Re: Hands On: Getting Our Feet Wet With Trials of Mana

Tried the demo last night. Really enjoyed and I think I’m gonna pick it up eventually. My only gripes were the really long intro cinematic (felt like forever to get the game going - yes I know I can skip) and the horrible voice acting (seriously bordering on comical). These are minor gripes though, won’t prevent me from getting the game.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Has Three Metroid Games In The Works, According To Leak Group

Metroid Prime Trilogy HD & MP4 would be day-1 purchases for me. A Super Metroid Remake would be too but I don't think I need this game yet...unless MP4 is still years away lol.

I will say this though; once MP4 finally gets released, I really want to see footage, interviews & screenshots of the original scrapped concept of MP4. I hope Nintendolife can pull back the curtain on the original production of the game. Maybe even learn why it was scrapped by Nintendo in the first place.

What do I think of the latest update? More like, What do you think of the latest update NL? I haven’t picked this up specifically because of what you guys (& other media outlets) thought of this game at launch.

I’m waiting to hear to hear from you now that the patch is in. Will the review get an update?

Hoping this fixes things. I had big hopes for this when it first got announced.

Re: Nightdive Studios CEO Says Shadow Man On Switch "Is Possible"

I would totally get this if it got released.

At the time this was the creepiest game I ever played by far. The first game I actually dropped my controller from being startled (fighting one of the serial killers in an abandoned house. He fell from the ceiling right in front of me after I was searching for him for what felt like forever. Also didn’t help I was playing this alone in the dark lol).

The music was excellent. One of the later levels incorporated children’s laughter with creepy spooky music.

The dialogue / voice acting was really good too imo. Very mature, some light swearing. Back then, that was something kinda new for a Nintendo system (then again, once Conker came out i think swearing wasn’t such a big deal anymore).

Mechanics could have been a bit better but I got the hang of them pretty good after a while. IIRC jumping was tricky.

Wasn’t brutally difficult but not an easy game by any means. I would shiver whenever I would hear those three words: “The sisters awake”! That meant it was go time Lol.

Played the sequel in PS2 but I felt it was inferior to the original in almost every way.

Also gotta give props for a game being released with an African American protagonist. You didn’t have many of those back then at all.

@Panopticon Did you know they released LW1&WotM on iOS at one point? Not the same with touch controls though; this game plays much better with pointer controls.

It bugs me that we never got a proper conclusion to the story. These were great relaxing games & I could totally get behind an HD compilation w/joycon controls.

Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?

Thumbsofsteel

I know this is going to sound stupid but what’s drifting? Is it when the control stick is idle but it’s still moving on screen? If so then I don’t think I’ve ever had that. I have however experienced real bad delay or no response with button presses due to loss of connection with the right joycon. Especially when playing Hollow Knight for some reason.

I could see an alternate world (not necessarily a dark world) using the same (or similar) map. Maybe that world could be the source of that green energy with the hand holding down Ganondorf. It could explain some changes to the geography. Maybe the Shrines & Castle could be areas where you go to switch between worlds. Aaannnd fingers crossed that themed or at least varied dungeons make an appearance in this alternate world.

Re: Team Cherry Teases Hollow Knight Hornet DLC Reveal Coming Later This Week

This is probably the Switch game I've sunk the most hours into. Looking forward to hear more about this but I'm not going to jump back in just yet. I've played this so much that I needed a break (I completed the game but stopped at Godmaster) & I still have a backlog I'm trying to chip away at.

Cheers to the developers though; they've given us so much on the DLC front already at no extra cost.

Re: Feature: Our Favourite Mario Party Memories

Thumbsofsteel

I can’t remember if it was MP1 or MP2, but a group of us got together and stayed up all night playing it. There was a particular brutal mini game involving Mario on a stationary bike and you had to spin the analogue stick to shine a headlight to get a Boo or something. Well we all got these huge welts on the palms of our hands trying to spin that damn controller lol. That morning we all went for coffee and compared our palms and laughed about how we got injured by a video game.

Re: Team Cherry Changes Title Of Final Hollow Knight Content Pack Due To Name Clash

Thumbsofsteel

I'm 90% in & at the end now. However I've put so many hours into it that I got tired & haven't picked it up in days to finish it. I want to get Dead Cells but I feel like another style of game beforehand. I don't want to dive into another Metroidvania game yet. I'm thinking of picking up maybe Doom or fire up Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (picked it up recently but haven't played it yet). Then, I can see myself going through another Metroidvania style game - thinking either Dead Cells, Madeleine or maybe Owl Boy. I'm liking what I'm seeing on those 3 games.

Not sure if I'll be playing Hollow Knight once the new DLC comes out.
