Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Thumbsofsteel

I haven’t played it yet so I can’t comment on the difficulty. However I did play Hollow Knight. I thought the difficulty for HK was just right at first. Tough bosses but after numerous play-throughs I was able to overcome all obstacles…until Team Cherry added all that extra content. Finishing the base game felt just right. However some of the bosses that were added afterwards were just too brutal for me.

Tried the demo and I thought it was really beautiful but unfortunately quite boring. There’s zero combat in the demo (but I kinda assumed that from the trailer). It looks open world but I don’t think it is from what I played. You just float around collecting things like emeralds and pages from a journal. Demo does not explain anything, you just walk and float around with peaceful music and beautiful visuals. I didn’t know where to go or why (maybe that’ll be explained in the full game?). More of a very light platformer but I wasn’t a fan of the controls. There’s a delay in your jumps…which is fine I guess when you’re not in the middle of a difficult platforming section.

All in all, not for me but I’m glad there was a demo available.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Metroidvania Games

The last Metroidvania I played was Iconoclasts and I have to admit I did not enjoy it very much.

The boss battles were well done but the gameplay otherwise was boring imo. The story itself was well done but most of it was conveyed through dialogue…lots and lots of dialogue (minimal cutscenes).

Add to the fact that you don’t have many upgrades and the tweaks were treated as an afterthought (which unfortunately are also the only things you are tasked to find through exploring)

I played both Twin Snakes and the original MGS on PS1 and I enjoyed both. Mind you, I didn’t play them back to back (& to be honest this was a long time ago).

I don’t know why I’m seeing comments that the original was vastly better. Could someone shed some light as to why the original was so much better than the twin snakes remake?

Re: Talking Point: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom DLC - What Would You Have Liked To See?

Off the top of my head, I thought there were too many Rauru’s Blessings for shrines. It’s nice that they added more shrines but I found that for me at least, the last 15-20 shrines I found were almost all Rauru’s Blessings. Figuring out shrine puzzles is one of my favourite things in these new Zelda games.

Also….yeah I still miss the Hookshot/claw shot. Call me old fashioned.

Essentially anything related to the Depths. Looking back now, I didn’t approach this area the proper way.

Bad enough I never realized the correlation between Shrines and Lightroots, but I completely mishandled the whole Poe collecting aspect. I thought these were like Korok seeds, so I kept farming them and never realized what to do with them. By the time I finally figured out what to do with them, I had collected about 3000 of them.

So happy we got more info on this game. The first one was amazing, I can’t wait play the sequel. Challenging but fair, great music and some of the best pixel art I’ve seen in a while IMO. The devs added more free DLC to it so it’s even better now than originally released.
