Re: Mailbox: Switch 2 Price Drops, Remake Replacements, Pokémon Acquisitions - Nintendo Life Letters

I bought Splatoon 3 on a e-shop sale for $40. I would not have given it a try for any more than that.
Now I have spent 1000+ hours in that game.
Would I spend $80 on the next Splatoon if I had to? Probably. But also probably the only game that I could justify myself paying such a price.

I also bought mario kart 8 deluxe on a sale for $40 + the DLC. I still have not played all the tracks.
Will I buy World for $80? No.

Someone else probably have the opposite experience.
Pricing games must be a nightmare.

$80 is a price for for die hard fans of a certain game, I can't see massive mainstream sales... will be interesting to see.

I think we are still going to see Nintendo having e'shop sales on World in a year or two...

In Sweden Mariokart 8 delux has been sold for the equivalent of $66 USD.
Nintendo is now listing Mariokart world for the equivalent of $100!
Inflation has not been that bad, and we have no new tariffs etc.

That is a...bold jump.
So I think different parts of the world are upset to a different degree depending on how hard Nintendo is testing the local waters.

I think this will be a hard sell.

Prior to the reveal I was set for a day one buy.
Just to play my existing library on better HW was incentive enough... I thought.
I expected that my current games should obviously run better.

Now it seems very unclear.
It baffles me that they failed to explain the Switch 1 games situation.
Some will not work?, some will have problems?, and if you want any(?) benefit of the new HW a patch is needed... a patch you possibly have to pay for...??

How can this essential question be left hanging?

I'll keep my money for now!

Re: 'Switch 2 Editions' Are Supposedly A Switch Game Card And Download Code For The Upgrade Pack

TrogdorTheBurninator

This is confusing!

So, if I get this right, they sell a Switch 1 card with a switch 2 download... In a Switch 2 box?

IMO:
1) The name should have been: BOTW + Switch 2 upgrade download.
Calling it BOTW Switch 2 edition absolutely sounds like a Switch 2 game.
Especially since:

2) The new box and design indicates that this is a Switch 2 game, not a Switch 1 game.
How is it obvious when a Switch 2 game, like e.g. Mariokart World, is just a Switch 2 only game?
They should definitely have made a distinct design difference for these types of releases.
Now Nintendo is fine printing its customers instead, I for one do not like it. There will probably be one or two confused parents.

3) If I buy a physical game I do that because I want the game on the card. Here I do not get that, so what is the point?
They already sell the switch 1 game, and the download for Switch 2 separately? This will only cause confusion (as is obviously the case already).
I already have the switch 1 game (most people do). I would have liked the whole thing on a Switch 2 card:

4) For some unbelievable reason the DLC seems not to be included!?
This is a Wii-U game, this is the third generation they sell this game, it is done, finished. They should put the entire thing on the card.
Now we do not know what happens to the DLC, If you have it already, will it be upgraded with this download or will that remain with Switch 1 quality? Will they sell a separate download for the DLC later?

Im happy to see that at least some people seem to like this relase
