Juggling two consoles is hard work for some, but not for Nintendo. While the Switch 2 is the primary focus for the Big N, don't ever count the Switch 1 out. 2025 was a busy one, with the Switch 2's launch really filling out the roster and finally giving us some long-awaited titles and big launch-window hitters, but 2026 sees Nintendo branching out a little bit.

Leading the charge on Switch 2 from the Big N are Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

There's a lot to look forward to. We've rounded up the games coming to Nintendo Switch systems in 2026 we're most looking forward to - and make sure you let us know what you're most excited for in the comments.

It was only a matter of time before Konami announced the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, and yes, Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally be available on consoles other than PS3.

Alongside that, we're also getting Ghost Babel and Peace Walker. And the package is coming to Switch 1 as well; we're definitely curious to see how MGS4 holds up on the older system.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Switch 2

Launch date

Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (Game-Key Card)

Here's a port everyone expected — Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which includes the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and some brand new character classes, introduced for the new version.

You've surely heard of this GOTY winner from 2022; "open-world Souls" is the phrase often banded around. While early demos reported performance issues, more recent footage has looked much better, and the delay into 2026 should help.

Hopefully we won't lose our temper as we get our backsides handed to us over and over again.

DayZ, the zombie survival game that started life as an Arma 2 mod in the 2010s, arrives on a Nintendo platform some seven years after it first made the leap to consoles.

This 'Cool Edition' features the base game, the Livonia map and 2024's Frostline expansion, as well as a suite of platform-specific features - from mouse controls and gyro aiming, to touchscreen support in handheld mode to help make moving your inventory a little easier.

007 First Light Switch 2

Launch date
Summer 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Game-Key Card

Now here's a game we're surprised to see on Switch 2. Hitman developer IO Interactive is creating what it calls "the ultimate spycraft fantasy" in 007 First Light (originally known as Project 007), a wholly unique James Bond stealth-action game.

This Bond origin story will feature 007 as he starts life in MI6. Blending stealth gameplay with gadgets, car chases, and style galore, we'll have to wait until the summer — after the game's release on other consoles, with reviews saying it's a banger — to see how the game holds up.

Orbitals Switch 2

Launch date
3rd September 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (full game)

Amid a swathe of co-op games coming to Switch 2 in 2026, Orbitals stands out the most to us. It looks and feels like a classic anime from the '80s, and you get to explore and pilot your way through space with two charming characters. What's not to love?

You'll be searching space to try and save your crumbling space station from ruin. Outside of that and teaming up with a partner, we don't know what to expect, except what looks to be a delightful time.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Switch 2

Launch date
4th September
Platform
Switch 2

Yes (Game-Key Card)

Following Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, Capcom continues its run of Switch 2 day-in-date releases in 2026 with a long-awaited new instalment in the Onimusha series.

Set in 17th century Edo-period Kyoto, you play a lone samurai taking on the demonic Genma in carefully-considered duels.

Valheim Switch 2

Launch date
9th September, 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Unlikely

Maybe the most-surprising reveal at the February 2026 Partner Showcase, the survival viking crafting sim Valheim is coming to Switch 2 this year.

This one exploded on PC back when it dropped in early access in 2021, and it'll arrive in full 1.0 form when it finally lands on a Nintendo platform.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Switch 2

Launch date
17th September 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes

Fire Emblem is another big Nintendo series making the jump to Switch 2, and oh wow does it look good on the new console.

Set in heart of the Dagdan Empire, Fortune's Weave follows four new heroes - Cai, Dietrick, Theodora, and Leda - as they enter the Heroic Games, the winner of which is granted a wish.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Switch 2

Launch date
18th September 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (Game-Key Card)

The Bat is Back in Brick Form, and he's going open world. When it was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was our favourite reveal. Mixing in some Arkham series elements with adorable brick characters a boatload of Batman's legacy, it looks absolutely fantastic.

The Switch 2 edition is coming sometime after other platforms, and the good news is Lego Batman reviews suggest it's worth the wait. How it'll handle on Switch 2, of course, is yet to be seen.

DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition Switch 2

Launch date
24th September, 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (Game-Key Card)

A modern role-playing classic gets a new edition with an overly long title. Dragon Quest XI’s Switch 2 edition comes with new story chapters, 3D and 2D mode switching, Japanese voices (and additional English ones), an orchestral score, and a graphics or performance mode toggle.

The bad news for existing Switch owners, however, is there’s no upgrade path or save transfer, meaning you’ll be buying and playing from scratch.

Minecraft Dungeons II Switch 2

Launch date
29th September
Platform
Switch 1 & Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (Game-Key Card)

Minecraft's quietly brilliant dungeon crawling spinoff is getting a sequel. The headline is the move away from distinct levels to an interconnected overworld with dungeons to delve into.

Otherwise, expect new enemy types in tried-and-tested loot-filled gameplay, with the support of online and local co-op for four players.

Rayman Legends Retold Switch 2

Launch date
1st October 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes

Somehow, Rayman Legends returned. The game you know and love (and we love Rayman Legends, scoring the Wii U original and Switch Definitive Edition highly) has been given a new lease of life with a pseudo-3D makeover.

Expect a new visual style and regular camera changes from the familiar side-scrolling perspective, dragon rides and new map navigation between areas, and a whole new world to overcome.

The Crew Motorfest Switch 2

Launch date
8th October, 2026
Platform
Switch 1 & Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (Game-Key Card)

This third entry in Ubisoft's racing series is set in Hawaii, and was given an 8/10 score in PushSquare's review, where it was praised for its handling, variety of activities and O'ahu setting.

Some things to be aware of, however: as with the PC, PlayStation and Xbox editions it requires an online connection to play, so be wary of taking it on the move.
