Re: Retail Version of DOOM on Switch Will Need a Download for Online Multiplayer

Spike6958

@jadeyez80 Articles like this, moreso come from the fact that in the run up to Switch's launch, people where all shouting about how game cards would be so much better than discs, because the game could be played right off the card, WITHOUT the need to install hefty day one updates like on other systems.
It would have been true too, if Nintendo didn't charge so much to developers for the larger ones.

Re: Splatoon 2 Has A Nasty Surprise In Store For Rage Quitters

Spike6958

Seems pretty unfair on people like myself who don't even have the option of good internet.
I have the best plan available in my area, but even that is absolute trash. I've brought it up multiple times to my provider, but they don't care, if you don't live in a major city it's 3rd world quality internet or nothing.
Why should I have to miss out on Splatoon 2 when the fault is on a company to lazy to fix it?

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Nintendo at E3 2017?

Spike6958

I think that E3, at least from Nintendo's side, will be disappointing. Not 2015 disappointing, but still pretty bad.
They've told us that this E3 will be all about 2017 titles, and they've already told us we're getting Fire Emblem Warriors, Super Mario Odyssey, Pokkén Tournament DX, Splatoon 2, ARMS and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 this year, that's 6 games already that we know are supposed to be coming this year, that's one game per month for the rest of the year just from Nintendo themselves.
Add onto that the two Zelda DLC packs, and the known existence of Mario + Rabbids, and Nintendo has a pretty jam packed year, and that's before factoring in any third party, or indie titles. There just doesn't seem like there's room for a big surprise. At most, I could see Virtual Console been revealed, with the first games been available after the direct, but even that feels like a stretch.

It's a weird feeling because as a Nintendo fan, I'm excited for 2017, it's one of the best line-ups we've had in years, but as an E3 fan, I'm incredibly disappointed because Nintendo has already had two very low-key E3's in a row. With so few announcements in both 2015 and 2016, you'd think after that they'd be ready to go all out, showing that the Switch isn't going to be another Wii U, and that it's not only got a strong 2017, but will also continue that strength into 2018 and beyond.

Re: SNES Classic Edition Gets Name-Checked In Xbox E3 Survey

Spike6958

I know NES Mini did well, but SNES Mini seems poorly timed if true. Nintendo should instead be investing in the Switch's virtual console, trying to get classic 3rd party titles that didn't make it over to the service on past systems, as well as adding consoles beyond Nintendo's.

Re: Poll: Who Would You Like To See In Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch?

Spike6958

I put my vote in for Impa, specifically I want her Hyrule Warriors incarnation, with the huge ass sword.

My second choice would have been Krystal. I know people aren't fans of SFA, but Star Fox could do with some unique characters.
Giving Krystal her staff would offer some amazing possibility's, her main attack would be the traditional staff moves, while the alts can be the staff's magic, rocket for recovery, fire for ranged, down could be earthquake.

Re: Poll: What Wii U Ports Would You Like to Play on Nintendo Switch?

Spike6958

There are two that I mainly want.

Super Mario Maker, is the first. I want everything from the first game, but with the addition of more game pallets (Mario Land, Yoshi's Island, Wario Land), unique stage themes for each pallet, new items and new enemies. Really, I want SMM2.

Super Smash Bros, is second. I want everything from the Wii U, 3DS and DLC. Plus a minimum of Ice Climbers, Wolf and Inkling, and stages for each, as well as more music for stages like Midgar (One Winged Angel please), additional trophies would be nice too, but not a deal breaker.
I'd also like them to just support this version for the life of the Switch. Instead of making an all new Smash a few years down the line, give me a constant flow of extra characters, stages, and other content to keep this game feeling fresh, and let Sakurai have a break.

I also voted for Pokken Tournament as my 3rd option. Not as bothered about this one, but it'd still be nice to see, especially as the Arcade version has been updated with a bunch of new characters since the Wii U versions release.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Nintendo Switch Pre-Order and Launch Day Plans?

Spike6958

Breath of the Wild and Bomberman at retail.
I Am Setsuna and Binding of Issac digital.
200 GB Micro SD Card.
Carry Case.

Had holidays owing from work, which I need to use up by March 31st, so I'm taking the week off. The Friday and weekend will be exclusively Switch, do have other stuff planned for the rest of it though.

Re: Nintendo Switch Memory Can Be Expanded Up To 2TB

Spike6958

I'm going physical for most games, mainly because I love the design of the game cases for Switch. However I'm still gonna get myself a pretty decent sized Micro SD, as i'm hoping we'll get good a good amount of digital only and Virtual Console games.

Re: Pokémon: I Choose You Movie Gets Its First Trailer

Spike6958

So... we're getting a movie retelling of the original series, with what appears to be the XYZ art style? Sounds awesome, I just wish they'd get the original voice cast back for it, I can't stand the replacements they got for Gen 4 and onwards, especially for Team Rocket.

Re: Pokémon GO Bonuses Increased For Limited Period

Spike6958

I never actually stopped play, I just play it less.

Most of what I need now comes from either 10k eggs, or evolution's, as such I usually turn the game on for my walks to and from work, and just leave it in my pocket to do it's thing, and only pull it out if I feel it buzz, or when I know I'm by a PokeSpot or my local Dratini spawn point.

Once I finish my Kanto dex, or at least, what can be finished of it, then I'll probably give the game a break until Gen 2 is added.

Re: Fresh Retail Source Reportedly Reinforces and Outlines New Nintendo NX Rumours

Spike6958

I'm calling BS, just based on Mario. Miyamoto said at E3 2016 that he was working on the next big Mario game, and that it was a brand new take on the formula, but he wouldn't be ready to talk about it until E3 2017 at the earliest.

Now sure, this rumor could instead be talking about Mario Maker, Mario Kart, or some other spin-off, or even a HD remake of 64, Sunshine or Galaxy. Still, As one of just four launch titles. It'd be a terrible move if the Launch titles for NX where Zelda (a Wii U game), Smash (a Wii U+3DS game), Mario (a port or remake of an older game), and then one final game that's an actual NX exclusive.

Re: The Xbox One Now Has A Nintendo 64 Emulator

Spike6958

So question, if I downloaded this could I legally play a rom of Banjo Tooie, as I own it digitally via X360 and Rare Replay? Because the XBLA version of Tooie screwed up the music pretty badly, and makes the game far less enjoyable.

Re: Video: Fans Are Getting Bent Out Of Shape By The New Pokémon Sun And Moon Anime

Spike6958

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Surprisingly, no. He's correct to say seasons.

Each generation was meant to be it's own season (with the side seasons like Orange Islands and Battle frontier been part of the season that came before it).

However, because of the lengths of the later regions, they decided to split them up for the English releases, and now also split them for the original Japaneses versions too.
