Re: Switch 2 GameChat Choppy Frame Rate Explained By Nintendo

TAndvig

This is such a non issue. There gonna be a select few people that actually wanted this to be optimal. Me personally, I don't care, there are so many things to be critical of Switch 2, and this is just trivial. Only thing I will say is that with the current price, I kind of wish they didn't do this whole Gamechat thing at all inc. the camera.

Re: 'Switch 2 Editions' Are Supposedly A Switch Game Card And Download Code For The Upgrade Pack

TAndvig

This is shocking and all, but that aside, is it even legal for them to do this? They are literally marketing and branding (Switch 2 logo on the cover) as a Switch 2 product, when in fact the content inside is actually for a entirely different product. Seems odd to me this would pass as legal, especially in some EU countries like Norway where marketing laws and such are really strict.

Re: Mario Kart World's Character Select Screen Teases Absolutely Huge Roster

TAndvig

I'm a bit worried about this actually. At first I wanted this, but now I realize that there's no vehicle customization (stat based at least) and I don't see any indication that the characters have anything special beside cosmetics, which makes me wonder if this will just be a really stripped down version of previous MK games except that it'll be "bigger".

Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast

TAndvig

The console price for me is fine, it's the software price that is laughable. I love that some people even seem to justify it by saying "inflation". But the fact is, we only see a adjustment in price when it is an increase and never a reduction, even when justified. When more and more games went digital, there definitely was a strong argument for a price reduction, but we never saw that, so clearly it's just pure greed and people should put pressure on it. Probably become the best argument for emulation, if this doesn't stop.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

TAndvig

Taking into consideration how long we've been waiting for this type of direct and the fact that this is the end of Switch 1, I think this was extremely poor. They should've at least had remasters of Zelda or something. Metroid Prime 4 looks great, but the presentation wasn't anywhere impressive even for Switch 1.

Re: Civilization VII Devs "Love" What Nintendo Is Doing With Switch 2 Joy-Con

TAndvig

Would rather just have RTS games be developed in a manner that would work well with a controller. The shape of a joy-con just doesn't really work that well unless there is an attachment that makes it more comfortable and practical as a mouse, but I strongly doubt it. Sounds to me like one of those old Nintendo gimmicks that just doesn't really work.

Re: Random: Switch 2 Leakers Called Out By Industry Veteran Hideki Kamiya

TAndvig

I have two different opinions on this.

On one hand, this is the internet and how it's always been and to expect anything different is just dumb. Nintendo should've predicted the leaks since they waited so long.

On the other hand, he's completely right, we have no right to leaks or to even know anything about the product before its announcement. And all it does is just take away their chance to actually showcase their creation, which understandably sucks for them and also is a really important moment for marketing and communication of the product.

Re: Dragon Quest III Remake Producer Would "Love" To See Final Fantasy VI HD-2D

TAndvig

@EarthboundBenjy Playing through Pixel Remaster now for the first time and completed all of them except FF5 (at world 2), and I absolutely love them, and I would absolutely love this. However, this never tend to be the evolution of games, or any other media/product. FF17 will just be more bombastic and "high fidelity" in terms of graphics and action. Going back to pixels would be deemed as a downgrade unfortunately. :/

I played FF16, and I couldn't dislike it more, even if I tried.

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Devs Explain The Method Behind The Menu Madness

TAndvig

Wow. That reasoning is even worse than I thought it would be.

Great example of devs not seeing these things from the perspective of the gamer.

They should've focused on user friendliness, and just have other justifications for the gamer to experiment with the different echoes. But, that's not how most gamers will approach it. If you find one solution that works on several problems, you're just gonna stick to it.

With a mechanic like 'Echoes', it seems to me that they really want to make a sandbox game, but yet true to the typical aspects of a 2D Zelda game. Just pick one and stick to it, or at least adapt it better to the rest of the game. The game is really great in some ways, but get so boring after a while because it lean so heavily on 'Echoes'. Even reducing to 40-50 Echoes in the game would've made it a lot more interesting, and just focus more time on the rest of the gameplay experience.

Re: Dragon Quest Creator Chimes In On Characters Showing Less Skin In Upcoming HD-2D Remake

TAndvig

So they changed sexes for diabetes types, that's funny.

That being said, it's trivial but I do think the creators should be free to do as they please, which they kind of are, they're censoring themselves to reach what they "think" is the masses.

Though we all know that if they kept it the way it should be, it wouldn't really hurt their sales as these types of people are in the minority, and creators should stop acting as if they're the majority and just do what they want to do, and stop enabling this senseless debate that hasn't gone anywhere for the last few years, but only empower really questionable people with no genuine intention.

Re: Bayonetta Star Jennifer Hale On The SAG-AFTRA Strikes: "AI Is Coming For Us All"

TAndvig

@Pillowpants AI will definitely play a huge role, maybe even a critical one considering everyone has access to it. Even terrorist cells / groups have access to it. EVERYONE has access to it, so it definitely be a critical part of every war going forward. Not even sure if "better AI" will matter the same way as "better technology" which makes it even scarier. Also, imagine how AI can be used in countries like North Korea to survey the people, locate "escape routes" and such. It's terrible and everyone using AI is complicit in it.

Re: Nintendo Is Hard At Work To Prevent Future Leaks

TAndvig

Couldn't really care less, for a consumer this is pretty much a non-issue. Sure, leaks ruin surprises, if you happen to see and read them, but if journalists stopped writing about them, so that you would have to seek them out in various forums, then you'd easily avoid them anyway. Again, it's pretty trivial.
However, I totally understand Nintendo wanting to prevent them.
