi, etc look better than 2D games from that time period did), I still very much like that 1994-1999 32-bit aesthetic. That gaming time period as a teenager was almost magical and I couldn't wait to see what was going to be shown next. Even the Virtual Boy and 32X got my imagination running towards potential and mysterious delights.

I collected bottles, mowed lawns, and worked on a farm (1995-1998) to get a Sega Saturn in early fall 1995. I got a Virtual Boy for Xmas that year. Love it all and got made fun of for my Virtual Boy!

I can still appreciate stuff like this, and its very nice to see indies stray away from the overused 2D (still love it btw) stuff for a change.

Re: Video: Take A Look At Square Enix's Trailers From The 2018 Tokyo Game Show

TurboTEF

If they're physical releases, I'll get World of Final Fantasy (PC version runs at 30fps anyway, lol)and Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon. If FF:CC is looking that rough and not running at 60fps, I may opt for the PC version. . Kinda sad for a 2003 GC game to be looking like that in an "HD remaster" Its still early though so anything can change tbf.

Re: Random: Father Steals "Gameboy DS" From Prize Machine With Help Of His Daughter

That reminds me of the one time in late 1988 when my mom and her two girlfriends broke into a Detroit factory area that handled glass soda/beer bottle recycling.

They came back with with multiple bags and then took me along with their two girls and made us carry some back as well. It was very dark, smelly, and lots of broken glass everywhere. Very exciting tbh! They almost got caught too, lol.

They ordered three large pizzas, got pop and beer, and rented a Nintendo (Super Pitfall, womp womp) game for us.

Re: Super Butoden Will Remain Exclusive To Dragon Ball FighterZ Pre-Orders

TurboTEF

I always hated stupid decisions like that and I've had that rom (and hundreds of other SNES, Gens, TG16, NES etc) for 15+ years now. Poop on them as well, for not giving me the same deal for preordering it on Steam earlier this year.

Its a super subpar fighter (the SNES game mind you) anyway, so really no reason for me to be salty.
