I’ve never been interested in this series. To be fair, I’ve never played a soccer/football game before, just assuming I wouldn’t like it due to my general dislike of sports games. I’ll give Strikers a shot to test my assumption.
As for a GameCube game I’d love to play, it’d be fun to play Kirby Air Ride before the new one comes out.
I’m still trying to gauge how much I enjoy these indie 3D platformers and if I can overlook certain flaws. I loved Lunistice, was underwhelmed by Toree 3D, and disliked Cavern of Dreams. Even if Ruffy has a few glowing reviews, I don’t know if it will entertain me or just make me wish I was playing a 3D Mario game.
May be a Day 1 purchase for me. I had such a fun time with the second game, and it’s great to hear the enhanced first game has cut down those awful loading times.
Undertale is one of my favorite games of all time, and I enjoyed the first chapter of Deltarune. Like others have said, I’m excited to try out this game once it is complete!
I’ve started interpreting getting hit by a blue shell as a badge of honor. Even if you don’t get first place, you had to get demolished to give everyone else a chance at first place.
On the other hand, the lightning item can go blink itself out of existence.
I would love for Nintendo Life to do nothing but review games, but I have to wonder how much traffic they bring relative to the time and energy it takes to write them. It seems Talking Points and certain news articles stir more traffic whereas some reviews seem to struggle to get more than ten comments. I imagine if we - as readers - want to see more reviews, we need to engage more with review articles.
The “tired” option speaks to me this year. Before, I would perseverate on getting three stars for every cup. Now, I have so little time to play games that if I set an arbitrary marker for success, I find that I’m just not enjoying myself anymore.
Three stars gold cup is certainly a nice dopamine boost, but it’s no longer required anymore. I play exclusively multiplayer now, so three stars also means I would only be happy if I was the only one getting first place.
I am more than willing to wait longer for a review if it means the reviewer is able to dedicate more time to playing the game. Take as much time as you need!
Glad to hear it’s great! I’m tempted to grab it this weekend, but I’ve also set a limit that I can’t get the Switch 2 until I finish all Switch 1 games. I’ve been hankering for a solid roguelite/like, so I may commit to it!
Really glad to hear that you’re reviewing this, @PJOReilly. It caught my eye on the eShop, but I know next to nothing about it, and I also don’t know enough about Wales Interactive to trust them as a publisher.
The last thing I want in a game is a mechanic or bug that makes me irate enough to want to stop playing. Apsey must have a ton more patience than I do to get that angry and still give a favorable score to Dunk Dunk. The last two multiplayer games that angered me that much were ClusterPuck 99 and Headsnatchers, and I loathe those games.
So awesome to see this review! I intend to get this game at some point, but I’m not in a hurry. I enjoy narrative games, but I’ve recently played a bunch and am looking for a more traditional “video game” experience from the next few games I play.
No invite yet. I’m still debating whether I’ll preorder a Switch 2 if I get an invite or if I’ll wait to buy one once I’ve completed all of my Switch 1 backlog (which is 15 or so games).
You may know this already, but Pac-Man Vs. is available as part of Namco Museum on the Switch. It’s often on sale for less than five bucks (as it is now)!
I’m right there with you on hoping for Eternal Darkness and Lost Kingdoms!
Since digging into Deku Deals, I’ve managed to add a ton of games to my wishlist that would probably be considered underrated/overlooked, and I was just focused on Metacritic scores and user scores. I’m eager to move onto the Switch 2, but with the number of games available on the Switch 1, I could wait to jump to the next console for probably another three years.
Three games I have my radar on are Stasis: Bone Totem, Smushi Come Home, and Climb Bros. If anyone of you have played them, I’d love your thoughts, and I always enjoy hearing people’s underrated/overlooked games!
I haven’t heard many positive things about this port, so I wonder how much this patch improves the experience. I rented Glover a couple of times as a kid, so I have a few vague memories of it. I’m interested in replaying it, but I wish it was on NSO or at least had a demo…
After skipping out on the last few cups from the most recent round of DLC for MK8D, I figured I was karted out. Nintendo has blown away my expectations with World, and I hope to grab the bundle when I buy the Switch 2. Even without the bundle, I’d pay at least $81 for this game.
I’m hyped, and I’m fortunate enough to generally like most Nintendo franchises, no matter how they evolve with time. Make Mario Kart an open world driving game. Bring DK back to a 3D world to break it apart. Transform Animal Crossing into a work sim and make me enjoy a 9 to 5. My body is ready.
Best news of the Direct. He can take as long as he needs. He seems to understand what makes his games fun, and if he can capture the joy of the first one, the child in me will party like it’s 2003.
It’s amazing you can count the number of Xbox Series X sold this week with all the fingers of your body. I can’t count that high nor do I have that many fingers.
The trailer didn't do it for me. Some more focus on the overall gameplay and less on the announcer would have been appreciated. Hopefully, the announcer doesn't have that much of a presence at all in the actual game. I'm all for wacky multiplayer games, so I'll keep on eye out for reviews to see if it's a slam... heh... hole in one.
I would love to see an official English version of this content.
Now that Sega has released this, it’s time for Nintendo to create a timeline for one of its series. I’ll be hoping that we’ll finally get the official timeline for the Animal Crossing games.
I’m still sore from when they made PvZ free-to-play on mobile, forcing me to play with a bunch of ads and micro-transactions even when I had previously purchased the game. Love the game; dislike the parties making money off of it.
I have yet to grab an Atari game, but I’ve had a grand time watching them operate as a company. It’s anyone’s guess how some indie studio is going to reinvent one of their IPs. There’s a part of me that would love to see Nintendo take this approach, but I think Atari was and has been in a unique position where they have nothing to lose but everything to gain by testing the limits of their franchises.
These themed ones are nifty, but if you’re not familiar with the source material, the pictures are a little less exciting to reveal. I bought the Namco one recently, thinking I knew enough about Namco to enjoy it. I don’t. Picross is still Picross, but I don’t get any nostalgia or meaning from Final Lap’s “Engine” or Dragon Buster’s “Exit.”
After a few duds trying to be Hotline Miami, I’m skeptical of any game that tries to emulate it. Ape Out was great, and Boomerang X and Katana Zero scratched the HM itch for me despite not having top-down action. I’ll keep an eye on the reviews for this game and hope for the best.
I’d love to see a poll where people can vote/submit how many ACA titles they own. I still only have one game (Magical Drop II), purchased at the beginning of the Switch’s lifecycle when it had few games on the eShop.
I’m glad to see indies like Animal Well and Balatro make the list along with Celeste and Hades. My own top 50 probably favors more indies (but includes BOTW, Odyssey, and other big releases). RPGs are almost entirely absent from my list, whereas they take up a healthy chunk of NL’s list.
I would love to see a new entry. The first is one of my top 5 games ever, and the second is pretty stellar. At this point, I’m open to try out the other entries even if they aren’t critically acclaimed. Give me more!
I heard the Switch 2 dock will have a spring that will launch the Switch 2 at you at the push of a button. The dock can then double as a toaster while you play in handheld.
Lovely feature! I appreciate how you approached this issue from a largely objective standpoint while still pointing out how much Strictly Limited has dropped the ball. Great content!
Incidentally, “back room” games seem to be a horror sub-genre now. I haven’t checked out the Backrooms 1998, so it could be cool and creative for all I know. However, it’s funnier to think that Backrooms Horror Escape is a straight copy of the Backrooms 1998, which may be a cheap imitation of another backrooms game, which is probably just a poor man’s horror version of the Stanley Parable. Talk about diminishing returns!
Thanks for telling me more about your gaming habits! I admire that you still play on your older consoles. Whenever a new system comes out, the previous one almost immediately goes into storage for me.
I guess roguelikes/lites make up the genre I’m almost always playing. It is nice to fall back on a familiar style of gameplay!

How are you enjoying the second game? I had fun with the first, but it didn’t quite suck me in like Slay the Spire did.
Re: Feature: The Long & Rainbow Road To 'Mario Kart World' - Part 2
Despite how much I played Double Dash, it felt like a step down from Mario Kart 64, perhaps because I disliked DD’s character-specific items.
Mario Kart DS is my all-time favorite; glad R.O.B. is getting some love.
Mario Kart Wii was a pivotal game in my life, largely because it’s responsible for at least half of my anger issues.
