@Neon_Blues While is doesn't make it right, many people simply can't afford to own multiple consoles. For them it was either an X1/PS4 OR Wii U, and with how bad the Wii U was doing, it's a pretty simple choice.
There is also the issue of many older NES and SNES games not been added to any of Nintendo's eShops, so the only way to get them is to pay hundreds for some of the rarest carts on eBay, as well as finding a working console, and even a TV that the console can run on, or you can just grab an emulator and rom and have at it.
I know this will be a completely 3DS focused event, but I'm still convinced that the NX will also be shown off this month, and that we'll get a date for that event at the end of this one.
Honestly, I'm just happy as long as we get N64 virtual console on NX, with more games this time. Always felt like we got the short end of the stick on Wii U, when it came to N64 games. Oh, and GameCube, desperatly need GameCube, I wanna play Sunshine again, but GCN looks terrible on my TV.
I loved Snap, still own the cart. I really wish they would have made a sequel for Wii U, as the gamepad would have been perfect for a camera. I guess EuroGamers "leak" could also work for a Snap sequel, move the screen around to move the camera and if it's a touch screen you wouldn't even need the buttons, but I think Go probably kills any chance of this ever happening.
I've been thinking for a while that they'll have four core games on launch day. Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash 4 and a new IP (and I'm thinking the new IP will be from Retro).
Yeah probably. I mostly play it on my walk too and from work, or if I go out shopping with the Mrs. I'm not finding myself going out just to look for Pokemon, so I'm not finding myself getting bored of the app. As long as they keep adding new features, and most importantly new Pokemon, I'll keep playing.
@StitchScout I know. Nintendo has said that there reason for making mobile games is to recover the losses made on Wii U, and that the money made was going to be put back into core games.
Nintendo knows better than anyone that just because something is insanely successful, doesn't mean you can make it your sole focus, because that success can always disappear. They learnt that the hard way with the Wii and Wii U.
Could this mean an NX version? Updates for the Wii U version, while nice, would be a little pointless once the NX releases and the majority of it's already small userbase moves over.
This is insane. People on the radio where talking about this, as where some people in work. I was hopeful that Go would do well, but I never expected anything like this. It's like Red and Blue all over again.
Seems reasonable. Look at PS4 and X1, outside of the standard LEGO games, the only kids games are Disney Infinity (which is canceled), Skylanders and LEGO Dimensions, all of which require additional investments alongside the core game. Kids don't have disposable income, at least not a lot anyway, and most parents with kids have to manage there money, so these Toys to Life games are really surviving more on "Big Kids" than actual kids.
So kids really only have the Core LEGO games, which is why Mobile is stealing them away. With Nintendo looking into getting their IP's into theme parks, Movies, TV, and Mobile games, it's the perfect time for them to start trying to recapture that market again. And an even better way to do that would be to also have 3rd party games that parents want to play, so that parents will by the Nintendo console for there kids to play in the day, and them at night instead of two separate consoles.
I'm torn, on one hand we might have actually gotten a proper sequel to Banjo-Tooie, or at least one that wasn't a stupid driving game, but on the other I don't think Activision would have given a game like Viva Pinata the go-ahead, which is honestly my favorite RARE game.
You know what, screw it. I'm gonna get Sticker Star. I enjoyed SPM a lot more than most did and I only played the first level of SS on a friends copy and didn't hate it.
Well, its an improvement over Sticker Star at least, even if it's following the same formula. Some genuinely funny moments here and there, and the game looks beautiful.
Part of me is willing to give it a try, but at the same time I don't want to support this direction for the series, because the better they sell, the less and less likely we are to go back to the routes of the series.
Iwanko is so damn cute. 100% adding him to my team, which is a first for a rock type. But that name though, I know it'll most likely be different when it comes out over here, but wow.
@Bolt Strike It's because they are changing the names of established Pokemon. Pikachu for example in Hong Kong is called is 比卡超, but this translation would have him changed to 皮卡丘. It would be the same if they decided now to change all the English Pokemon names into their exact Japaneses translations, for example Charizard to Lizardon or Blastoise into Kamex.
No thanks. My Lego budget is exclusive to the Harry Potter (which I have almost all of), Scooby-Doo (which I do have all of), and Star Wars sets (which I have no where near all of). Star Wars LEGO is expensive enough without adding another set to drain off of it.
Hmm, the fact Alex didn't use an actual leak for the analogue stick, instead of the Gherkins make me less trusting of this, otherwise very convincing, rumor.
Awesome. I bought 3.0 and all the Star Wars characters that have come in the months since it's release, and have had a lot of fun with them. Hope we get some more Star Wars characters announced soon, their are just too many to leave it at what we have now.
@aaronsullivan Yeah, I think that the "Wii Sports" line was probably a big issue for Nintendo been willing to go all out with EA. Wii Sports was a huge success for Nintendo, as it became what the system was known for, and the reason people actively bought it, and they probably had plans to evolve the series further on Wii U, but as the system sales tanked, those plans changed. Then they also have the "Mario Sports" series. The Mario Golf games would be in direct competition with PGA Tour, Mario Strikes with FIFA, and I'm sure EA would love to get the licence for a Tennis series too. They aren't used to competition when it comes to these games, so for Nintendo to be developing the competition themselves isn't something that would go over well with EA.
Any site other than Zavvi, and I would have considered it.
I ordered a DVD boxset from them for my Aunt's Birthday, they said it was in stock, so I bought it, and the next day they'd marked it at dispatched. A week later and it had still not arrived, so I contacted them, they said it had been sent out and should arrive soon. A few more days passed, and my Aunt's Birthday came around but the set still hadn't arrived, so frustrated I contacted them again and they said they'd send out another copy. Another week passed, and it still didn't arrive. So I contacted them yet again, this time asking to speak to someone higher up, and only then did they finally tell me the truth, that the set was actually out of stock, and had been the whole time. They didn't even want to give me a refund, claiming that I didn't need one because they could get the set in, if I could just wait a little longer. But I was done with them at that point. I did get the refund, and I went to Amazon, found the same set (a little bit more expensive), ordered it, they dispatched the same day and it arrived the next.
Basically, if you're one of the 500, just know Zavvi are NOT trustworthy.
Don't see why this wouldn't be true. Nintendo and Square-Enix have become very friendly again recently. If the NX is in the same ballpark as the PS4 and X1, of course they'd release FF on their.
I mean, it's no secret that Square-Enix where one of the first developers to get NX dev kits (OK, it was a secret, but remember they announced DQXI for NX, so we know they have them). So they've had more than enough time to port FFXV over, and FFVII: Remake is still in development so that'll be simple enough to do. Also, FFVII Remake only said first on PS4. FFVII is getting an episodic release on the PS4, once the full game is out, they can then release it on NX.
I think the reason FF:Explorers isn't selling well because it's almost impossible to find. I've been looking for it everywhere, but it's sold out in every shop and online. Only place I can find it is digital.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this store exclusive Pokemon stuff is garbage. A few years ago GAME closed a lot of their stores due to nearly entering administration, both stores within a reasonable distance from me where included in these. If I wanted to get this now, it's a 3 hour car drive. I'm not making a 3 hour car drive every month just for a Pokemon. I could understand it other years because they want these to be rare, but the 20th anniversary should be the one year they let everyone get these Pokemon. Just offer them over Wifi or don't bother.
IMO, Zelda U only make sense in two places. It's either directly after Skyward Sword or it's set between Phantom Hourglass and Sprite Tracks. Either way it based on the establishment of Hyrule/New Hyrule.

@Bennyt I think at this point Pikmin 4 is probably for NX.
Re: A Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Is On the Way
Going to make a prediction that this will be the final Wii U focused Direct.
E3, and all future Directs will belong to the NX, with some 3DS thrown in, and the only mention of Wii U, will be Zelda's release date.
Re: Nintendo Announces a Pokémon Direct to Get the Celebrations Started
@Grumblevolcano Eh, still three times the length of the actual direct XD.
Re: Nintendo Announces a Pokémon Direct to Get the Celebrations Started
5 Minute Direct? I'm gonna predict GameXplain will do a half hour pre-event discussion for it then, minimum.
