Re: Talking Point: Every Pre-BOTW 3D Zelda Now Has A Remake, But Which Is Best?

Thumbsofsteel

I’d say either WW or SS.

The boost in sailing really helped me enjoy this game even more. The original took too long. I could put my GC controller down, make a sandwich and be back before I got to my destination (without getting hit half the time).

The bump to 60fps is quite noticeable in SS and I gotta say, shutting up Fi alone was worth the double dip.

Makes you wonder though, would Nintendo even release a remastered version of BotW in the future? What could they improve other than 1080p and 60fps? What quality of life improvements would you see?

I can only think of NES games atm:

Zelda 2 AoL - first Zelda game I ever played back in the 80s. I liked the big 2d sprites look over the top-down look of the original.

Fester’s Quest - I hated this game but I’m including it here because I never beat it. I got to the final boss and died which meant I had to restart the whole game over again. I never played it again and therefore I would play this game again to say I finally beat it.

Deadly Towers - this game is crap but I kinda got the hang of it regardless once I used graph paper to map out the dungeon mazes.

Amagon - not a great game but I still got into it. Kinda grew on me tbh.

I’m not going pass judgement yet on potentially rehashing the overworld. There have been some minor hints and rumours that could prove it’ll be different (maybe I’m just being hopeful):

I think even though there are going to be parts where you are in the sky, there will still be underground parts as well. And if so, we have no idea how involved the cave systems could be. First trailer had Link and Zelda exploring a cave & this trailer showed a scene with Link using that fire shield that looked to take place in a cave (which to me would allude it wasn’t a shrine since those normally all looked futuristic in a way)

I’m also hearing possible time travel involved here. It’s possible the overworld will be similar but maybe different due to different timelines (depending how far in the past or future this can take place). I guess that depends on how far back or forward you go in time. If we’re only talking about a couple of years to explain the haircut changes then obviously that wouldn’t change much (other than maybe camp placements). Mind you, maybe Ganondorf rising could set off a chain of events that changes the topography.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Do More DLC For Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Or Just Release Mario Kart 9 Already?

Thumbsofsteel

Well, it’ll be 7 years later this month that MK8 was released on the WiiU. I think it’s high time they move forward with MK9.

I personally don’t care about iPhone versions or remote controlled toys.

I wish Nintendo would stop looking at the past with re-releases on the Switch and give us proper Switch exclusive sequels.

As for DLC, I’d prefer a brand new title but if I have to settle for DLC in order to get NEW content, then so be it.

Re: Review: Blue Fire - A Superb Action-Platformer That Puts Gameplay First

Personally I think an 8 is too high considering the performance issues and glitches I’ve encountered. An 8 would have fit if it wasn’t for those issues IMO.

This is probably the worst gaming performance I’ve played on Switch (mind you I haven’t played as many games as others). I’ve encountered some very sloppy frame rates during crucial platforming areas which ended up giving me headaches. That’s not the mark of a great game.

When it runs smooth though, this game can shine.

Re: Soapbox: Video Game Injuries Are No Laughing Matter

When it comes to video game injuries, only 1 comes to mind. It was Mario Party but it sure as heck wasn’t button mashing. Oh no no no no...it was that darn mini game with the exercycle. You had to spin the control stick in a circular motion as fast as possible to shine a light on a ghost.

Well we’re all laying our palms flat on the n64 controllers to spin instead of our thumbs for that extra speed. Next thing you know, we’re all sporting huge purple welts on the palms of our hands! Mine seriously looked like Joe Pesci’s after he grabbed the scolding hot door handle from Home Alone. I couldn’t grab anything properly for a week!
