Re: Soapbox: There's No Shame In Playing On Easy, Even If You're A Pro

@TheFullAndy Microtransactions are and have almost always been used to ease the playing time and difficulty, so you're wrong. This is on casual gaming and the behaviour that have enabled this. If you want to be triggered and pretend like it's untrue. Sure, go ahead. But you're support what has been so far the downfall of games with great quality.

@TheFullAndy What the hell are you even on about. I am saying there is a strong correlation between easy difficulty and casual games. Playing games on easy IS casual and casual gaming is a behaviour that has led us to microtransactions.

There are several thousands of evidence pointing to this, some of the very first games to implement this business decision are casual games and mobile games. to appeal to people who DOESN'T LIKE A CHALLENGE, i.e. people who like things to be EASY or in other terms, casual gamers. So yes, having the behaviour of playing games casually is having the behaviour that have led to this.

Christ.....

@ghostwolves Because difficulty very often determines how well of an understanding you get of the game. E.g. You can't really give a good description of enemies in a video game if they played it with casual settings. A game session of a strategy game will have vastly different ai behaviour from the easiest to the medium setting.

Just watch Let's Plays and let others play for you. Never understood the appeal of casual gaming, no challenge, no intensity. Once in a while? Sure, but to dedicate only to that. Oh god...no...Might as well just watch youtube videos then. Being a hardcore gamer is one thing but to only play casual games, you're missing out on a important factor of video games. Video Games aren't really that much if they can't challenge the player. It's an artform, it is supposed to push you, think differently, see things differently. Don't get that from casual gaming, it's very shallow, sorry to be so frank and type it that way but it's true. Should people be ashamed of it? Not really. Except for one aspect I mentioned further down.

I will add one more dilemma with casual gaming, which goes hand in hand with mobile gaming. If it weren't for those two, we wouldn't be having micro-transactions and the kind of predatory gambling concepts that we see today. In that sense, I think casual gamers should be maybe a bit ashamed as they have enabled companies to do so. Which have ruined the quality of the art form.

@Shambo I think I agree with everything you just said. I don't really think people who react to this have a "dirty mind". I just find it immature and kind of conservative, so what if they show what migiht look like a vagina, or if your mind thinks that is what you're seeing. It is art. If people want to debate and believe that video games are art, well then they have to accept all the things that come with the definition of art.

Genitalia is a natural part of art and art history, depicting the human body or using parts of the human body in art is as natural as it gets. And if this was on purpose then they aren't doing anything wrong, also, isn't this a 18+ or 16+ rated game? So what the hell.

As a european, I think this is more an american thing and something that is slowly influencing some europeans.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure

No thanks, seems the devs were confused about what genre they wanted to create. You can't create a game with some RPG elements but without the fundemental ones. If you can battle randomly in this but not using any system to justify it, e.g. EXP system. Also, sick and tired of how games implement these currencies in their games but the currencies are rendered meaningless because of usage and gaining high amounts too early.

Don't get me wrong, it's okay if they didn't want it to be a RPG and it's not what they aimed for. However, when that is the case, you can't implement functions and systems that support that genre and then leaving out the ones that is a complete necessity to justify them, you will just be left with functions and systems that don't really make sense and that drags the entertainment quality/ gameplay value down drastically.

Re: Here's Your First Look At Crysis Remastered Running On Nintendo Switch

TAndvig

HOLD ON HERE! You telling me this trailer and those leaked photos were for the Switch version? And people complained? This looks actually too ***** good to be on the Switch, in terms of Switch standard. And the performance from what little we can see, looks extremely good. I will easily buy this for Switch. Almost embarrassing how much better this looks and "Might" run on Switch compared to the dreadful port of Outer Worlds. Also, this means that we haven't seen the PC version, yet people are mad. Omfg...

Re: A Nintendo Direct In June Is Beginning To Seem Less And Less Likely

TAndvig

@NotoriousWhiz First party? maybe true, but not third party games. And regardless, my point still stands, they clearly had nothing to show us anyway so they are just taking advantage of the situation. Several companies in this industry have proven us that there is no excuse not to continue releasing either games or video presentations during this pandemic.

Re: A Nintendo Direct In June Is Beginning To Seem Less And Less Likely

TAndvig

Disappointed by Nintendo, no reason for them not to set something up. Just gather videoes/trailers from the different des, edit and set it up as a direct. And I don't buy that these few months of a pandemic halted their production to the point where they can't show us anything, if that is the case then those games certainly wouldn't have been released this year or the next anyway, with or without a pandemic. Clearly they are taking advantage of the situation and making excuses.

Re: We Won't Get A Nintendo Direct This June For E3, Says Report

TAndvig

This is nonsense, no reason for them not to have a Direct. Three House was out of the question, of course. But no excuse to not have a direct. Feel like they are just taking advantage of this Pandemic at this point, which would be disgraceful but a lot of companies have shown to do so, and Nintendo is no different.
