Re: Soapbox: Fire Emblem’s Future May Not Be In Turn-Based Combat

TAndvig

Fire Emblem Three Houses is my favorite, but please keep social sim at the minimum. Only reason I didn't get Engage is simply because of the ***** story and obnoxious 'anime-esque' melodrama, and the only reason I loved Three Houses is because the story was great and the low amount of social sim worked well with it.

Re: Talking Point: What Would Make You Happy To Give Up Physical Games And Go 100% Digital?

TAndvig

I have been wondering, and maybe someone can answer this.

Is there a "environmentally conscious" argument to be made for going digital over physical or vice versa? Like, how much pollution is generated through the production of physical covers and cartridges contra the amount of electricity used to maintain servers, inc. the production of the actual servers themselves.

If I was conscious about something like that, would digital or physical be better (ofc, not the obvious that is "none")?

Re: Talking Point: What Would Make You Happy To Give Up Physical Games And Go 100% Digital?

TAndvig

Only thing that could make me go 100 % over to digital, is if they gave me full ownership of the product (I actually own what I buy), and they can reassure it will always be downloadable regardless of what happens in the future. They could always do like GOG and let you download all the content needed to install and then keep it locally on a SD card or on the drive, if that isn't possible, then they would need some method where this is possible so that I am assured.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

TAndvig

If it seriously lacks backwards compability then I definitely will wait with buying it, unless they release the next Mario Kart game on it or something that's really enticing, but still then it won't be an easy decision for me.

We already know it's most likely gonna be a portable hybrid so I am pretty sure they will opt for a cartridge format, hence I don't see much excuse for it not to support backwards compatibility.

Re: Video: We Share Our Thoughts On Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom After 100+ Hours In The Game

TAndvig

I haven't fully finished the game (approx 150 hours in). The game is good and I do love my time spent on it, but there is no doubt in my mind that the game is overrated.

The dungeons/temples are an improvement over the predecessor, but still very lacking.

The story is an improvement but yet very lacking, and they have lost quite a bit of that Zelda charm, except for a few NPC characters here and there. The "memory/tears" thing didn't really work for me, especially as I would never have them revealed to me in a consistent fashion, so it just got confusing and tiresome.

The gameplay is fun and can be compelling, but it is also filled to the brim with mindless quests and collectibles that give you pretty much the same task but with different contexts of why you do it, which gets repetitive and boring.

-I do love the fusion mechanic as it made the durability mechanic fairer and less obnoxious. The "building" mechanics I hope they leave behind in the next installment as it never really felt that necessary and when it did, it wasn't really that great, it has too many limitations to really be optimal or justify why it's there.

-The shrines (have 10 left) I am a bit back-and-forth with, as I don't know if I truly liked them this time around. I loved several of the ones with actual puzzles, but then the "exploration" ones, in hindsight weren't really that exciting to complete. Koroks are whatever, they're fine... I guess... at least they tried to give them more variations.

-Dungeons/temples were really great, but so damn short and the bosses were definitely an improvement over BoTW, but still not really that great. Wind temple I think might've been my favorite or the puzzle in the Lighting temple (probably the one that made me feel the most that this was a Zelda game).

-Difficulty is much like BoTW, it's all over the place. It has so many difficulty spikes that I just go from loving the difficulty to hating how fast it can get boring.

Music, it's between meh and great for me, I am just not that much of a fan of the minimalist approach, so it's more a matter of taste rather than if it's actually bad or not. Music itself is great, just hate the timing and length of it.

The game for me is much like The Depths, it's really excellent and fun the first half, and as the game's patterns unfold, you get more sick of it, but slowly and gradually so.

Can't decide between 7 or 8. Worth buying. Had fun. Good game, but still lacks a lot that is necessary for it to be a good 'Zelda' game. I do think the team deserves most of the praise it gets, even though I don't gush over it.

Re: Soapbox: Fortnite On Switch Is Five Years Old, And I Have No Idea What It Is Anymore

TAndvig

Couldn't care less about this game, I can never tell what this game is every time I hear another news story about it. My only actual annoyance with the game is more on how it (probably) has negatively shaped how game publishers/devs implement micro-transactions, and its success definitely is a good example of why a game should have micro-transactions from a business standpoint, which for gamers like me, sucks big time. I also find it disgusting how it appeals to children and at the same time offers so many ways to just continuously spend money, my sympathies go to the parents that have to deal with this *****.

Re: Yes, Hogwarts Legacy Really Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch

TAndvig

I wanna congratulate Nintendo Life on handling this better then most other outlets like KF, EZA and such. It's nice to see that along with LSM, Nintendo Life is approaching this rationally.

On another note, I am super hyped for this game, though I won't be playing on Switch, I assume it'll end up being a cloud version. If not, then I will wait until we know more about the performances before buying it.

Re: Dead By Daylight To Lose Leatherface 'Survivor Mask' Cosmetic Following In-Game Harassment

TAndvig

How are people being harassed by the use of this character skin? :S Even the video doesn't really show it except for one example that seemed a bit vague.
Not difficult to imagine people being racist in online games, not sure how many times I've been called n***** and I am white, but I wish the author provided examples of it in the article to give a better understanding of what is going on.

Re: New Breath Of The Wild 2 Footage Shown, Aiming For A 2022 Release

TAndvig

Thank god we can still play as Link and no CO-OP nonsense. Great reveal, and the game looks gorgeous!! But I seriously hope that they do more than just use the old map and add a sky-map above that, and that's it They need to add things to the old map also to justify this, which I think personally they will, but it's a bit of a concern.

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

TAndvig

@everynowandben No it doesn't, XP is not what dictates if something is an RPG, it is a common trait of the genre but it is not the essence. RPG is about roleplaying, hence the name R-P-G = Role Playing Game. >.>, so no matter how much you want to, you're not right.

By your logic, almost EVERY game is an RPG then, because the XP system has become a common trait in games because it is a way for publishers/devs to more easily monetize their games.

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

TAndvig

@everynowandben XP has nothing really to do with it, RPG per definition is first of all about roleplaying as someone (not just playing a character), which is why the only actual RPGs you have are those of BG1 and BG2, Icewind Dale, Tides of Numunera, Pillars of Eternity and etc...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 And Witcher 3 Source Code Reportedly Being Auctioned After CD Projekt Hack

TAndvig

Considering how serious of a crime this is, I don't give a damn about how bad Cyberpunk was, this is not deserved on anyone. We can't let morals or emotions dictate what's right and what's wrong from a judicial perspective.

Also, most ppl got their refunds that were unhappy with it after the launch, if you bought it after the reviews and opinions were out there on the Internet, that is not on CDPR, that is on you, so stop complaining about this, it has become pathetic at this point.

Re: Soapbox: I Never Completed Breath Of The Wild, And I Never Will

TAndvig

@FroZtedFlakerZz I would ignore and not let it get to me. Rude comments and tweets is not something exclusive to those that are working publicly, e.g. journalists.

This happens to most people, what you do is simple, you ignore it and move on. Giving it oxygen will just keep it alive longer and keep people coming back.
